  1. Ok .. so I have had time to relax and gather myself since my breakdown early this morning.. (see previous posts lol) . I am on full liquids today and had my 2nd "meal" which was pudding again.. because im a little nervous about trying another new thing just yet.. maybe tomorrow lol. It went down SUPER easy and tasted delicious. I also heard that its ok to incorporate Protein with the 3 meals and not JUST between the meals. . So.. I added a scoop of Protein powder (Cookies n cream flavor) to my vanilla pudding and it was SO GOOD. is this ok to do?? I dont see how it wouldnt be.. but you never know I guess. Still have some some soreness where the drain tube was but whatever.. the hole looks like its smaller than yesterday so I guess thats good. I am learning to sip more.. sometimes i just forget.. still a learning process. I am getting less bubbles with the Water.. and no bubbles with juice/crystal light at all. I just cant believe i have to eat like this for 5 wks! OMG how much pudding, yogurt, cream of wheat, applesauce and Soup can a person take LOL Any tips on other things to eat that are ok at the full liquid stage?? I am going to try to mix in some protein powder with my water and see how that goes now... that still counts as water intake right??

Thanks!! I was wanting to try the Fage Greek yogurt with honey, and just wasn't sure. I'll try a small bit and see how it goes.

    Im friggin stuck!!!!

Had a hard boiled egg and I think some egg whites are stuck. I cannot eat yogurt without bringing it back up. I have been fine until today. I've been stuck for like 9 hours so far. Guess I should go back to liquids until it go down.
  4. I am 7 wks out and on solids now. I don't know what stage you're dr has you on, but here is my answer to other similar questions: My favorite things to eat right now are the Sam's Choice Stuffed chicken Breasts, they are filled with various things like cheese, mushrooms, spinach, bacon. 34-37g Protein each but I can't eat a whole breast. I make 2 meals out of one. I also like eggs, boiled or scrambled. Pure Protein Bars. Buffalo chicken with greek yogurt and a little bleu cheese dressing. Cottage cheese. String cheese. Refried Beans w/ qeuso mexican dip cheese, shredded colby monterry jack cheese, verde salsa, and greek yogurt. I am getting stuff to make bacon wrapped shrimp soon. Also will be making meatloaf and looking for an easy asian meatball recipe as we speak lol. On the meatloaf and meatballs I am going to freeze a lot for future meals in ziplock bags in small portions. Also I am at my sis's for 4th of July weekend. I have eaten Pork BBQ with white sauce, baked beans, brunswich stew, grilled hotdogs(no bun), etc. All in small amts of course. I can do well with just about any meat as long as it's not dry and i have a sauce or dip for it. I hated dry or overcooked meat pre-op too. I also make mini cheese cakes that I use 2 pkgs cream cheese, 3 eggs, vanilla, and artificial sweetner. My daughter loves these too, because she just had her wisdom teeth cut out. Here's a recent grocery list of mine, I posted in another thread: Eggs String Cheese Provolone cheese slices Swiss cheese slices Shredded cheese(colby-m jack) Cottage cheese Fage Greek yogurt Tuna Chicken(both frozen & canned) Meatballs Sams Choice Stuffed Chicken Brst Refried beans Queso cheese dip Ground chuck Ribeye Shrimp Bacon Taco mix Hidden valley ranch mix au jus sauce (for meatloaf, stews, etc) Cajun spices Pure Protein Bars Bacon Mini pepperoni Cubed Ham Cream cheese Stevia or truvia Peanut Butter Babybel cheese Laughing cow cheese Lipton Diet Green Tea Citrus
  5. I was sleeved on June 23rd. And eat about 3-4oz each meal. I have like half a yogurt for snack, or a hard boiled egg. I track everything i eat at myfitnesspal.com and seem to be under 700 calories everyday, and my carbs remail pretty low. My question is, i still seem to be hungy. I am on a PPI, and take it everyday. I read that the ghrelin hormone takes a few weeks / months to be out of your system. So im wondering will i have less hunger as i go along? Im afraid that if i still have this hunger, and our tummys stretch over time, i will eventually gain weight. Anyone ever go through this, and stopped feeling hungry at like 6 months post op or something ( please say yes!) thank you

    No Greek yogurt?

