So I was banded on June 28, 2012 and I'm at the point where I'm eating again and everything. So my question is if I eat the whole kids meal portion is that bad????

But the other day I ordered a kids meal chicken dinner and only at one chicken finger and a few potatoes???

So I don't eat it all, all the time...

But coming to the realization of what I used to eat and how little I eat now is the most wonderful feeling the world. Looking back at my portion sizes kills me and breaks my heart that I did that to myself. My new banded life is treating me well and I'm loving every minute of it!!!!!

I order off the kid's menu whenever they have healthy choices...but usually the options are fried or too heavy on the carbs...foods which are not on my "allowed list".

Your surgeon should have provided you with some essential guidelines for portion sizes and what foods to focus on, and ones to avoid. It would be best for you to adhere to the instructions you should have been given. If they did not provide any pre op nutrition education, then I would be asking them many questions. If you are able, invest in attending an appointment with a registered dietitian to get their guidance about proper diet.

Now nearly 6 months out from my surgery date, each meal consists of 3 oz lean Protein and 2 oz Fiber carb, measured by volume and after cooking. And whatever is left on the plate after 20 minutes goes to our opportunistic dogs...

It's my understanding that most people are told not to exceed 1 cup in volume of food total per meal. Plus, I agree with the comments above about the healthiness of the child's meal. Unfortunately, they are often fat or carb heavy (fried or pasta).

I order kids meals all the time but forgo the dessert and bread. Also do the math and check the calories. Some kids meals are very high in calories I seem to do better ordering appetizers or Soup and salad. My rule of thumb is 4 oz of Protein, 1/2 c veggies and 1/4 c starch at every meal

I agree with previous posters I would be concerned with fat/cal levels. Many children's meals are not very healthy. I would focus on 3 oz off solid low fat/cal Protein and low cal/fat/carb veggies.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
