  1. I know this is common but I am at 4 months and I have had a stall this week. I can't seem to get back on track and motivated. I feel like I am eating when I shouldn't be. I sent my Nut. a list of what I eat on a normal day and I hope she gets back to me. I think my head is getting the best of me.

When Did You Feel Restriction ?

I got my first fill today at 4 weeks post op. I had 6 cc's put in and wow I felt restriction right away, I am almost afraid it's too tight but I am getting food in and don't feel sick there is just a slight feeling of pressure. I drank a glass of water and ate soup for dinner and it all went down so now we shall see after I sleep on it. So exciting!!!!
  3. My real weight loss did not "kick in" fully until I started exercising. I didn't in the beginning but the exercise changed my loss from small with lenghty plateaus in between to a steady weekly loss for the most part. This was with about 5 hours of exercise a week on average. For my body, I am sure that the band and eating habits probably got me 60% to goal . . . but I never could have closed the gap for the last 40% without exercising.
  4. So here's a weird happenstance. I was super upset 2 weeks ago because I only lost 1lb all week. This week, on the other hand, I dropped 4.5lbs in a week. Now here's the weird part. The week before my 1lb loss I was eating well and going to the gym The week before I lost 4.5 lbs I was eating my sisters confectionary (like chocolate and sugar and everything we should not eat ever) and skipped the gym a few days. So why did I lose more weight? My theory is perhaps because I was eating too few calories beforehand... I was eating 550-900 cals per day the week I only lost 1lb and closer to 1200 when I lost 4.5 I am by NO MEANS saying any of us should eat any of the JUNK I was eating, it's not good at all. Like so bad that I was dumping. But isn't that weird? Obviously I need to focus on eating more because it helps. Healthier things that is. I only ate that crap because of the holidays. I feel like if i let myself splurge from time to time for special occasions then I won't eat crap on the daily - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgerversary 6/11/2012
  5. Shaun t rocking body, hip hop abs, and if you dare insanity DVD....if you love dancing the first 2 are the best, insanity is more extreme... I hate the gym with these cd's I don't need to go, he works every part of the body Try not to stress, I personally hide the scale and weigh in weeks at a time.

    Is VSG appropriate for me?

What other vitamins would I have to take? I already take Vit D twice weekly and B 12 injections every other week. How long did it take you to lose your weight?

    Horrible Acid Reflux

I will be 4 weeks post op this Thursday and still have to take acid reflux daily. I take one omeprazole every day (cut in half with a pill slicer) which seems to help after you've taken it for several days in a row. And I swallow a few teaspoon fulls of Gaviscon before bed a few times a week. Gaviscon is the best!! Doesn't taste very good going down, but it lasts through the night. I still can't seem to drink orange juice or eat super citrus-acidic foods...those seem to bring on a tummy ache. But all in all, with the daily omeprazole at the very least, I feel pretty good! I hope you start feeling better soon. Hang in there!

    Cross Country Flying?

I really don't know, but for anyone (WLS or not) it's important to get up and move about once an hour and hydrate to prevent blood clots. Don't know if your risk would higher or lower 4 weeks post op.

    Coffee after surgery?

you'll find a lot of differences out there between surgeon's offices. Mine said no coffee at all the first three months, decaf OK starting at the three-month mark, caffeine OK after six months, but only one cup (of caffeinated) a day. No limitations on decaf.
  10. WEIGHTLOSS STALLS?!

