Ok I'm 47 years old and perimenopausal. I reached my goal weight. Yay! But the last 50 lbs. off I didn't lose a single inch of my waist. I would still like to lose about 10 or 15 more pounds, mostly from my waistline. But you can't target weight loss. I'm thinking the odd way I'm losing weight is due to my being perimenopausal. And think that maybe a low dose birth control might help. Or hormone replacement therapy. I would also like help with regulating my cycle as it's very short right now. Anybody have any insight or knowlge about this? Perimenopausal women on BC that are losing from their waistline? BC suggestions? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Emotional Roller Coaster Before Surgery. Is This Normal?
andi0120 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for 2/29 less then a week away and I find myself an emotional wreck! I can't sleep my nerves are going crazy. I'm excited but still nervous. I've done enough research that I'm aware of side effects and mishaps but honestly that not bothering. For every horror story I read there are 10 awesome ones. This morning I actually had a wave of sadness hit me that I may not be able to eat certain foods again. From that emotion came anger that I allowed my happiness to be become so dependent on something life food! Over the years the weight has definitely make my self esteem close to zero. Even on days when I thought I looked good the pictures after the fact were a reality check of what I truly looked like. I turned 40 in Jan. My boys are now teenagers who only need me for rides lol. I spent much of my 20's and all of my 30s being a single mom. So I felt like this would begin a new chapter of my life where I could start taking care of me a little more. Anyway just felt like venting. I love this site because it allows me to do so. Just confused why I have been hit with this sadness. Anyone else go through this???? -
Caffeine? Husband?
To Be Thin 2011 replied to A New Day's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, on a scale of 1 - 10 for coffee freak I was a 13 !!! I could not go without coffee, typically drinking 4 cups b/4 leaving house for work, then 2 pots of coffee @ work through the day... I LOVE COFFEE. I gave it up... I wanted this surgery so bad and I wanted it to work and to lose weight, I totally and faithfully followed everything my doc & nut said for the first 4 months...then summer came and I figured I have went this long without coffee why go back to drinking it now... my husband does have coffee on the weekend and OMG, it smells so incredibly awesome... I feel once winter comes I will have a cup of coffee, or maybe two.... but I will not go back to being a coffeeholic like I was! LOL... Set a short term goal...comitt yourself to following all your doc & nut recommendations to the letter....and you will see better results... Good Luck!! -
I dont know what to be.. Proud or disappointed.
ProudGrammy replied to jack35's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@jack35 there is an old, but true expression on this board (some people might be sick of hearing it ) "the one thing we have in common is that we're all different!!!" "they" say losing 10 lbs a month PO is average/good you've lost 67 lbs in 6 months - woo hoo!!!! OMG that IS something to be proud of you can look, but take no mind how much or little others are losing, in what time period etc. only think of yourself with positive vibes around you not sure about you, but when i was sad and depressesd in my "past" life i would eat, and eat, and eat some more chin pointed upward easier said than done sometimes keep eating and drinking as you've been told, i'm sure you are doing that things will continue to go upwards, or "down" whichever way you look at it good luck kathy -
I was told no lifting 10+ pounds and light walks. I was banded 10/9.

Hi LVMOM, I would definately try to get in to get a fluro so you can check the position of your band. I don't want to scare you but this is pretty serious and you need to make sure that you dont' have a slip. You have done outstanding with your WL since your banding but you shouldn't be having these reoccuring problems, espc since you had more fluid taken out of your band. I had similar problems about 2 mos ago and I thought I had a slip for sure. I had xrays done and my band was fine but very irritated and swollen, so my doc completely unfilled me for a month and gave me some Nexium to calm down my stomach. It sounds like you may have some reflux too possibly. Don't take no for an answer if they try to tell you that you are fine. Demand a fluro and then go from there. Personally, I would get a complete unfill to let your band and stomach rest and recooperate for a bit. It helped me immensely. Good luck to you. ~Liz~ 03/10/06 241/164/160 5'7''

bandage question
travelinsnorkel replied to itsallaboutMEb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed to take my gauze off the next day and then the steri strips started coming off themselves in7-10 days. I had to pull them off because not wanting to do anything normally, I had an allergic reaction to the steri strips (the adhesive, I'm also allergice to bandaid adhesive) and they couldn't be on anymore! -
Good luck! You're having more real food than I was so soon after the surgery. I couldn't have any real food for 3 1/2 weeks. I have been on real food for about 10-12 days and love it! One food that I am allowed is crab meat and I love lump crab. I eat it a lot and it goes down great.I have the hip cups when I eat too fast or drink too fast. I get them a few times a day. Burping, I have always done and passing gas I think is from my shakes. I use a blender with lots of ice to make a really thick shake.

had_a_gas posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I accompanied my daughter to Hospital Jerusalem and am now wondered how the rest of the group who we checked in with is doing, now that it's 4 months post op. South Carolina, Ontario, Oklahoma? You guy's out there? Washington state mom is thinking about you and wondering how things went once you got home. How are you adjusting to life with a sleeve? Also, Seattle from the recovery house...you out there? -
On solids now, already feeling discouraged
Scoobie replied to Scoobie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely do have 6 cc's in my 10 cc band, was done on surgery day. This practice of surgeons starting doing this during surgery this past summer. I found out the exact amount when I spoke to the nutritionist about 10+ days ago. -
I was banded on 06/11 and I took 2 weeks off from work. I have a desk job but I was still in too much pain to return to work after one week. It wasn't until about Day 10 when I started feeling like myself again. I went back to work yesterday and feel good now, besides a lil soreness around my port. But I definitely think your body needs that extra time to heal. Yes, everyone heals differently but it would be nice for you to have the option to take the time off u need especially with such a demanding job. Good Luck!!

