LET ME JUST START OUT BY SAYING THAT I WAS BANDED AUGUST 31, 2011!! SO FAR SO GOOD. GOT THROUGH THE HORRIBLE FIRST MONTH AND NOW IM COMING UP ON MONTH TWO. WHEN THEY SAY THE BAND IS A "TOOL" THEY WERE NOT LYING! I AM STILL LEARNING AND I KNOW ITS GOING TO BE A LONG JOURNEY OF CONTINUOUSLY LEARNING OF HOW TO USE AND MANAGE THIS "TOOL". I KEEP TELLING MYSELF THAT IT WILL ALL COME TOGETHER AND MAKE MORE SENSE BUT RECENTLY I CANT HELP BUT FEEL A TAD FRUSTRATED!

IM BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN LOSING 3 LBS, GAINING THE 3 LBS. I GET ON MYSELF CAUSE I FEEL I COULD BE EXERCISING MORE TO SEE MORE RESULTS. IM TRYING TO EAT RIGHT AND STAY POSITIVE, BUT I CANT HELP BUT WONDER WHY IM NOT LOSING ANY MORE WEIGHT! DONT GET ME WRONG, IM THRILLED TO BE DOWN THE 29 LBS SINCE MY PRE SURGERY DATE BUT IM FEELING KINDA "BLAH!'

BESIDES THAT, TRYING NOT TO FOCUS TO MUCH ON THE NUMBERS ON THE scale, I FEEL SOME PROGRESS IN MY CLOTHING. A FEW PEOPLE HAVE NOTICED, BUT IM STARTING STILL DETERMINED TO GET OUT OF THESE CLOTHES!!!

IVE READ ON THIS FORUM THAT MAYBE AT MONTH 4 PEOPLE START TO FEEL AND NOTICE THE WEIGHT LOSS, IM JUST HOPING MONTHS 3 & 4 HAS ME FEELING BETTER THAN IM FEELING RIGHT NOW.

IM GETTING MY SECOND FILL THIS WEEK AND HOPE THAT HELPS TOO. (BEEN FEELING HUNGRY AND EATING MORE RECENTLY) I SOMETIMES EVEN FORGET THAT IVE EVEN HAD THE BAND DONE! SHEESH, THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG JOURNEY!

I am not banded yet. But I hear that it takes a few fills to get to where you need to be when it comes to eating. Hopefully this second fill will get you that much closer. My Doctor told me that once you start eating solids it will take a month or two to get "on track" with the fill level/sweet spot. So I guess that will put you between month 2 and 3 to see the results again. Hang in there and don't get down on yourself, keep eating well and the weight will start to fall again!!!

I'm with ya girl. I've been gaining and losing the same 5 lbs for at least a month. I was banded august 2nd... I've had one fill. I'm ready for my second one but I still have about a month. I get on myself too because I know I could be exercising more and I know if I cut the carbs completely the weight would come off faster. But the thing is, I got the band so I wouldn't have to diet. I'm not against working hard but I don't want to have to count every little thing that goes in my mouth.... Even though I do.

I'm thankful for the band and I love it. I've lost 25 lbs since surgery and 20 before. I've never lost 45 lbs before!

The second fill was the key one for me. Just had my fourth fill in 6 months today. Down 64 lbs in 6 months! It'll pick up but it's hard to not see the scale move.

Heading in for my fourth fill this afternoon. My third fill got me to restriction for a while but that has worn off. I guess it's my changing body shape (yay!) I know I have been eating too much lately but I have also been exercising like a demon. I know I can't keep that up forever so I need to get back to restriction to keep on losing.

I feel your pain!! Was banded on 9/1 and had my first fill last week. I don't feel any restriction at all! They put 3cc's in my 10cc band. It is so discouraging!! I just want to have the tool that I thought I would have. I'm hungry all the time and really have to scrape up all the will power I can find. I have another fill scheduled on Fri because I called the office and begged! I hope this does something!! My BMI was only 36 so I'm wondering if being on the lower side of the BMI spectrum has something to do with how the band fits(works). Anyone else with a lower BMI have the same experience?

Yes! My BMI was also 36. I was banded 8/23/11 - I have already had my 2nd fill - my 3rd is on 10/25. I really hope that one helps with restriction my total right now is 5.5cc in a 10cc band. I agree with the "Blah" statement... Looks like you and I are in the same boat. I am also hungry and am also hungry most of the time. I really dont know what is wrong with me - before being banded I was at the gym 5 days a week and I am struggling to make it even 1 day a week right now. I really need to snap out of the funk I am in - I knew this was a "tool" but man...

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
