I am on Concerta for ADD, and it's a slow release pill, meaning I cannot crush it and stir it into a liquid.

After my procedure, How long before I can take this medication? It's only one tiny pill, but I don't want to do anything that might jeapordize my recovery.

I'm planning on asking my doctor, but I wanted to get opinions from the people on here.

If it matters, the pill is rather small-- about the size of a Tylenol capsule.

The chances are good that you won't have a problem with this. I had 2 meds that I had to have and the doc OKed them easily.

I was able to take all my medications 1 day after surgery. I took one at a time, drank some water and took a bite of jello. (That's what my doctor recommended during the first 2 weeks after surgery) I waited a few minutes in between each pill. Now I just pop them in, drink water and am good to go!

I also take all my meds. Never had a problem with em. And I take a handful of them. Even right after my surgery I took them.

They gave me pills in the hospital the day of surgery. And my pain meds were pills, not liquid. I took them how Jen did.

I heard applesauce is used to take meds. I took a whole pill, med size, 3 days post op, with no problems and no applesauce, just water.

I was taking regular pills again, including metformin which is very large, by 5 days post op.
