Today...getting Through It!

Recommended Posts

Office is having pizza today. The one thing I've been wanting since I started the pre-op diet. Really anxious about it...seeing it and smelling it and wondering if I could just pull some toppings and cheese off...but just opted to eat my lunch and persevere! I was even in the kitchen with all the pizza while I got my lunch together and didn't have a meltdown! Ha! My mom said she would pray for me today because she knew it was going to be hard. It worked for sure!

Why can't you have some pizza?

She's only 3 weeks postop. Still on soft foods or mushies I would think.

Very proud of you. That is the first step in conquering temptations. At the end of the day you will see the weight loss and know your choice for lunch was a good choice. It will be worth it. You are a very strong person, you are going to do great at this.

Congrats!

Our anniversary was Monday and for the first time since surgery 11/28/11 I called up and ordered a gourmet pizza. It was awesome. But I must have drank a gallon of Water that night.

So, treat yourself occasionally but not for a while since you just had surgery.

Thanks everyone - that helped a lot having additional support. My coworkers just feel sorry for me and give me the poor you look. Today I'm 20 days post op. I had my first post-op appt yesterday and have lost 29 pounds since I've been their patient, but since my highest weight back in April? it's been 53 lost! So yes, perseverance pays off!

Good for you , you are so brave and strong. I am proud of you. I think i would have had to take the day off at least until I have learned to eat better. i have only been banded 9 wkks and it it time to "eat just one"...

For me it is a great feeling when I am able to avoid that temptation. It is empowering to know you are stronger than that craving.

I, too, was craving pizza post surgery. So recently I bought a pack of 7" premade crusts (about 100 cal.), pizza sauce (minimal cals.), added low fat cheese, veggies, etc and "induldged" all for only a couple hundred calories and it was YUMMY and best of all satisfied my craving for pizza. :)

Good for you or resisting that temptation. I think the best way to approach it is saying "for now" I won't have it. It doesn't mean "forever", it just means that for today, that food is not an option to you. I think it's unrealistic to think that you'll never have another slice of pizza, but very realistic to remember that 3 weeks after a major stomach surgery that pizza is not an option. Take care of yourself! Congrats on all your wonderful progress!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
