  1. Hey everyone! I replied to a couple of earlier posts before I realized they were from this summer. Is there anybody new this fall in the Evansville area??? My doc has a support group there, but I live in Jasper so it's easier to do support chatting online for me. Looking forward to meeting some friends. Carol
  2. Soo yesterday evening dinner was a Healthy Choice meal. It had beef tips and veggies and red potato wedges in it (with the skin on). So the potato skins got stuck and I started to PB (which has happened a couple of times before, just the PB not with potato skins). This time however it was a full out puke not just the normal the usual PB with normal slime. Has anyone had this happen before?? or should I be concerned. I felt fine later and didn't have any symptoms of a stomach flu. Obviously I need to make sure that my potatoes are sans skins in the future. Any thoughts?? Thanks!

    Pb/puking Sorry, Tmi

That's usually how it gets stuck, but I was taking my time yesterday, so I think it was actually the potato skins that did it. I felt fine a couple of hours later. Just not used to actually getting sick. I've had a couple of PB's before but not like that. Will not be doing that meal again. I must say the learning experiences with the band are definitely lessons I won't repeat.

    Pomegranates?

They are ok and go down fine as long as you can eat solid food and follow the rules, but the juice is obviously a no no cause of the fructose. I have a half of one a day. Sent from my iPod touch using LapBandTalk
  5. Ok so I had my first fill on Thurs. morning and was on a liquid diet till yesterday afternoon. For lunch I tried having a Healthy Choice bowl and it was a huge mistake. Now I was able to eat it just fine before the fill. I know I obviously didn't chew enough or maybe it was the rice in it after all, but it got stck real good. I ended up haing my first PB. Not fun. I will not do that again. Ended u throwing away 3/4ths of the meal away. Is this a common experience after a fill, finding out your limits, or was this just a first fill beginners mistake?? Thanks! 1St Fill Today

Well today was my first fill. First I lost 4#s (not as good as right after surgery, but I'll take it), then the surgeon filled the band with 3.5cc. It hurt having him try to find the port, guess the tummy is still tender. After the adjustment I was nauseous for a bit. I'm not sure if it was from not having eaten in a while or from the fill. Doing ok now, but definitely need to make a quick run to the store for some cottage cheese and soup, lol. I'm on a liquid diet now for 2 days. Will check back in later.

    1St Fill Today

I had a protein drink about 2 hrs before the appt. That's all I ever have for breakfast, so I figured I was ok.

    First Fill

I was banded on 10/01 with no fill in the band. I got my first fill today 5 weeks in. Normally the first fill is the 4th or 5th week with my surgeon.
  10. So I was banded 10/01 and since 10/11 I haven't lost a single #. I've been on mushie/soft foods since the 14th. I know when the dietitian was talking to me about protein drinks she said it should have 20gm of protein and no more than 5gm of carbs (I think). Is there a carb limit we should stick to after banding?? I'm thinking I'm taking in either too many carbs or calories. I take in about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I'm getting the required 65-75 gms of protein a day and the 64 oz of water/liquid. Just trying to figure out why the weight-loss has stalled. I lost 20.2# in the 2 weeks from pre-surgery liquid to post surgery followup.
  11. Thanks for all the input ladies!
  12. Welcome, My WL doctor wanted me to lose 5% of my weight prior to surgery. So I started at 316# and was expected to lose 16#s in the 6 mos period. I would suggest just taking it one step at a time. There will be plenty of things to get used to besides weight loss expectations believe me. My WL doctor has a nutritionist on staff and we had to attend monthly classes on different topics related to healthier eating and support group meetings as well. Also if you drink soda, you had better wean yourself off of it cause you will not be able to drink carbonated beverages after the surgery. The 6 mos. will go quickly, don't worry and Welcome onboard!
  13. Hey everyone. I'm now 3 weeks post surgery, and I know they told me prior to surgery to not use NSAIDS (ie Advil, Naproxen, aspirin, etc.). Do you think it's ok if I take some now?? I had my monthly friend come today and my arthritis has been acting up. Advil/Ibuprofen works so much better for this kind of pain then Tylenol. ???‰ Sent from my iPod touch using LapBandTalk
  14. Thanks Diane and Missy. I know they said it irritates the band and I already have stomach issues related to using Advil excessively for years. I'll make sure I only use it when I'm really hurting.

    Learning To Chew

I was instructed to get a set of baby spoon and fork, the kind you use on infants. Whatever fits on that is acceptable. Just don't try to heap it high ???‰ Sent from my iPod touch using LapBandTalk

    October 2012 Bandsters

I was banded on Oct. 1st. Doing fine. As of right now I've lost 21#s since pre-surgery liquid diet, 34#s overall. I noticed yesterday that my middle incision is starting to sink in a little. Not sure if it's cause I'm losing weight, or if the swelling has finally gone away. Doing mushies right now and it's going ok. Still hungry, but part of it right now is PMS too.

    I Feel Alone...

I know for me if I don't get the required minimum amount of Protein and Water in each day my weight loss slows down. Also amber is right maybe you aren't eating enough or as often as you need to. I myself have noticed that since moving to mushies I have spaced my meals further apart, which really I was told to eat every 2 hrs. If I space it further apart I do try to make sure that what I eat is closer to 20gms of protein than not so that even though the meals are spaced further apart I'm still getting the right amount of protein. My Dr. has a dietician on staff to help us with these kinds of eating issues, if yours has one I would definitely talk to them too and see if they can offer you some professional advice. Good luck!
  18. ok so I've been getting A LOT of stomach rumbling sounds lately. Is it just gas working it's way through my system or what? My appetite's in overdrive right now too, but I figure some of that is just PMS cause I'm due to start soon. Also, do any of you ladies have appetite/craving issues around that time of the month?? If so how do you control it?? Mine is in overdrive right now and I am having a really hard time sticking to my liquid diet. I get the full amount of Protein and Water everyday, just wondering if I should up it for the next few days.
  19. Thanks for the input. That's exactly how I have felt for the last 2 days. Good to know it's not just me.

    Oh Plz Tell Me.....

Could be lots of reason like everyone stated. I actually gained back a pound the last 2 days and I know it's cause I'm due to start in the next couple of days and I'm retaining Water. So am I stressing cause I gained back a #, Nah! I realize it will be gone after my friend has left. Anyway just keep doing what your Dr. has told you to do and maybe stay off the scale for a couple of days and you will see things aren't as hopeless as they appear.
  21. Ok, so when I got my instructions for my diet guidelines for this process it included a list of foods to avoid or what they called "common problem foods". Here's the list: red meat (including pork), dry meat (ie jerky), shrimp, untoasted bread, pasta, rice, peanut butter, seeds, veggie/fruit skins, dried fruit, fibrous veggies like corn, asparagus & celery, nuts, coconut, popcorn, and fried/greasy foods. They said fibrous stuff may not digest as well, dried things are liable to swell and get stuck, and sticky doughy stuff can obstruct the band. So I guess my ? is how much of this is true and how much should I really avoid??? What experiences have you had?? Thanks!

    ? On Foods To Avoid

Thanks for the input everyone. I go to a puréed diet in a couple of days and wanted a good idea of what I could try in the blender plus for in a few weeks when I go back to solid food. Sent from my iPod touch using LapBandTalk

    ? On Foods To Avoid

Thanks Missy. I figured it was a trial and error thing, but thought too maybe some of them might be universally not good to try and best to just avoid.
