August rush 2010!!!

We already have 2 other August threads going but let's all try to consolidate all of our thoughts and encouragement into one thread so that we can all support each other and face our fears and struggles together.

I was originally to be banded last March 2010 so I started posting there and I love how that thread is still going with many of them having great success and encouraging each other.

My name is Dee and after much hassle with my surgeons office staff I have a surgery date of 8/16.

I have an appointment with him on 8/3 and there I will discuss my concerns about aftercare and dealing with his staff. Hopefully, all will go well and I won't have to cancel my surgery and find another surgeon.

I have been going through this process now for over a year. I started out with NYU but found after I paid them $750.00 out of pocket that my insurance is out of network for them. They made promises but I didn't want to risk getting stuck with a humongous bill. I want to be thin and healthy not bankrupt.

I found another surgeon that accepts my ins. and he seems nice enough and is the Director of the bariactric program at his hospital but his staff has treated me like I'm begging for a free surgery.

Well anyway, I'm planning to start my pre-op liquid diet on 8/2 anyway on my own advice.

I'm looking for much support and encouragement and am willing to do the same for all of you August rush people.

Kellyodoran came up with the name August rush!!

Well all my fellow rushers, I had my first "incidint" this morning! I allways start the day with my protien (get it out of the way)..... Then I take my Vitamins (get that out of the way too). Well I had been taking one tiny multi, and two calcium. I forgot and took a big multi. So I took two one right after the other and boyah! I got stuck! Started to burp alot and then the next thing you know i.....slimmed! WOW! What an experience, just a whole bunch of clear stuff! My pills did not come up or anything! Other than that, all has been well in my neck 'o' the woods.

My surgeon put me on an adult chewable multi-vitamin and chewable calcium, so vitamins haven't been an issue for me. Sorry to hear about your sliming! Hope you continue to do well!

First off...Good Luck to all you that are going in this week for surgery.

I went in for a post-op check today, and they did an unfill. Seems that not being able to "eat" yogurt and liquid Soup is not normal. I guess I'm having a duh moment. The unfill wasn't bad, and I go back on the 23rd for a fill. Get to start eating mushy foods today, and I can't wait to chow down on some tunafish. Never thought that tunafish would sound so good. I have lost 11 pounds in the last 2 weeks, so I'm not complaining.

Hey Shadena ,

You're almost there. I'm glad you made it through.

That pre-op diet tis the worst but you can pat yourself on the back that you did your best and got back on the horse.

I saw a cute vid on YT where this lady said she knew from the start she wasn't going to stick to no 2 wk liquid diet so she never even attempted to do it . She just low carbed and did well. She's now at goal and I love her vids. She is so happy you can feel it.

I hope we all have the same result.

I had my pre-op testing today. I was very nervous about it for some reason but now it's over and I'm counting it down now until the 16th.

Dee

You all ready got a fill?

Well it's nearly here for you  and it's already a lot of mixed emotions for me at least. I'm ready to get it done but I also want to be well and be able to do what I'm supposed to to have a great success. We will do this, we will!!

I'm going to the other site to post my experience today.

Please be sure to check in and let us know ASAP how everything went. I'll be thinking about you.

Tomorrow is my post-op appointment. I guess I'll find out when my first fill appointment will be then. Since I'm already experiencing a bit of Bandster Hell, I hope it's soon!

shadena30 -- Good luck to you! Let us know how it all goes!

I'm getting banded Wed, the 11th, and I'm stressed and nervous but excited too. I just want this part to be done with and to get on with the rest of my life. It will be so much better when this big "surgery" isn't looming out there. Will Thursday ever come?

It will come! And sooner than you think! Good luck to you. Keep us informed as to how it's going.

I'm starting to "cheat" and eat things that are not actually on the "full liquid" plan. I hate that because I'm usually one to follow the rules, but I'M HUNGRY! Hopefully, they will let me advance to mushies early. I'm not counting calories, but maybe I should. I think I'd be shocked!

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a while on this site, but am now scheduled to be banded next Monday, August 16.

I'm nervous, excited, terrified, and ready to start my new life! I look forward to sharing this journey with you all! :(
