Try the powdered boost the chocolate is the best. Just add a scoop to 2% milk and it is just like drinking chocolate milk it doesnt have as much protien as the Protein Shakes but it will get you through.

can you blend them with ice. they taste much better really cold. Or add a few strawberries and blend to give a better taste?

By tolerate do you mean the taste or are you vomiting them up being unable to physically tolerate them? If it is just taste then try some different ones. I find Muscle Milk Vanilla Creme doesn't have much of "that" taste and Unjury unflavored doesn't either. Adding fruit and ice does help with the taste as well. Just experiment til you find something that will work for you. It is important for healing to get in your protein.

I'm on my pre op as well. They've been making me nautious as well although I think for a different reason. Someone suggested to me on here to try carnation instant Breakfast. I had some today mixed with skim milk and I really liked it! Plus, with the skim milk, it has 14 grams of Protein. Good luck!

Thank u guys i had the kellogs 1 blended with a banana n finally had some relief. Im def gonna try the carnation quick start today...

If you have a juicer try making some fresh strained juice for yourself. If it's to thick, you can Water it down.

For now as long as you get some fluids, and stay hydrated.

I couldn't stand the protein shakes that I had to drink pre-op...so the second week post op I drank Jugo Juice protein shakes (Tropical Protein is wonderful). I could only drink about half of one at a time, but they really hit the spot and are very healthy as well. I would only drink a maximum of one of these Jugo Juice shakes per day and I also drank 1% milk (which has similar amounts of calories, carbs, fat and protein as the protein shakes without the gross taste, weird smell and texture). I would also make cream soups (milk plus pureed vegetables) for a change. Hope this helps...Good luck!
