  1. Religious MFP user and love it! I got a few people hooked and helped them too! 1 Friend banded and 2 are not banded. Useful all around!
  2. Mine is called heavy duty apps: 5K runner, it's yellow. I have it on my itouch! Love it!!! I'm ready for my 5K on Sunday!!! Can't say enough great things about it! Got a bunch of friends and family onto it too, all great benefits and results. Its pretty much interval training too which gives great benefits!!
  3. The first week is not bad at all but I def would be hesitant to start. I was in the gym walking on treadmill and neighborhood first week out but the running that goes on is rough some weeks. I did great until week 3 then again stuck at week 6. I was banded in August but started c25k day before Thanksgiving. I lost 25 lbs before beginning to run. I have my 5K this Sunday and run over 3 miles now. It's an amazing program that I feel has transformed me inside and out. I really enjoy running!!! I first ran a 5k 11 years ago but this is my first banded and feel so ready! Take it easy and listen to your body!!! good luck!!!
  4. I LOVE it and got a bunch of my friends and family hooked too! Its simple and started out doing 3 days per week. I try and get to 4 days p/w and do the day 3 on that fourth day. I have been stalled at week 5 for a couple of weeks but now I am on week 6 tomorrow at 5am. I have my 5k next months so I am commited for the next 4 weeks to RUN the whole thing. wish me luck!! Any suggestions on what a tight bander can eat while training?? Thanks!@@
  5. Im doing my first banded 5K Apil 15th. How do you carb up before a run bring banded? I cant really eat any carbs so Im wondering what to eat leading up to my run and the night before?? Any info will be helpful THANKS SO MUCH!! :-)
  6. Terrific loss! Thank you for sharing your before and after pics! It certainly is motivating! Congratulations!!!!!!!
  7. I have tried a bunch of Protein shakes, I am too tight in the morning to eat bfast so since 2 weeks before being banded I have had a protein shake every morning. Here is my list in order: Isopure Vanilla cream with cubes 1.5 scoop and 2 Splenda and I use NF milk Muscle milk I like the chocolate I buy on the go sometimes at 7-11 Muscle milk vanilla 100 calorie Premier from Wal Mart Jay Robb chocolate I try and mix it up from all the above. For lunch I have Morningstar "chicken" or buffalo wings (fake ones lol) I like chobani high protein and put high protein granola in it too to up my protein and eat it with a weight watchers cheese stick! That's my typical morning and lunch... I'm done with protein before noon. This is my taste and what I have done so it will be different for you but hope it helps give you some ideas. Good luck!
  8. Today is my 6 mo bandiversary, I have gum on occasion and never in 36 years have I swallowed it lol only stuck in my hair when I was 9 haha nuts are fine, slow and steady and I usually measure out and only eat almonds. Popcorn is fine too once in a while but yes slider as with chips and cookies limit yourself or don't keep them in the house or keep hidden ( outta sight outta mind)
  9. What a great post with a "happily ever after" for you and your band! Thanks for posting :-)
  10. I joined Lucille Roberts a month before surgery. I was back at the gym the week after surgery, just walking on treadmill. For me I usually take the classes. I tried curves and was really bored on rotating the same circuit, plus the hrs were not good for me. I started couch 2 5K a simple running program and it works you up. Whatever you do make sure your not bored, you will not stick with it. I like the gym and do my runs 3 times per week and go to the gym 1-3 days. Wii also has the fit games that are good too! Good luck!!!
  11. I have a protein shake almost every morning since I had surgery in August. I also asked my dr his thoughts. He said if its working they are a GREAT way to get your protein in. Whatever works for you! If you have them and it keeps you full, stick with it! If your not full and snacking drop the shake. Good luck and drink up!

  13. Haha I meant eggs for dinner! Best of luck! Ive been up since 4:45am, try to start the day
  14. I had a fill on Dec 9th, I was thinking 6cc was too much but then I noticed I wasn't making good choices and eating way too fast. I have tried to eat breakfast but it just doesn't go. My band, like others, is too tight to get in eggs and it took me almost an hour on Sunday to eat oatmeal with rasins. I usually have a protein shake with ff milk in the am. I try to bring a snack like almonds, eat half a protein bar, string cheese to snack on the ride home from work cause I'm hungry when I get home and notorious for snacking. Good luck and don't think it slipped just try new foods that may work better or at different times. Eggs for breakfast?

  18. Thanks all for replying I heard about C25K from banded wendy, follow her on facebook, and did good this week. I did the 3 days at my own pace. so far so good, good luck to all starting after the new year! I got from Wendy a cool site that has good music. I didnt download since I have a loaded Itouch but will over the break. The site is: Kissmyblackass.org check it out if you have time
  19. Just started c25k on friday! Anyone do the 8 week program? Anyone running a 5k? Any tips or beginner advice greatly appreciated! I went yesterday morning in 23 degree weather.... I'm motivated and wanna learn more! Thanks!
  20. 2weeks ago I managed 2 eat 2 slices and feel okay. No stuck episode just full. This past Thursday I ate a 1/4 of a slice and stuck and foamed the yucky feeling. Sometimes it depends what's in your stomach before, your stoma can also act different from day to day with same foods.
  21. WTG! Great work and must feel sooo good! I hope to be right behind you! I'm 2.5 lbs away...so close! Keep up the HARD work!
  22. When your 3 year old mimics you at dinner saying "it's not going down, it's getting stuck" Do I really sound like that?? LOL
  23. While a 25 year old will heal different from a 50 year old I feel we all know our bodies and what they can and can't do. I was in the gym doing treadmill and elliptical workouts within a week. I tried at 3 weeks to take a step class felt fine but then we moved to abs, i didnt feel comfortable with that and left. Okay so I waited 2 more weeks and was fine. Stick with cardio and work up your intensity and time. Your not even a month out but certainly walking either in a gym, at home, or around your neighborhood reeps benefits and the point of all this is to be healthy. If you feel "gym ready" go for it! Be safe and have fun
  24. I've been a member at a few gyms, always on/off. I joined Lucille Roberts when I started considering lap band. I love the classes and they push me and keep me in check. I have been to places like synergy and ballys, I don't feel intimidated at LR and have been making "gym friends" who keep me at the gym now. For me, I can't exercise at home my kids are 3 and 1 year old, I make a step and they are there lol I am going to the gym today and drop the kiddies at the babysitting in the gym good luck and I know some banders ( my cousin and neighbor) who don't gym and I say great and lucky for you but for me... It's a must to lose weight!
  25. Same here! I love educating myself on these boards about life with the band-the ups and down, food, nutrition, and of course GREAT support! :-)