I was sleeved on the 22nd by the surgical specialist group of NJ. Dr. Boynton was my doctor as he was awesome. I've been feeling pretty good except for the left side incision. It is really sore probably because it is healing. The only other issue I have is coughing.

I had my surgery exactly 4 weeks ago. I've been feeling great; the only complaint I have is fatigue. I've been jogging for 6 days now, and today I started feeling guilty about not lifting weights. So today after my jog, I started to doing lat rows (40 lbs), that went fine; then I did one set of seated rows (40 lbs). Only then did I remember I'm not supposed to be doing any lifting over 15lbs! I totally forgot! I stopped immediately once I remembered. I felt a slight throbbing pain on my left side of my tummy. It gradually went away. Then I started drinking my Water and the pain returned (nothing very severe, 4 out of 10). I'm terrified of a leak and I want to know if anyone else had any similar experiences or words of wisdom. I will not be lifting any weights again, I can't believe how dumb I am sometimes.

Oooo....i Ate Too Fast.
KevinsBabyGirl85 replied to ACLakey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is one of the worst feelings ever....one day while I was driving I totally forgot about my surgery and was extremely thirsty grabbed my water and gulped it down and there was nothing I could do it was way too late and I was in pain for 10 minutes I got the heebe geebe's...definitely drink and eat slowly! -
At 5 lbs in 6 - 7 weeks you're barely under the statistical 1 - 2 lbs/week average, but you're spot on for an overall average. You're doing great, and just think - those 20 lbs are 20 that you'll never see again. :ban: This is an aspect that interests me. From looking at various people's stats, the informal average seems to be about 10#/month. Thank goodness for the first 6 months, eh?

I was banded just 10 days ago. The feeling I have is one of tightness in my chest, and almost like I want to burp. I'm told that will go away.

Hello! My name is Connie. I was banded on 12/12/07 in Dallas, TX by Dr. Benavides w/ Lap Band Solutions. I am from (and live) in MAINE- but made the choice to travel to Dr. B for my surgery because of his stellar reputation etc. My pre-diet (and highest ever!) weight was 296 lbs. At 4 months post op I was at 244 lbs. It's SO amazing to me!! I had my last fill on 01/29/08 and my next one is scheduled for 05/06/08. I stretched it out a little longer the I should have, as I'm feeling as though I would benefit from a fill N-O-W, now! I have an AP-S band. If someone could tell me how to 1)post pictures and 2) get those cute ticker things...that would be really cool! Connie:teeth_smile:

In about 10 minutes I would have drunk 32oz and I don't feel full at all!!! I can eat 4oz of applesauce and still don't feel full....call me crazy but if it wasn't for the incisions and little pain I would've thought they never did anything lol

aug 12 been sleeved
cinderella123 replied to ladiebashful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 8/10/11. I had 1 day stay in hospitial. I slept the majority of the first 3 days. Yesterday was the first day able to stay awake all day. Each day has gotten better and seem to get more energy with each day. It was almost like recovering from a very bad case of the flu (in regards to energy level). I go and have staples removed tomorrow. I find it difficult drinking the G2 as I was a devoted water drinker prior to surgery. As each day passes I am able to get in more fluids. I was very concerned about making sure I took in enough fluids. So far so good. Plan to return to work on Wed. My husband and I went downtown and walked through the shops today and had a wonderful time. I was able to make in through several shops and had a great time spending time with my husband. Also love the antique shops -
I just returned from a week in the Caribbean.... I have lost 215 lbs and I am clocking in at 162. I wear a 8/10 or medium on the bottom and 6/8 or small on top. I am 5'9"'and I felt like the largest girl on the beach. Now I know deep down I wasn't and I could easily identify heavier people than me but still I would look at someone and say to hubby...gee I want to be her size and he would say... You are!!! I don't know when that stops.... If anyone has the secret... I am all ears. PS I lost 3 lbs on vacay!

Welcome to the other side! Each day it gets better and better. I was sleeved on 10/15.

Hello all! I was sleeved 9/3! Yay! Surgery went without complications! Praise the Lord! I know I am being impatient, but when I got home I weighed myself and was 10 pounds heavier! For those that have been in my shoes, how long before you start to notice a change? How long before the swelling goes down? I have been following the diet to the T and have been drinking my water. I am so excited to continue working on new me!
