  1. Been stalled for almost a month now. Very depressing. Starting to wonder if this is it. My longest stall before now was three weeks. :(

  2. I hit my three-week stall. Actually gained two pounds. Not even discouraged. I may lose those by weeks end. No pun intended but I'm looking at the big picture. In time I'll be right where I need to be.

  3. Made it to the gym today, walked three miles...slowly. It is a beginning. I have been in a stall for a few weeks but feel good. Would like to move forward but I will need to learn to eat more protein and very little carbs. I need to stay away from anything too sweet because it yells my name when I remind myself how much I love sweets. Five weeks out and getting energy back, lost a size or so. Sometimes I feel like I am not going to lose weight any more, I guess it is just my brain wondering...

  4. Finally after over three weeks my stall has ended. I started out post op at 220 lbs, now I am 169. So happy this morning. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    6 weeks

Tell me your 6/7 week stats and what you're eating/ate! Would love to know. I'm in a stall right now. I've been in a stall for a while. I'm doing okay though! SW: 264.4 CW: 231 I'm tolerating everything fine. Can really feel restriction now to an extent. I wasn't the first 4 weeks which scared me. I'm tolerating all foods and trying all allowed foods. Which is everything right now. Minus the obvious. Today I went to taco Mac. Got three roasted wings down. Was stuffed as a goose. Crazy I used to eat 10! Excited

I am three weeks out and 30lbs down. I expect a stall at any point in time now. How long will a stall last for? What do I do when it does happen? Megan

    Oy!

You can't stretch your sleeve. Especially two weeks out on liquids. If you do manage to get that much in, I would worry more about busting the staple line. Soda doesn't stretch the sleeve. Docs advise against due to empty calories. To each their own on that regard. Every doc has their own post op diet plan. So what one members doc recommends, might not be in your docs plan. Always follow your docs plan. Well unless they advise eating 2oz galvanized nails each day. Then I may question... Most people, not all but most, will have a stall at three weeks. No odds are you aren't done losing. Some people can do about any food in moderation and lose/maintain just fine. Some people know there are certain trigger foods. So they choose to not indulge and do just fine as well. Okay I think I'm better.

    3 weeks out and hungry

I'm three weeks out tomorrow and I'm on pureed foods. I'm following exactly my Dr's directions and today I was starving. Plus my weight loss has stalled. At this point I could cry

    Plication Concerns

I don't know a lot about plication, but I do know that almost everyone hits a stall around weeks 3-4. Mine lasted over a week, some people's lasts really long, like two or three weeks or more. It sounds to me as if you are experiencing something normal and should trust your doctor. As long as you're doing your part( making good choices, ramping up exercise as you can), you're in a good place and doing great. Slow weight loss is good for your body. Don't worry!

    stalled

I stalled for three weeks from day 9. At 6 weeks today I am down 30 pounds total. The scale and weight loss is a constant stair step. Same a few days and lose. It also depends on my total digestion and hydration. I just keep on keeping on knowing I'm doing the best I can and trying to learn a new respect for my new normal. I am trying to slow my eating and chewing thoroughly. I am trying all sorts of foods but in moderation. Some days I just cannot stomach another shake and I'm glad I graduated to Protein bars as part of my regimen. I do know that when I workout outside and sweat from the 100 degree days, I have to stay super hydrated but usually the scale will move a little more. The best to all of you for accepting new as the hardest thing we have ever done but necessary and welcome in our improving lives.

    May 17th

I was sleeved may 16th and also got stalled at 265. My starting weight was 289. I have found that if you let go a bit and increase your calories by indulging in something like a cookie or a piece or your favorite dessert it will restart your metabolism because it feels like its being fed again. Don't go crazy and pig out lol. Just indulge for a day. I stalled at 265 for almost three weeks before I took a day off from clean eating. I ate cheese puffs and enjoyed a slice of watermelon (a big no no) and last but not least I had a vanilla latte. That weekend I dropped 4 lbs.
  12. I have read tons of posts about stalls and thought I was mentally prepared for the infamous "three week stall". Despite all that, when it happened to me, I got a little down. It's so frustrating to be eating so little and not lose any. ***just venting***. :-)

    Stale

Completely normal.actually it would be strange if you didn't stall at this point.you wereloaded with normal saline to keep you hydrated in the hospital.your swollen and retaining fluids inside still.i wouldnt weigh until a month post op for those reasons.when your stall breaks you may lose a pound a day for two weeks and stall again or lose three pounds stall a week later lose a couple more pounds.i never lost consistently or lost daily.

    2 weeks no weight loss

Many people don't show an initial loss on the scale because of IV fluids and swelling post-op. Have you talked to your NUT? Did your surgeon or NUT express any concern when you had your post-op follow-up? If not, I you are probably doing fine. Almost everyone hits a stall about three weeks post op. Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and exercise. Even though you are getting 70 grams of protein, your calories are very low. You should do better once you are able to get in more calories. Stall at week 3?

Did you stall after three weeks of losing or at the start of your third week?

