I can tell you are excited. I hope you have positive supportive people to boost you on . Much success. Good for you. I will have my surgery on April 25th also. I am on Day 10 of the full fast. I'm not sure what I weighed on the bathroom scales before. At Drs. office I was 231. Today I am 220/in clothing.

I tell you what that was a really great self esteem moment for me. I haven't been this thin in over 10 years and even though I still have a ways to go I'm already feeling so much better about myself and the way I look.

This past week has been filled with so many NSV's that I have to share... 1) my 16 year old outgrew a pair of his 30X34 jeans- they fit me!!!!! 2) I recently started a new job & still haven't got acquainted with everyone- I overheard someone describe me as "the tall SKINNY girl with blondish hair"!!!! 3) I went to North Face & bought size 8 khakis!! (I thought size 8 jeans I have were a fluke!!) 4) I ran into someone who hasn't seen me in a few months & she didn't recognize me!!!! 5) I never ever saw a resemblence between my children & me until reently- I found that we have the same facial features/bone structure, mine was just hiding!!! 6) Oh yeah- I've caught men lookin'!!!! 7) My shoes are too big!! 8) I made an appointment with plastics, for a few minor enhancements!!! 9) I walked by a mirror the other day & thought "she's got on the same shirt as me", only to realize "IT IS ME"!!!! 10) I posted all of my old clothes for sale on a classified site, I'll NEVER need them again!!!!!! Hope all of my fellow-sleevers enjoy the little NSVs as much as I do!!!!!

What is a pouch test? When do I need to do one? I am 10 months post RNY and am very happy with115 lbs lost, but of course it is starting to slow down a bit, and I find myself starting to feel (or is it "think?") hungry again. I want to loose another 30 lbs and don't want to "fall off the wagon" at this point. I am still so thankful for this surgery and the drs/staff/family that are supporting me!!!! Love my new life! I want these habits to STICK, and I know that means I have to continue to WORK the program. Just needed to hear from someone out there, I haven't been on in a while. Hope all of you are well.

I hope that I don't have to be a year out, 10 pounds under goal, or wearing size 0 jeans to be considered a success, but, by golly, I feel like one. No matter what program I've been on in the past, it took me 6 months to lose 50 pounds. There was no difference between Weight Watchers, medically-supervised fasting, the "crap" band, or PhenFen. 50 pounds equaled 6 months. Well, tomorrow is my 12 weeks, and I'm down 47 pounds. I haven't hit a stall yet (I know that I will). My hair is thinning a bit, but I've been through that before with childbirth and illness. I'm finally into a size 16, as in "off-the-rack" at regular clothing stores. I eat small quantities of healthy food, feel satisfied, and watch not only the scale but my body measurements change, too: From a 39" waist to 35. For many of you, that's still monstrous, but for someone of my age and build, it's amazing. Has it been work? Yes and no. It took awhile to get my regimen together: liquid Vitamins and minerals, enough Protein (usually), enough Water (seldom), remembering my PPI (urp), and giving up high-acid foods and beverages. But it's as if I have the appetite that I was born with. I was a skinny kid, and because of various influences and events, I ballooned at 13. So, I again have that skinny kid's appetite. I don't binge, I stay low-carb, I don't have over-powering cravings for foods, and I'm happy with my new lot in life. Do I have a ways to go? Of course, but how far, I have no idea. I don't know what an optimum weight is for me. I'd love to wear a size 14. A 12? I haven't worn that size since I WAS 12. It's so blasted exciting to see the possibility of a normal body size. I love this sleeve. I love my surgeon. And I love you all for being such wonderful encouragers and examples.

Way to go! I was sleeved on 10/3 and I'm loving it too.

been a while since I've posted.... last I was around, I was preparing to have gall bladder removed...turns out that wasn't the problem... no gastro problems of recent... I am 16 months post op... got to normal BMI at 10 months... am now actually under my goal... wear size 4...21 BMI...25% BF was APPROVED for panniculectomy on first submission to AETNA and was supposed to have that surgery 2 weeks ago however, GYN issue became emergent and I ended up with hysterectomy that day instead... approval good for 6 months so hopefully I will get it in the Spring... Dr says I can get it as soon as 6 weeks post-hysterectomy however I am only 2 weeks out and in a LOT of pain still so that's definitely not happening...besides I need to go back to work for about 2 or 3 months to build up some FMLA time. I have always followed my own eating/exercise path post-VSG...glad to say its still working... I eat plenty of carbs, always start with Protein...plenty of Water.... take my vits & Probiotics.... I haven't really exercised in nearly 2 months and I maintained weight during that time, even managed to get down another 3 or 4 pounds....Plastic Surgeon says for me to expect another 5 pound loss once my extra skin is removed.... I cannot believe at that point I will be struggling NOT to lose weight... MIND BLOWING!!

