Does The First Fill Make The Difference??

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was banded with plication on November 12th and am in my last few days of mushy foods. I lost 13 pounds the first week and have lost 4 pounds since then. I know your not suppose to focus on the number and my clothes are fitting much better but did you notice the weight coming off more so once you had a fill. Any feedback would be great! :)

17 pounds in a couple of weeks is wonderful. Don't count on fills to lose the weight.... you have to eat the right foods, in the right amounts, and chew, chew chew. I did not get a fill until I was 6 weeks out, only had 4 total in 13 months. You will be fine! Look at the positives and don't be a slave to the scales!

You are doing great. Didn't notice anything different after the first or the second fill. Starting back to the gym regularly and counting my calories is helping, but unfortunatly not my band right now. 3rd fill is in 2 weeks. It is a marathon not a sprint. Congrats on the loss.

Mine came off with or without fills because i ate 1000 calories a day. The fills made it easier to live with myself because my food would help the food satisfy me for 4/5 hrs at a time instead of being hungry an hour after I ate such a small amount.

I am SO praying my first fill will do something. I am satisfied for about and hour and a half and then hungry. Getting a fill on Friday. I knew it would be hard but I was just hoping I could have been the one that the band alone worked without needing any fills

for awhile...well it was a good dream while it lasted...LOL. It is hard though..maybe even harder than I thought it would be...while I have lost about 20 lbs...was just hoping for so much more. I know its not a race and I know I have to work the band but was hoping I didnt have to work it this hard as I was hoping for a little more help from it. I know, I know it will come and just keep reading all the inspirational stories on here to get me thru. I cant wait till Friday to see If I get a little hunger relief but if not will push thru it till the next one and keep at it. Everyone on here says it will come in time so I will wait and get there..in the mean time...keep reading all the encouraging posts that I can.

Thanks to all you experienced ones on here that offer advice...hope to be one of you someday to offer advice to others down the road :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
