Banded On March 23Rd!!!!!

I was banded on March 23rd everything went good dr even removed my gall bladder due to it being inflamed. Im still really sore and having to rely on my meds like clock work. Im living off of sugar freen jello and ice chips and pure protein vanilla shakes. Sometimes im not feeling hungry at all but other times my stomach is growling and im so hungry thats when i drink a shake. Im wondering if it's going to take me a little longer to recover since he removed the gall bladder. Gas hasn't been a big big issue but whenever I feel discomfort I chew some gas x. But im still having trouble getting in and out of bed and sleeping on my back not a happy camper about that. I tried sleeping on my side it just was more uncomfortable for me. But Im walking alot and having no problem doing it. Im going to attempt to take a real shower tonight so I hope i don't get anything to wet. Missing food like crazy though. Hope everyone else is doing well. Oh yeah 16lbs lost so far. Operation get skinny and healthy in full effect!!!!!!!

I agree, this thread has helped a lot! Especially meeting others that had their surgeries on the same date. At first I was skeptical of putting myself out there, but having this support n 'going thru this with others' has been a huge help.

Nicole, I'm glad u're doing so great n u have found a way to cope with the boredom of the same shakes. I kinda cheated a lil while ago. I had a snack I shouldn't have had n I was SO afraid it would get stuck! Thank God it didn't!!! But at the same time I kinda wish it had, so it would deter me from doing it again. =\

To everyone else, welcome! Glad we are all fairing pretty well! Glad we're here for eachother!

Ok Twin you have got to tell me what snack you had? I have been dying for some cheese it'z lol. That just makes you human. You know what you have to do and I think you have been doing great!! Thats what we are here for support! No worries just keeping going and we can get through the rough patch(liquid diet) and on to regular food in a couple of weeks. Everyone deserves a cheat!!!!

Lmboooo...I had a pastelito. It's a Dominican version of an empanada (but MUCH THINNER n NOT as filled with meat or the such). But it being fried n all...Super bad. =\\\ But I couldn't help it! The saddest part is that the reason why I was in the kitchen was to make a Protein shake!!! Lol I stopped dead in my tracks when I came across a COVERED plate where those were being kept for 'others'. Lol! I was trying my hardest to chew, chew, chew! But even tho I was eating way too fast for my own good. It did feel great to have that sensation in my mouth again, I must say! =\

You are so crazy Twin lmbo but you know that sounds so good I probably would have done the same thing! I miss pizza like mad!! My dr told me I can no longer eat bread, pasta or rice. I feel im going through a really hard break up with that. I need to find something to replace that void. My sister came over today eating Chik fil a right in front of me like nothing. I wanted to choke her narrow behind but i held back thinking that when her butt starts to jiggle and Im looking awesome then i will be #WINNING.

LOL at having sneaked in a pastelito.. I had a little tiny piece of a desert pastelillo with guayaba.. I couldn't help it either.. SOOO BAD but it tasted so good.. I think they all know we might cheat, it's human nature. But I felt bad after eating it and made sure to stay on track after it.. I live at home with 3 siblings and my parents and even though they have vowed (at least 3 of them) to stick it out with me, they really haven't. They eat all kinds of junk in front of me and I'm glad to say that the only cheat I had was that little piece of pastelillo with guayaba.. It could be much worst.

Guess we just have to be stronger.. I don't think I'll be cheating anymore. I swear I was just as worried it would get stuck or I'd get the mean runs or something. I don't know if I'm more scared now that nothing happened. Oh and I heard you shouldn't eat rice, Pasta or bread but I'm gonna have to change that because I'm Puerto Rican and umm yea that's like one major food group.. Small quantities well chewed should work.. I can't live forever without some rice! lol

One of the reasons you are on liquids is to make sure where they stitched your band in heals. Even if you don't get stuck your stomach had to contract to digest the food. That makes the stomach work harder and you run the risk of popping a stitch. Which increases the likelihood of a slipped band later. Try and remember this the next time temptation calls.... Better said than done :) good luck

I totally agree with you about rice im white but I love rice pasta and bread lol. I have been searching the internet for a safe rice or safe pasta. I came across some soy pasta it's worth a shot.

However we are all in the same boat and no what we can and can't have but your only human if you fell off we are here to help you get back on your bike and keeping going. We have to stick together not point out our mistakes. So Glori I thinking your doing great just keep your eye on the prize and we can do this. We will be able to have food again just a matter of time. You guys are going to have to make these "Pastelillos" for me they sound so yummy.......Keep it up!!!! No turning back!!!!!

Well thanks for that info.. Makes sense.. To be honest nobody really explained that.. Luckily besides the little piece of scrumptious goodness, I haven't cheated.. Been on liquids and plan to until my doc says otherwise.

How far along are you in the process??

Yea.. I sacrificied alot to be here.. As I'm sure you have and everyone else. I don't plan on really screwing it up over some cravings. As far as pasta goes though, my nutritional plan has pasta in the soft to solid stage.. Just has to be "overcooked". Lol.. I guess I'll be asking my doc more about everything when I see him Monday. =D I'll let you all know what he says.. =D

Lmboooo!!! I seriously couldn't help it! N it was pretty funny when I thought about it afterwards. I was like, 'If there was a camera in this place, ppl would think I was a damn drug fiend!' N as fast as I was trying to chew, chew, chew!!! Even worse!!! Lol!!!

But yes, that has been my BIGGEST heartbreak about this whole process. To think I can NEVER have bread, rice n pasta!!! LITERALLY my three favorite food groups! Ughhh....I was even comptemplating doing the sleeve instead. My cousin did that one n seeing her eating anything she wants (n substantially smaller amts) just seems so unfair! I heard about that soy pasta too! I hope it works! I just can't imagine never going to an Italian restaurant again. I can actually give up the rice, but that fresh warm bread they place on the table, n my penne a la vodka! Ahhh!!! Miss it soooo much!!! N that is so evil of her!!! Lmaooo. I really can't handle that right now. At the moment, I still have to stay away from others while they're eating esp something that smells as good as that!!! Good for u for not snapping! Lol

Oh Gosh!!! That's definitely a killer! Everyone around you can and do go on with their normal eating habits and ur sitting here salivating! Lmboooo But i do hope in time when they see how great things are going for u n the changes that have occurred, that they will make every effort to help u n themselves if they need it as well. N girl, u did better than me! At least u only had a piece. I tried that n ended up finishing a whole one! Lol But yes, I do plan on NOT repeating that moment as well. =\ N please let us know if u manage to deal with rice well. I heard brown is doable, although brown rice usually makes me not want it at ALL, but heck at this point I'll pretend n take what I can! Lol

Nicole, u got it girl!!! Pastelitos all around--well, no not really! =\ Lol But yes, they are deelish! Can't wait till we get to the point where we can comforatably SHARE one. Lol

Glori, Pasta in the mushy/solid phase!!!! Oh please, pleeeease find out if and how that is possible! I think u might have just made my day with that news!!!