I had a stomach virus for 4 days and I lost 10 pounds. Only crackers and water helped me survive. Now I can eat again and I have gained back 8 of the 10 pounds. I hate it because I was so glad I had lost that much weight. Other banders have said they never gain weight with lap band so I'm just kinda upset that I have.

Long ago I used to post the sudden little NSVs that appeared in my life.....it got to the point after a few months postOp where I could easily generate about 10 a week that sneaked up on me. Some were such as "realizing I could wear my cowboy hat IN my pickup without it mashing into the roof" or wondering whether a squad of carpenter leprechauns hustled around in restaurants rebuilding the always-too-tight booths so I could actually fit IN them comfortably.... NSV covers a lot a ground even when the scale numbers don't seem to be cooperating. Having to box up my old XXXX stuff and return it to Omar the Tent maker, and learning there are entire stores that DON'T have an XXXX size in them! was another NSV. Cheers,

I feel like a million bucks. When I had my sleeve done 6 years ago I was in terrible ain, was very nauseous, and vomiting. Not this time! The changed the medications they used and thin time was great. I was admitted at 10:45 in the OP by 1pm. I was discharged less than 24 hours later. -

Showing off my "I lost it" t-shirt from my Project10 Challenge where every time I lose 10 pounds my company donates 30 protein shakes to an overweight child....in front of my new ride!!! -
I don't know about Costco. I picked up a case (of 12) for around 18 or 19 dollars) at SAMs. I see online you can get a case of 18 for around 27 bucks.

You go girl, I am very sore right now but I'm using my treadmill 10 minutes at a time 4 times a day.

It is a gorgeous 71° in Dallas today - perfect for my first walk post-op. I walk 3 days a week to pick up my kids from school. Walking with my energetic 7 and 10 year olds kept me on my toes, that's for sure!

Hi all, wondering if anyone else has a similar experience: some days I can eat no problem and other days the sight of food repulses me. Some days I hit 60 grams of protein other days I barely get to 40. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar?

I use Biotin daily. Some say it doesn't work, but for me, I've been on it for 10 months now and my hair has never been more healthy, strong and thick. It's also great for your nails. Old school remedy is Gelatin capsules - I have family that swears by it.

I was sleeved on 2/19. I'm still on liquids but having an extremely hard time getting them in due to the "slimes". No matter what I drink it happens. I haven't taken in protein because the sliming mixed with the shakes consistency makes me dry heave like crazy. At this point I don't know what to do.

Hey everyone, I have a quick question. ...what were your doctors orders as far as diet after surgery? I had my surgery on 6/13, was put on clear liquids from day 1-10, soft foods such as yogurt, pudding and cream of soups day 10-20, then mashed up baby like food from day 20-30.

jaunderwood - you didn't lose ONLY 40 pounds....turn it around - WOW, you have LOST 40 pounds! That's fabulous!!!! YAY!!! Would you ever in your history have been thrilled with losing 10 or even 20 pounds??? If yes, then Celebrate 40!!! It isn't a race; you will get there. Just believe it and live it - sometimes easier said then done - I know ALL about it!!!
-
Ah, thanks  I meant that mostly in a joking way, but I seriously would like to be at goal by Dec. 31st. That's less than 10 lbs. per month - I hope I can do it! If not, well hey... anything to keep me reaching for it.

I'm losing weight because I want to....
Rockstar_Jen replied to general_antiope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I want to be able to keep up with my 9 & 10 year old little girls. I want to join them at the park instead of watch from the sidelines. I want to ride roller coasters and not wonder if the bar is going to lock into place. I just want to live again! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk -
My doctor and I discussed it, but that is also because I have an autoimmune thing that makes me prone to clotting. I do have a history of DVT and my rheumatologist wanted me to be on lovenox for a week post op. But in the end I did not get the filter, nor did I have to do a week of lovenox. I just had 3 shots while I was in the hospital. Of course I never quit taking my aspirin either though, even prior to surgery. I have never heard of the requirement of being over a certain age or BMI to get a filter though and 10 days on Lovenox seems awfully long for this procedure, but I guess that is why I am not the doctor. There are so many different opinions on pre and post op dieting that I guess it stands to reason that there will be diff opinions by the surgeons on this matter too...LOL. Good Luck either way you chose.

During my 10 day full liquid period before surgery I was craving pickle juice. I drained a jar before surgery. I have wanted it a few times since surgery but not so much after i got out of the liquid stage where everything was SO sweet. Just want to add I am the only person in my house that eats pickles!

Getting sleeved tomorrow 2/17 any tips or advice?
Islagirl#1 replied to shelly7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! I'm 3 weeks our. The first 4 days I couldn't stand trying to get protein drinks in and just took it very, very slowly. By day 5 something clicked and things became easier. My biggest piece of advice it to walk often - the most painful part of the surgery is just getting all of the gas out that they fill you with. On a scale of 1 to 10 my pain never hit more than a 3, which was a pleasant surprise
