  1. It sucks to not see the scale moving. It makes me feel like im failing. I know it's normal, but ahh! I only lost 39.5 pounds since surgery (2/21/23). What could I be doing wrong? What could I do to get it moving again? Am I eating too many calories? I don't even know how many calories I'm supposed to be having. I don't have anything in my papers. One things for sure, a lot of stuff doesn't feel like I get restriction? The only thing I can't eat really so far is bread, pancakes/waffles. That I know of. I know each meal is supposed to be 3 to 4 ounces. How do you guys figure out your entire meal size. 2oz protein, 1 ounce veggies, 1 ounce starch? Ugh. My next appointment is the 25th or 26th
  2. so first the picture... i dont like showing my face online... so sorry. But yea starting weight 317lb and size 57 pants and 4XL shirt Now 186lb size 34 pants and size large shirt which is a little big So before surgery i did not date for a very long time. I was really big and really never found anyone interested in me. Now almost 1 year and 1 month after surgery i get hit on a ton... and for me being a guy that is awesome. Literally had 2 girls at work fighting over me which was insane. Had to put a stop to it because it was getting bad lol. But wow. i swear if i was taller than 5'4 i would probably get hit on more haha. But its nice. My best friend said to buy a wedding band and wear it to stop them from hitting on me lol. But its nice noticing girls looking and not looking at me like ewwww he is huge.
  3. Five-week follow-up for gastric bypass and now on lifetime food plan. No restrictions.  In all that time I was fortunate to get sick only one time, week 1, on Easter. Chicken broth...go figure.

    Stall?

I am 5.5 months out from mini bypass and wondering if I am in a stall. I haven’t had one yet but it’s been 15 days since I’ve lost anything. I’ve also noticed my restriction not kicking in - is that normal? Does that mean I’ve stretched my stomach?
  5. Hello Everyone, This is my 3rd week post-op and I've finally switched to soft foods!! However, I have gained 2 pounds. I'm still only having around 2 oz of food per meal. The only new items I've added are shredded chicken and low fat string cheese. Someone please tell me this is normal. I'm eating enough to gain 2 pounds but not enough to have a bm, what the heck!
  6. I just had my lap band surgery on 10-30-08, and today was my 2 week post op check. I have lost 23 lbs!!! So I am off to a good start, but I have not had any "real" food yet. My Dr has said I can start eating some deli meats, cheese, tuna, eggs - It is slow going but so far so good. I basically wanted to go ahead and sign up and say hello - I am open to any helpful hints or words of advice

    Stalled

Hello all, I know this topic has been discussed at great length but sometimes it can help to write it down and get specific direction for one's self. I have stalled and have adapted some bad habits. I find myself eating Cereal for Breakfast rather than eggs, slider foods for lunch instead of grilled chicken, etc. I just recently had my most "aggressive" fill so I am excited about that but still the 9 months of hard work has paid off but I just need to get back on track. I've tried doing just liquids for a couple of days to get free from the carbs or bad habits only to find myself starving after the days of liquid. The scale hasn't moved for over 2 months and I am ready to get it moving again. I know I just need to start eating right but any other ideas? Also, as I add cardio to my routine I find myself even more hungry than when I don't work out. I know this is normal but it is a different hunger that I am not a fan of. I really want to eat a large portion after working out. Basically, just venting and looking for "here's what I have done with success when I am where you are" experiences as I know what I am going through is normal. My one year anniversary is coming up in less than 60 days and I'd like to finish the year strong and get below 195 before March 3, 2011. Any and all advice welcome.
  8. Yesterday I had my first fill using xray to locate my port. It was very weird feeling, the doctor took 3 tries almost jumping on me to get the needle into the port. Finally it went in, and then the doctor tipped up the xray table and had me drink barium- while we watched the screen and he injected the saline. (no pain due to lidocaine, but lots of pressure) 1.5cc was too much (the barium stopped) and he settled on 1.2cc. Apparently there is a new lap band he started using 3 months ago... sounds different than others I've heard about where they add 5cc. So I am back to liquids for 2 days, then onto mush for 2 then I can start some "real grownup food." I'm almost feeling human again and semi-normal, but back to the very full feeling with each sip.
  9. It's been 4 weeks since my surgery and I am finally beginning to get the hang of things. Started the gym last week and even though it's a slow process it felt great to walk on the treadmill. I am down 37 pounds since surgery and it feels great. Im hoping not to catch this stomach bug that's been going around. It's already entered my home just trying to keep far away from my family. Other than that feeling great with my progress. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
  10. After 1 week pre-op diet and 2 weeks post-op I had lost 38lbs but like almost everyone else I'm stuck in my 3 week stall. How long did yours last?
  11. Tomorrow makes 5 weeks post op I am down 24 pounds,

  12. Post Op Day 6 ---> I've lost so much weight so far in Week 1 that my wife asked me..."Are you sure they didn't put a tapeworm in you?"

  13. one week till i get my iband!! the liquid diet is getting better.

  14. Tomorrow is week 3, lost 21lbs so far!! I get my first fill on the 12th, can't wait to see what happens next!

  15. Well it has been a rough week. Stayed true to the diet. Had to resume meds except diabetes. I feel so much better. I have to push walking next week.

  16. 3.5 weeks until surgery!!! I am approved and ready to go!! Need to lose my a little weight by Dec 23rd. I can't believe it! I'm soooooo excited!!!!

  17. I am betting you feel extremely better within a week! as you know I had my lap band the same day as you - this was my 4th surgery to my abdomen via laproscopic. My port hurts when I turn a certain way and the smallest burp bubbles are uncomfortable, other then that I am not hungry and holding down clear and milky proteins. I pray you feel better real soon!

  18. can't really find what to eat 2 weeks post op

  19. ONE WEEK AWAY TO CHANGE MY LIFE!

  20. Down 54 pounds per my last official weigh-in. But more importantly, went on three different hikes (including one straight up a mountain) on one day, and still had energy left by the end!

  21. Hi. New to site. Surgery is next week........

  22. Things are going okay for me I guess.. I was told to only loose 1 to 2 pounds a week and that seems to be what is going on.. I am trying REALLY HARD to do as I am supposed to, but it seems the devil likes to mess with my head. I had some cookies that I ended up giving to my one son, cause it was too much of a temptation and I was going to them as a snack instead of good stuff.

  23. Surgery on Sept 13 - I am now a week into it and still very sore but getting my strength back

  24. I hope you are doing weel- you and I both just passed week 3 post op!Keep up the good work!:-)

  25. Day 5 doing pretty good. Wish someone could share what and how they ate on the 2 week Pre opp diet? :(

For some reason I seem to be holding fluid more and wondering if anyone knows if the protein shakes can cause any of this?
