Banded On March 23Rd!!!!!

I was banded on March 23rd everything went good dr even removed my gall bladder due to it being inflamed. Im still really sore and having to rely on my meds like clock work. Im living off of sugar freen jello and ice chips and pure protein vanilla shakes. Sometimes im not feeling hungry at all but other times my stomach is growling and im so hungry thats when i drink a shake. Im wondering if it's going to take me a little longer to recover since he removed the gall bladder. Gas hasn't been a big big issue but whenever I feel discomfort I chew some gas x. But im still having trouble getting in and out of bed and sleeping on my back not a happy camper about that. I tried sleeping on my side it just was more uncomfortable for me. But Im walking alot and having no problem doing it. Im going to attempt to take a real shower tonight so I hope i don't get anything to wet. Missing food like crazy though. Hope everyone else is doing well. Oh yeah 16lbs lost so far. Operation get skinny and healthy in full effect!!!!!!!

Hey Tray im looking forward to going out to dinner and eating off the kids menu. My friends have already said that I won't be any fun to go out to dinner with....How long did it take you to go out to eat after your band?

Hi guys I'm 5 months into my band....there are certain foods that I cannot break down n of course it would be my favorites...lol n those foods are chicken' date=' bread and Pasta.....Greer but I guess BC of the carbs in the pasta n bread is good....as far as chicken I loved it lol...but I don't like the uncomfortable Feeling it leaves even if I chew chew n chew.....but u will find other things to fill u....its great going to a restaurant n ordering from kids menu....[/quote']

Ahhh!!! I hope I don't lose chicken too!!! =\ Any type of chicken is a problem??? Or just like grilled b/c it's too dry?

I've wondered about the kids menu, too! Lol At first I'm sure u must have gotten a few cynical looks when placing those orders. I worry about the places that are 'strict' about their below 12 years of age rule for the kids menu. Any issues with that? A huge advantage I'm looking forward to is the loads of $ I'll save on eating out now! Lol

Lol luckily when I go out to eat its with my niece n nephew....but nephew orders from the adult menu lol...within 2 months I think I started but with Soup....big difference in portions n money that is saved....lol...

As far as the chicken all types ....I know the skin is very bad for u but if its crispy it goes down......I have come to learn the crisper or mushier food the easier it goes down.....

Oh, I see! I guess I'll have to round up the neighborhood kids to help me out! Lol

Thanks for the heads up!

Ok so today I started my restore powder I put it in my protein shake. It's very different to say the least. Does anyone else use restore powder? Any other good ideas on what to mix it in (liquid only)?

Hmmm...No, I haven't tried that. =\ I just use Pure Protein. The ones that come prepared in the cans n the powder to make ur own shakes. Sorry, Hun.

Ughhh...Attempted going back to work this morning. Was feeling good n ready. That is until I started commuting. Went up a flight of stairs to catch the train n I had instant dizziness. And no, I don't believe it was due to my surgery. It was due to the dreaded 'woman monthly visit'. Ughhh....How horrific! It got progressively worse. As I got nearer, I got dizzier n dizzier. Then the nausea kicked in. Haven't even had nausea with the surgery! Finally had to call my supervisor as I was 10 minutes away n tell her I couldn't go in YET AGAIN. I could hardly get the words out I was having coldsweats and feeling completely faint. I tried to avoid scheduling my surgery around this time but I also wanted it ASAP so I couldn't put it off. Sorry if this is TMI, guys!

Sleeping beauty that sux....but its gonna get better once u start getting more nutrients in ur system ...my doc wouldn't let me go back to work for 6 weeks...he wanted me to get use to the lifestyle change and that was one of the reasons the cycle.....ur already lacking energy n with that ur just completely drained ...hope u feel better

Yeah, I can totally see why he would want additional rest now!!! It was definitely a bit scary this morning. I even had to hold back tears. It was such an overpowering feeling n I felt so alone in the midst of all the strangers rushing to work. But thank Goodness, it didn't get any worse n I made sure to stop trying to fight thru. The lack of nutrients definitely played a major role this morning. =\ But thanks for the support Tray! Feeling much better now.

Girl, I know how you feel!!!! I accepted a job this morning because I was feeling good (I'm a substitute co-teacher).. After accepting.. I realized I got my monthly dreaded buddy.. Mind you I just got it on the 8th.. It's damn early!!! I felt worst and worst as the day progressed and unfortunately the only liquid meds I have is the oxicodone the doc gave me for the surgery but it puts me to sleep so I didn't even want to take it.. I'm glad I got home at 3 because I ran and took some.. Hope you feel better!! =D

Oh no Im so sorry you guys had a bad day! Im hoping you guys get plenty of rest and hope you feel better. I was supposed to go back to work last Tuesday but I knew I wasn't ready I was still relying on my meds so I talked to my boss and figured I would start fresh on Monday. Today was my 1st day to drive it felt diff to me. I felt uncomfortable right in the middle of my chest. I don't know i tried to move and adjust just couldn't get comfortable. Tomorrow is my follow up with my dr so hope everything goes well. I have been having this sharp pain in my side of my stomach when i cough or laugh or take a deep breath thought it was gas so i took gasx but it didn't help still hurts. Any ideas?

Also I wanted to say CONGRATS to you guys for being banded a week! WAY TO GO  !!!!

Nicole did u have ur gall bladder removed?..... if not I was experiencing that pain a month after my surgery n ended up having to get my gall bladder removed ......

Hey Tray yes when i got my band my dr took out my gall bladder due to it being inflamed. But I found out what the pain was it's gas. I went to the dr and I had to take xray to check my band and make sure it's ok and dr told me thats what it is. So im just going to taking deep breaths and more gasx.

Also my dr told me I would be ready for a fill in 2-3 weeks. I guess thats a good thing. My dr also told me I can start eating chunky Soups like with veggies or meat. He made my day!!!! Still having some discomfort sitting for long periods at a time due to my port it's in the middle and still sore. But dr said everything looks great. Lost 10lbs in a week he was ok with that. So all in all good visit!!! Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!!!