    Curves weigh-in

Well I have some restriction. Not a whole lot, but it is a start. I want to wait until I'm completely stalled before I schedule another fill. It seems like the only time I manage to lose weight is the week I'm on liquids after a fill. Although I must admit, that I only stayed on liquids for about three days. I had my measuring day at Curves a few days ago. I'd lost 20 lbs. since I joined and they were all asking me what was my secret. So I pulled up my shirt and showed 'em my scars. Then I erased my name off the "Brag Board" 'cuz I'd really rather people didn't keep bringing it up. It makes me feel very awkward. I've never been good at accepting compliments & praise. I'm really very self-deprecating. Most of the time. Here are my stats from the Curves measuring day: Bust 49 in. -3 in. Waist 47in. -4 in. Abdomen 52 in. -3 in. Hips 50 in. -3 in. Thighs 28 in. -2 in. Arms 16.5 in. -2 in. Body fat 42.6% -1.9% (for stats from my 1st. Curves measuring day, see entry #24)

    Encouragement

Ayay, This is NOT a diet. This is a lifestyle change. I don't know how far post-op you are, but I'm guessing you're in the 3-5 weeks category. If so, search here for the 3 week stall. Almost everyone goes through that stall and finds that the scale is standing still for a bit. Take your measurements now, so you have something to refer to later, pay attention to how your clothes are fitting as well. Are they looser? If you did take pre-op measurements, are you losing inches? I lost my first pants size during my 3 week stall. I put them on, zipped them up, and they fell to the ground! I'm not following any diet except: 70grams of Protein and 64 oz of Water per day. I don't track calories, carbs, or anything else. I have started adding in more "good" carbs because I've upped my exercise routine, but that's about the only time I worry about carbs. Stalls will happen, but they happen because your body needs the time to adjust to the changes. I shape-shifted in the last few months, losing a good bit of mass in my hips and thighs and developing muscle definition in my arms, tummy and thighs. In that same three months, I lost 10 pounds. Now my weight loss has started up again, but I imagine that I'll go through another shift in a month or so. The best advice I can offer you is this: Don't let the scale run your life. Weigh less often and concentrate on your protein and water goals. The weight will take care of itself. Add in some exercise, even if it's 5 minutes on the treadmill or exercise bike. Once it's part of your routine, you'll miss exercise when you don't do it. Good luck!
  19. I am Begining week 4 and have noticed my weightless has slowed down quite a bit.,. Any tips to get it started again? Please and thank you!

    Protein and Herbalife

I am not familiar enough with Herbalife so don't know for sure, but you need to read labels very carefully. What is the carb to protein ratio? Doesn't Herbalife have a lot of carbs? At three weeks out you should be adding more food sources of protein. What does your NUT say? Are you following your program? Are you getting in all of your protein and fluids every day? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you avoiding starches and sugar? Are you exercising? Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery. If you are doing everything you are supposed to then you just may be experiencing your first stall. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall

    Stall Two Weeks Out

No! It's totally normal. Almost all of us have been through the first stall at two or three weeks. It WILL break. Just hang on. The body is rebalancing. Depression is common at this stage as well.

    Please help...

I weighed Bout the same as you pre op and had my surgery 3/22. First week i lost 15 lbs second week I gained three back. You are not doing anything wrong. Our bodies are getting used to the new program and holding on to everything. I finally lost those three pounds yesterday but only because I walked 5 miles in two days and spent two hours rigorously cleaning. For a lot of ppl exercise will get them losing faster or out of a stall like me. Good luck and don't get discouraged! HW 283. SW265. SD 3/22/13! CW 249

Am I Considered A Slow Loser?

I too am a slow loser, but so far I have lost consistently each week with the exception of the famous three week stall that lasted 3.5 weeks. My surgery was 12-28-11, I have lost 29 lbs since my surgery and that includes the pre- liquid diet. Most people think I've lost much more. So far the skin is pretty good considering I'm and old lady. I have always been a slow loser, have less than some to lose and have age against. It came on slow, so I will be patient. I see huge life changes already. At to months I was afraid my Dr would be upset, she was elated, also counted the weight I lost prior to surgery and thought percentage wise I was ahead of schedule. I had feared her reaction and she actually made me feel so successful. Keep up the good work!
  24. Just wanted to share my story so far. I had my 1 week appointment at the Dr.s today. I had my surgery last Thursday 4/14. It has been an easy recovery for me. I was out of the hospital the next afternoon, Friday. On Saturday, I had promised to dogsit and went to walk dogs three times. I also grocery shopped. Sunday was two more walks and some errands. I have been out every day since. I have been doing doing some walks with my husband and yesterday we did almost three miles. The doctor said everything looked great. I am down 18 pounds, 10 since the surgery and 8 from my five day pre-op liquid diet. My starting weight was 237 and I am 5'7" tall. I can't see or feel any difference in my body yet though. Getting the Protein in is tough. I do not like the shakes but have been able to tolerate the Isopure drinks which is a big help since a 20oz bottle has 40 grams of protein. I usually get my 64 ounces of Water in and am getting about 60 grams of protein. I am averaging around 400-500 calories a day. My eating plan was nothing at all the afternoon/ evening after surgery, then 2 days of Clear liquids followed by 12 days of full liquids. Next is 2 weeks of purée and then 2 weeks of softs. Full diet taken slowly starting 6 weeks after surgery. 7 more days until pureed food which I am looking forward to - only to try and get more protein through food. I'm not hungry and making meals for my family hasn't bothered me. I am dreading the thought of an upcoming stall. I am also fearing losing my hair as it is super thin to begin with. I am off pain meds and have been able to sleep on my side since the second night. My only problems are slight nausea here and there, but not bad enough to have to take the meds they gave me, and diarhea. I was also lucky as my surgeon did not put in drains. My other issue is that i had the top of my hand turn black and blue, but it was not the hand that had the IV. I know others have had more issues after their surgery and I feel bad as I read their posts. I just wanted to share my experiences so far. Please excuse any typos as I am typing this on my phone and it won't let me go back and reread or edit. Good luck to all the upcoming surgeries!

    3 days post op

Congratulations on the recovery! My recovery went very well also. Just be sure to still take it easy and allow your body time to recover. Just as a heads up...many of us experience a stall at three weeks. It's completely normal and weight loss will start again. Best of luck and welcome to the Losers' Bench!
