Hey Kiz, how are you doing? Sorry I just saw this. I am still like a fish out of water in this site. Well I am still on my full liquid and doing pretty good. I will however never eat creamed soup again! I have lost 30 pounds total and I am just so thrilled. Everything is healing, only problem, my port. But I have been told to give it time and try to quit bumping it. Thanks so much for thinking of me. Oct 9 I think I get my first fill. I get to start my next food phase, mushies, after that visit. I cannot wait!
I am so glad I choose this path. This is perfect and I am so pleased. Take Care Debbie

I'm so glad to hear you are doing well! 37 pounds is fantastic! Way to go!
I'm doing well. I'm up to 64 pounds, but it has definitely slowed down. But, I'm being realistic about how this should work, and 64 pounds in 6 months is a great accomplishment. So, I'm happy. My last fill has left me much tighter, and I'm finding it harder to eat foods I could eat with no problem before, but I'm doing ok wtih it.

Can anyone please help me! I had my surgery on 9/25 My chest and stomach are so sore I'll be glad when the gas is gone I think I'll fill a lot better. What are some food suggestions do you have for week 3/4 and 5/6? Anything's got to be better than clear liquids.

Thanks for asking. I didn't have a lot of pain beyond the first day. I am getting really hungry now, though. I think I feel weak because I haven't had any solid food since Sept. 7th. How are you doing with the food (or no food)?

Hello all,
I began my journey to a thinner me last Monday night. My first Dr. visit is on Tuesday. I'm anxious and scared. I want it done yesterday, but all I can think of is food and how little I will be able to eat. When I 'm not thinking about that, I'm thinking of the million things I will enjoy if I get thinner. I guess my number one question is - Is it worth it?
Thanks for all your support in advance.

Hi BlooEyez--I loved all your food ideas and your before/after pics are AMAZING! I am getting banded Oct. 22nd. Looking for ideas and inspiration!

Wow, you have a long liquid and mushy food diet schedule. Although, I think my mushy diet is almost a normal diet anyway, so I don't anticipate to big of a change from going from mushy to real food. It's amazing how different these diets are.
My port is just above my waistline. I had my two week check up yesterday, and the doc said that as time goes on, and I continue to lose weight, it may move up just a bit more. Right now, what's left of the incisions feel a little sensitive at times. I feel like I'm healing pretty quickly. I think having older children, and not having to push myself too hard to soon has helped a lot in my recovery. - kiz

I later found out that is not true!! I wish I would have shecked out Mississauga as well.I cant say much for the pre-op diet...I was really bad! They said I only had to do it for 3-5 days but I found it so hard to stick to it as I was driving down to Toronto. There isnt much for choices in fast food areas :s My fault I didnt try very hard either...but i was only 212 lbs and I figured my liver would be in so much better shape then someone who was 200lbs heavier than me and did the diet as well. I know I'm bad! lol PLEASE keep me updated as to how things go for you!
Take Care!!

Do you have alot of weight to lose? I started at 273 and I have lost 26 pounds so far. I hope to lose the 10 pounds they want me to lose and another 10 or so before Christmas. It will be awsome.
I'm going to go to as many support group meeting they have at first. I love these boards to see how people are feeling and whats working for them. It's been nice to see what foods have pro & cons too.
My mother in law went to Mexico this summer. She's lost about 30 pounds but is still eating everything and says she's not full. I think she needs another fill. She doesn't have doctors to really follow her and give support like we will. Good luck next week.

60 pounds is soooooo awesome!!!!!! I'm so proud of you. I'm ok, i have had a lot of outside stressors going on here lately, and of course, it makes me want to eat comfort foods and all the wrong foods. It's a long story that i will save for another day... So glad to hear from you!!!! Talk to you soon, Julie

Hi Lisa,
I just now saw this !! Congrats on getting banded very soon
!! Yes the liquid diet is tough,I was only on it for a week and I did have a hard time because I was hungry but the biggest piece of advice I can give you ,is to keep an eye on the big goal!! That's what I had to keep reminding myself,I had to keep remembering that this was going to be a lifestyle change, which I firmly believe that's one of the reasons why they want us on the liquid diet before hand. I had to come to the acceptance that I have to look at food differently and look elsewhere for that comfort.
You can do this,Lisa!! I'm rooting for you
!!!
I never saw the PM ....hmmm.

I'm doing pretty good. I stated soft foods today. I got in 680 calories. That more than doubles what I have been getting. I feel pretty good. How about you?

Hiya! Your hair is so pretty <3 I do exercise, though not a super ton... probably in the gym 3 times a week (elliptical or water aerobics) and then I walk a mile or so with my kids once or twice a week. I've been trying hard to stick to the food rules but I do "cheat"- had an ice cream sandwich yesterday!

Lol well... it hurt first off. They use a needle thats about 4 inches long and as thick as a piercing needle like a 14 gauge. Well after they stick you, you can watch on the x-ray machine the liquid going in. They make you drink that nasty barium to make sure everything goes down ok. I got 3.5 cc's in my band. Now when they took the needle out i swear that hurt more going in. I hope for you they numb the area b/c yea i'm a baby when it comes to that stuff but really that was no prick, it was more like a bee sting! I do feel the restriction a little but not as much as i thought i would. They said that i should be eating 4 oz of food total each meal, but i'm still eating more than that like 6-8 oz. I hope I didn't scare you! I'm sure you will do better than me!!

I'm down 14lbs since having my band placed. I'm learning what foods work and what doesn't. I would love to eat a burger (and maybe fries too) but I don't know how my new stomach will like it. Anyways, I'm happy that I'm loosing weight. It feels really, really good. I'm exercising too and it feels great.

@ caramellyregina - I rarely drank shakes nor did I measure my food. I just ate sensible. Cheat? You better believe it! But I also knew that cheating long term wasn't going to get me where I wanted so every now-an-then is okay. Depriving yourself only creates sabatoge.
