Lump In Chest
Thank you so much for explaining so well. I, too, had the lump in my chest. For three days, it was very very uncomfortable and every time I moved I would get very nauseous. I woke up this morning, and, although the feeling of the lump in chest is still there, it hasn't been as bad. The nausea isn't quite as bad. Today is my Day 7. So relieved to feel a little better.

Help Me! Nauseous!!
Thanks, Carolinagirl. I'm doing better with the liquids, but not yet up to recommended amounts. Your reply is very sweet. I appreciate it. Thank you.

Help Me! Nauseous!!
Banded 8/31. So nauseous. Have phenergan, but not throwing up so don't want to take that. What other things have you taken for nausea that are acceptable? Just thinking of protein shakes makes me gag.

Lump In Chest
Hey, Nikki ! Awesome to hear you are doing so well. Having difficulty staying hydrated and getting protein in. Today I managed 21 grams. I think I was on my way to ding dehydrated yesterday, but have done better today. Everything makes me nauseous. Going to try some tomato soup and applesauce in a bit. Let's keep in touch!

Lump In Chest
Hi, there. I was banded on 8/31, have had gas issues, but the actual gas pain is getting less and less. I had a hernia repair. I feel like I have a gas bubble in the center of my chest, or I assume that's what it is. I guess it could be the hernia repair??? At any rate, trying to walk in the house. 100+ degrees in Texas and not released to drive or do treadmill yet. Anyone else have this sensation?

Protein Shakes Today Is Day 4
Thanks, Sojourner. I think you were right about my being dehydrated. Trying so hard to get fluids in. Took me all day to drink about 24 oz of water with 21 g of protein in it, but finally made it. Not sure I can gag any more down tonight. Today is my first thinned cream soup day and am almost afraid to try any. I feel like I have a lump in my esophagus, but liquid is going through just fine. Guess it's the hernia repair and/or gas. Ready for it to go away!

Protein Shakes Today Is Day 4
Oh my goodness! I tried to drink protein yesterday. Got about 10 grams, maybe. Today tried a chocolate protein drink...17 grams, got about 12-13 grams down. It makes me so nauseous! No trouble with water or tea or broth or other sugar-free drinks. Guess I'll just keep trying. Going to try the Unjury flavorless in broth or the Unjury chicken soup. Anyone else have this type of nausea?

Social Dining
I'm also interested in the different cuisines. I know that most places have fish, but not BBQ restaurants, generally. Chinese has salmon usually and egg drop soup is a good choice, but we can't all eat shrimp. Wondering what other choices are good at Chinese places.

Looking For Support....
You are lucky, Charles! I had the surgery Friday. Surgery was a breeze, even with a hiatal hernia repair. However, the gas pains have been brutal. I took Gas-X, but the gas I'm experiencing isn't intestinal, it's the CO 2 used to extend the abdominal cavity and must be absorbed by the body. Walking helps, but some experience the CO 2 pain more than others, even when following doctor's orders to a T. So glad for you, though!

Fab Heating Pad For Gas!!
Love your picture RobinGirl! So cute!

Fab Heating Pad For Gas!!
I bet that's even better. No worries about the popping and the smell of the popcorn on post-op clear liquids is brutal! Lol

Fab Heating Pad For Gas!!
According to the directions, you put in the microwave for less than two minutes. It didn't pop in mine, but could depend on each microwave. I guess you can adjust as needed.

Fab Heating Pad For Gas!!
While trying to find anything to help with gas pains following surgery on 8/31, remembered someone had given me a popcorn sleeve that can be heated in microwave. It's about 18" x 5". You heat in microwave for less than 2 minutes. Best thing is u can wrap around your neck or put in localized area. Really helps. Bet u could put loose popcorn in a sock and close top of sock somehow.

4 Days Post Op And 17 Pounds Gone
Oh my goodness! Surgery last Friday! Doing great except for this gas in the shoulder and chest. Really tough. Walking in the house, but not much space to do that. 100 degrees outside, so not an option there. As far as coffee, my doctor said I could include coffee or tea immediately as long as no milk with it. He didn't care if it was with caf or decaf. This is day 3 and get to add protein drinks and shakes for next two days, then thin cream soups and V-8 juice.

Pre-Op Diet
I was just banded yesterday by Dr. Fox in Dallas. Doing fine except for the trapped gas from the surgery. It's been brutal.

Chest Discomfort
I,too, have chest pain. I did have a hernia repair and wonder if that might be part of it. It feels similar to when I had the pain from reflux before surgery, although I never had the actual liquid come in my throat or mouth. It hurts, I know that. Was banded yesterday. I've taken Gaviscon, Gas-X, and Pepcid. Sitting up in bed helps, but sure wish it would subside.

On The Other Side
Good morning, everyone. Thanks so much for your prayers and good wishes. Went in today at 7:30 and was on my way home at 11:00 a.m. Everything went smoothly...no pain, other than a little gas in the left shoulder. Water going down just fine. Wonderful care team and a piece of cake, so far. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Unjury Protein Powder
Hey, there, Tonyann! Love those two-names, names! Mine is Nan Leigh. It's a Southern thing. lol I just got mine yesterday and only have tried the Strawberry Sorbet, so far. I think the Unjury website has recipes. I was reading the insert that came in the box and it mentions adding to to sauces, cereal, salad dressings. I'm not sure. Maybe adding to ready-made shakes to up the protein or adding only half a serving or a sprinkle here and there to up the protein??? I'm not sure...I'm a newbie. Being banded tomorrow. It does warn not to heat over 140 degrees or it will clump, so your soup and coffee, etc. can't be too hot. Anyone else have any ideas??

Unjury Protein Powder
Hey, guys. Just thought I'd let you know I ordered the sample packs of Unjury on the Internet. I just tried the Strawberry Sorbet. It's 100 calories and 21 grams of protein. The cool thing is that you can add it to Crystal Light and it's great. Sometimes I get really tired of the milky shakes. The vanilla and chocolate can be added to milk, but can also be added to coffee or iced coffee...it's a least a nice option. In the sample pack, you get two of vanilla, chocolate, unflavored, strawberry and chicken soup. You might give it a go if you like to try something different.
