Do I Have To Get A Fill?

I'm 12 days post op and feeling back to normal. I've been cleared to eat soft foods and I feel so much better emotional wise. I feel like I can do this and lose weight without a fill. I definitely have less restriction since my swelling went down but I don't starve. I ate two pieces of soft fish today and felt great. I've lost almost 17 pounds so far. Has anyone had the same situation?

I have lost 31 lbs since my surgery 3 weeks ago and just by following the surgeons guidelines and eating right. I'm on soft food now and haven't gained anything back but I also exercise alot. I feel as I could do the same but at the sometime I want to get more restriction and take advantage of my band. I've read stories on here of people being six months out and still no fills because they are losing weight. It's your band and I'm pretty sure you can do it any way you want.

12 days post op is not long at all and you will still have significant internal swelling, it normally takes up to 6 weeks for you to heal completely and by then u may start feeling a little more in need of a fill, but if you dont its all good too, theres no set pattern for fills or not its a very individual thing just dont discount them this early on in the process :)

Are you supposed to be on solids? I was still on full liquids at 12 days. I am not suprised that you are full on solids at this point. I moved to solids at week 5 so my thought is you may see a difference in how long you can go between meals at that point.

Are you weighing your Protein? Even during healing I was to measure out 3 oz of protein. You'd be suprised how little that is.

You may want to wait till your 4-6 week checkup to make that decision. If you don't need a fill, don't get one. But if you are trying to be macho and plan on doing this alone without the help of your newly installed tool, reconsider.

If you're like most of us you'll be entering bandster helll soon and that can make a huge difference in your thought process. Check back in two weeks and let us know how the "diet" is coming?

One more item? If you fear the needle, let that thought go bye-bye. Fills are not anything like getting a shot or drawing blood. It's like having your 2 year old niece pinch you.

Honk, I was on soft foods at day 8 till day 30. My doc also didn't have a pre-op diet for me except one day before I went on liquids.

I was told to try soft foods and if I tolerate them, I'm in the clear. I haven't been able to tolerate everything. I'm not weighing anything. I'm just told to stop eating when full and no bread. I've been losing weight every day.

I'm also not afraid of a fill. If I'm losing weight consistently, what is the sense in getting a fill? I see none.