I too am stalled. Can't complain, but it is playing with my head a little. I also noticed I am not as diligent with my program as well because I was losing and cheating over the holidays a little bit. Nothing crazy, but I think it gave me false sense of security. I am now getting back to the basics- Thanks for sharing

    Started full liquids

I was the same way. After about a week post op one of the nurses said I should have already gone and told me to.take milk or magnesium. That def got things going. Ever since then I've been regular. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
  16. I was starting to notice my weight loss stalling, so I took a good hard look at everything I was doing. I was in denial, thinking that the band "wasn't working" and that I shouldn't have to work so hard to lose weight. In reality, I was eating too fast, too much, and too long. I was also drinking much more than I should and not exercising at all. I started a workout routine, tracked my calories on myfitnesspal.com, cut down on alcohol, and ate more mindfully, and the pounds started coming off again. Remember that the Lap Band is a tool, not a magic wand. I tend to forget that sometimes, even all these months later. You can do this, but it does require work and effort on your part. The Band can only do so much.
  17. I am over a month sleeved and still have not been given permission to exercise. I went to the dr yesterday and was given my new menu which includes solids now, finally!!!! But I still have to wait 2 more weeks to begin any type of exercise. Not sure the rationale but this is what I have been instructed to do.
  18. I think I might have had unrealistic expectations. My boss had bypass surgery last year and I remember seeing her a month out and she looked like a different person already. I think I pictured the same happening for me. I'm trying not to be discouraged and not forget that we started from very different places. I was 223 at my biggest, 214 before pre op diet, 206 on day of surgery. Today I am 185. Surgery was 12/3 so today is exactly 5 weeks post op. She was over 300. My doc tells me that people who start at a lower weight with a lower BMI ( mine was 38.4 at my biggest) will have a different journey, but when I come on here I see others who started from a similar place who have already lost way more than me. Anyone else feeling a little discouraged? Overall, I'm sooo glad I did it. Just need to find my patience with the marathon and stop expecting a sprint.

    I Need Encouragement!

I go through the same thing and mine normally happens at least 2 weeks out of every other month so I end up with about 5-6 weeks of weight loss then 2 weeks without any and the cycle repeats itself!

    HALLOWEEN CANDY!!!!

Great to hear you guys are regaining control. Wow - I'm glad I'm not the only one. Unfortunately for us, it was "big candy bar" year at our house so along with the "fun size" goodies, I've also had to wrangle with the temptation of full size M&Ms. I've been averaging three pieces a day. My thought is to bring them all to work tomorrow. Darn will power (of which there is none). Hang in there! We're all in this together! May
  21. I am two weeks post op and I have no trouble getting fluids down and I have started mushies with no problem. However, when I drink the Protein shakes I always feel very nauseated and tired afterwards. Does anyone know why? Both carbs and sugars are low. I haven't had a problem with anything else except these and it really makes it tough to get my protein in. Thanks
  22. I am post-op surgery October 12, 2012. I just had my second fluid remevol within 2 weeks today. I am not able to hold any fluid or food down. My doctor says I may possibly have a slippage and have to get a swallow test. I was also told possible surgery and have it put back into place. Does anyone know how the slippage is possible? I forgot to ask my doctor about this and what are my options. I also need to know how soon after the removal of fluid can I eat solid food. So far I have not eaten and I am afraid if I try I will vomit. Please help!

    stomach spasms?? anyone?

You poor thing...the first week is the hardest. I was sleeved a week and a half ago and my stomach still feels a little off. Try mixing a chicken broth with 2/3 Water....that helped me a lot the first week. I can now eat all the mushie stuff i need and i can hold down the Protein drinks fine. In the morning i warm a chocolate shake to have as warm cocoa. About the bloody nose. Set up a doctors appt. that does not sound good. best of luck

    Final September results

So basically your 17 pound loss was in a single week? Awesome job! You should be proud of the progress you've already been making. Plus, I wouldn't discount the weight you lost pre-op. My ticker includes it. :-) I think about the weight that we gain from surgery from the IV fluids, and it makes me realize that you really did lose more than 17 pounds in that week since surgery.
  25. Lately I have noticed that about 3 times a week I wake up with alot of of stomach pain. Enough to not want to eat anything, it subsides after about 30 minutes or so..But it has become more frequent. No nausea or vomiting involved just a whole lot of discomfort.I am almost 3 months post op and I take Ursidol twice a day to prevent gallstones..so I dont think its my gall bladder..Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal?...
