My doctor actually said during surgery they fill the band to make sure it isn't defective and then take the fluid back out, but often times some gets left in there. They wait 6 weeks to give your stomach time to heal from the surgery and allow the swelling to go down before restricted it again. It is for your own good to recoop from the surgery first.

Actually about 6 weeks as I recall.

It was supposed to be at 6 wks but I had lost 30 lbs so we waited another month.

Y dr does not fill the band at all during surgery. My first fill is not till 6 weeks. When were your fills?

I was banded on 10/01 with no fill in the band. I got my first fill today 5 weeks in. Normally the first fill is the 4th or 5th week with my surgeon.

My first fill was 4 wks 3cc in my 10cc band. Second fill was 6 wks, he added 1.5
