Lap Band With Gastric Plication

I feel like a bag of assholes.

I had to spend an extra night in the hospital because of the nausea. I'm home now and still nauseous, can't keep down the pain meds and am apparently screaming in my sleep because it hurts to move.

Does anybody have any experience with this? How long can I expect this nausea to carry on?

OK, made it through TS Beryl with just some limbs down..lights did not go out. Now we have the buckets of rain (which we need) 10-12 inches expected. Wow, those winds were strong. Tamg - I understand SE Ga is going to get pounded for a few days too..be safe. Bought all the right foods so I dont think I will find the chip bag. Will have to workout in front of the TV for a few days but all is well. For those of you having surgery next week, good luck and be sure to follow the doctors instructions. Carolina and Shy hang in there..thinking about you both ! It won't be long now..

Glad everything went well!

I totally blew it today. We had an all day meeting off-site where I ate a little salad and turkey lunchmeat. I should still be on liquids. My dr says full liquids for 4 weeks (had my surgery May8th) because of the plication. My question is for those of you who have had plication for a while, should I be worried that I messed up my stitches? I feel fine but now I'm totally stressed. I'm going back to shakes only for a while.

I had my procedure on May 7th. I had my follow up on the 15th and my doctor said I could start eating! I was so glad to be off liquids and protein shakes. I have had chicken, hot dogs, corn, eggs, sausage, bacon, fish and seafood type food. All in much smaller amounts, but I have had no problems so far. I don't think you have to stress out, as long as you have the smaller amounts.

So glad to hear other people are eating in small portions. I think my surgeon is really conservative because the procedure is still in clinical trials. And yes I had a very small portion of salad and two very thinly sliced pieces of Turkey. It felt so good to have regular food!!!

Devine_swoman: I had both done and I was on full liquids for 2 weeks and then mushies for 2 weeks. You should be fine. Just be sure you don't overeat - that causes more harm than what you eat. The salad was probably a bit rough, but I doubt you did any hard to your stitches...if you did, you would already know it. Take care and get back to your doctors orders. Glad to hear you are doing so well... Keep us up to date on your progress.

Hi guys. I'm just checking in. I had banded plication yesterday. Woohoo. I'm sore and have some gas, but it's not bad. I'm on liquids and puréed for a month.

kah......how we doing? liquids only for a month?

Liquids and mushies and basically soft foods for a month while the stomach heals. I'm stocked up on soups and yogurt and ice pops! I dont want to jinx it, but I'm feeling pretty good right now.

Thanks Melinda... Did great today. Had a protein shake for breakfast, 3oz of grilled tilapia for lunch and having anothe protein shake for snack. Will probably be too full for dinner if not I'll have another small piece of tilapia. Doesn't sound like much but I haven't been hungry as long as I get my water and protein in.

Are you guys finding a lot of restriction with the plication? I'm still too 'new' having banded plication on Tuesday, but I really can't eat anything. I assume this is normal for the first week or so?

I'm wondering too. I had about 1/2 cup of soup 3 different times and it takes an hour to eat the whole 1/2 cup. Water is going down fine though. Im only getting about 30-35 grams of protein right now.. Hoping to get a little more each day

Some of that 'full feeling" after a 1/2 cup of soup or a pinch of fish will go away. You still have swelling. Hey, enjoy it. Your appetite will return and you will hold more. Example. Last night for dinner..3 ozs grilled chicken breast, 1/4 cup green beans, 1 slice of tomato (home grown !). I took 25 min to eat and got a bit hungry 3 hours later. I feel I could have added either more vegies or more chicken but my doctor says to stop eating after 20 min. I measure and weigh my food in the kitchen and try not to go back for 2nds of anything. I really dislike protein shakes. The one I have tastes ok (unjury Classic Chocolate) but I need to hear a crunch of feel real food in my mouth and this fake milkshake isn't it. As you can see, I am still learning and may even be experiencing a bit of bandster Hell...I really enjoy eating - that is how I got in this chunky shape.

Kah, Caroline and Scorpio - so glad to hear you ladies are doing so good. You can relax now and enjoy the ride a bit. I am a worrier so I worried about everything. I look back now and see that was silly. Drink your fluids and just follow the docs directions - you will do just great. That scale is going to drop like a rock over the next month ! ENJOY As for that first fill - that is a bit scarey, you don't know what to expect..It is not bad, goofy (getting stabbed in the belly with a needle) but it does not hurt. I go back next Friday for a fill and I think one is needed. I am eating the wrong foods again and that is no one's fault but my own. Craving junk ! the fill won't stop the craving, but it will make me think a bit longer before I indulge. Have a great weekend and keep us up to date on your progress...
