What's your goal weight?

How did you come up with your goal weight if your doctor didn't give one? Especially for those who chose goals higher than their normal BMI. I haven't been under 200 pounds in my adult life, so I don't have a weight that I recall being comfortable at.

Suggestions... I'm 5'4, starting weight 315 (03/2012) (at least a starting goal before I consider plastics)

(also, if theres anyone in the nyc area that did consults for plastics, I'd like to know ballpark figures of popular procedures... or the input of anyone that went or is considering plastics in Mexico or DR)

I started at 276 in july 2012 and I set my own goal weight at a 135 I think I would be happy with that but it seems to go slow however I had 2 fills so far and I'm do for my 3rd on the 9th of jan, but I am down to 230 so I have about 95 lbs to lose then I will see what happens oh yeah I am only 5'3" so you can imagine lol

I'm 5'7 and have a goal of 135-140 ... I started at 267 and I currently am at 197 .. as for plastics...body seems to be holding well at 29 years of age but my arms are looking a bit scary right now..well see

doctor's goal is 160 pds, so BMI is good. I would like 190 pounds. I'm a little stronger at 190.

I'm 5'6" and my doc didn't give me a goal. I set an ultimate pie in the sky goal at 135, but I'm setting mini goals along the way. Next goal: 160. It's coming off very, very slow...but I'm headed in the right direction.

5'5 1/2" my surgeon set goal of 154...im at 163 now so close yet so far away!!!!

Haven't spoken to a doctor yet on it, but so far, after looking at mybodygallery.com I believe I'll aim to be around 170 as I am 5'4 and I love a fuller figure. I will try for a size 12-14 pant - I'm worried I'll be losing quite a bit in my bust, which I'm already bummed over it's decerease with my weight loss thus far.

I have had many goals...when I met the first, I kept on loosing so I set a second....and then surpassed that...

What I have learned, PROVIDING YOUR BAND IS FUNCTIONING AT PEAK AND NOT YOUR OWN EFFORTS..... is that your body will stop loosing when it feels it does not need to anymore.

In other words, your body will eventually adjust to where it should be, a normal FAT %, not a normal BMI. (although it could be)

I have often wondered what I would do, when the weight loss is finished....do I get a un fil?

the answer is no, this is a new life style, with new eating habits, and you will return to "Normal", then continue there....forever!

Just like we all got fat from a lifestyle of eating too much, and steadily growing heavier, this is a new lifestyle of eating "Normally", thanks to the band, and will steadily return to "NORMAL, then stop....all on it's own.

So setting goals may be fun, but it will continue providing you're living a life with the band and not by traditional dieting....

I had my surgery March 4,2009 and my goal weight was 145...I'm 5' 2" and I got down to 129...I have put on a few pounds with the holidays and weiged in at 134 this morning....but am back on track and plan to get down to around 120..:)

I'm 5'10 and started at 350 when I got my surgery in February of this year. I'm at 247 now and I'm thinking my goal is 170 but we'll see : )

My doctor advised the mid range of the healthy weight range on the BMI scale was a good goal to set, which is around 66kgs (145)

I'm 5'7" and starting weight was 99kgs (220).

Happy to say the start of 2013 i will be in the healthy weight range with my current weight 75kg (165). This is the first time since I was a kid I can ever say I'm in the healthy weight range.

Whilst I'm rather happy to have made it this far, wearing size 10 clothes and having more energy than ever, I definitely think the remaining 9kgs is within sight and although it won't be as fast and as easy as the weight loss to date, I'm giving myself 6 months to get there, at a 1.5 kgs a month (around 3 pounds) as a realistic goal

It's so helpful that you posted your height with your posts. I'm almost 5'5" and 62 yrs. old. Doctor's goal for me is 150, mine is 135. I was banded 8/31/12. Starting weight 213. Current weight 170. Oh my....

I am 5'4 and my goal is 135-140. I am currently at 189 and people are asking me if I am done losing?? WTH? Umm....noooo, I'm not. Goodness, I'm pretty sure I am still considered obese at this point. I have found it is better to sometimes to just ignore all those other people's voices!

I am 5"2 and starting weight was around 180 and now weight in at 150 I was down to 144 but gained some recent weight .. Hope to get back in track after New Years my goal weight is 135

I'm not quite sure yet. I say 140, but when I was 135 my doctor said I looked gaunt and unwell. I didn't feel well either. I am 5'3 ? maybe a little taller and 51 years old. My surgery is scheduled for New Year's Eve so at this point my goal is anything less than what I weigh now and a smaller size pant!

I try not to listen to what other people think about what they think I should be at. My doctors initial goal was 160 /164, which would put me at the top if my bmi. I waiver between 169/172 for more than 9 months now. I wear size 8/10. Everyone says that I should be done losing now and that I am skinny enough.

I think skinny is a strong word and I am far from that. But I think my body might be done losing, although I haven't tried all that hard to lose the last few pounds. I am extremely happy were I am at, but it would be nice to say I officially met my goal weight. I did make my size goal though :-)

5'8" 164 goal, 240 start, 170 current

Didn't gain during xmas!!!! Woohoo