I was eating reduced/low sugar greek yogurt 2 days post-op from my sleeve.
  7. I weigh myself every day, because ignoring the scale when I was fat was a way of denying that I had a problem with food. However, I am pretty laid-back and don't obsess about the number. I'm in maintenance and as long as I'm under 140, all is good. Over that, out goes the yogurt and oatmeal and in come the hard-boiled eggs and protein shakes!

    Low carb not working

That's always a plus! If you want yogurt- try the Oikos Greek Triple zero. I use the Danon Light and Fit- post op bypass here And you don't need a whole container of you're eating with other things. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. residual anesthesia and general toll on the body from surgery. Plus caloric changes. This will pass. Make sure you have your Protein shakes/greek yogurt and Vitamins as soon as you are allowed

    Less and less food

When you say you can eat less, do you mean of the same food? Like you could eat a 5oz Greek yogurt and now you can only eat half? Or you could eat 2oz of chicken breast and now you can't? Is it consistently less or do you have hit and miss days? If it's pretty consistent and with the same foods I would bring it to your surgeons attention because there is a small chance you could have a structure (a narrowing from scar tissue basically). If somedays can eat more and some less or you can just eat less chicken than cottage cheese then yeah I would say it's pretty normal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I guess I was never really told how much protein to have in a day. I always choice my high protein meal first. Turkey, chicken, Greek yogurt, cheese. Eggs. I feel great, lose weight like I should. I just nervous I don't want to be malnutrition. Lol. I do three meals. One snack. I have started doing protein bar as well.

    Planning my Post-Op Pantry

Premier protein shakes: at least 18 of every flavor. Pre-op I only liked chocolate, post-op I couldn't phathom anything but vanilla. I'm 7.5 months out and still have a vanilla every morning. Vitamin Water Zero Orange Rise is the bomb. I bought 48 pre-op and I still drink these. If there is a whole foods near you they have "Bone Broth" and "Bone Stock" in both chicken and turkey flavors. They even have 8oz containers of it. And these "bone" broths have 9-14 g of protein for 8oz. You will get sick of sweet shakes so having something salty is a god send. Also Dannon Greek light and Fit Yogurt in Strawberry Cheesecake was also a god send and I was allowed to eat yogurt on my Drs version of "full liquids".

  14. Anybody else out there finding themselves real, I mean real hungry, very soon after eating? I will be 3 months out on 2/23, and for the past few weeks I find that I am starving, an hour or so after eating. I know most days my Breakfast is yogurt so it's expected, but today I ate scrambled egg for breakfast with tomatoes and Protein, and right now, I feel like I haven't ate all day! I wonder, and hope, it is my metabolism moving faster, but it is scary to think I can fit more food into my little stomach. Anyone else having the same "problem"? Thanks!

I'm Not Afraid Of The Surgery...

I'm on day 9 of the liquid pre op. Everyday is a little easier than the day before. I can't have any solid food at all.....no yogurt or cream of wheat for me. I am just so sick of the shakes!!! I will be so glad when this is over! I think after surgery it will be way easier being on the liquids. Of course I could be wrong.

    Soy Protein

I eat chicken, beef, and alot of greek yogurt. When I see that I am not going to make it to my protein goal for the day I will drink a protein shake. It is usually a whey protein (body fortress) shake. I have to force it down b/c I don't like the taste. So I heard that the soy protein shakes taste much better, but I know that some proteins are not good for us or should I say our bodies absorb some proteins better than others. And was wondering if soy protein was a good or bad choose. I hope this makes sense

    Describe after diet

I forgot to mention that I used Unjury unflavored protein powder quite a bit in the beginning months. I added it to yogurt, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. It is a good way to get in extra protein. It's not flavorless so I only used small quantities. If you go on their website, you can order samples so I recommend doing that so you can try a variety of powders. Also, I don't really get hungry but I have more of an empty feeling. I never feel voraciously hungry like I did before surgery, even when I was banded I would get very hungry. I am actually a bit emptier in the morning and like to drink 1/2 a protein shake in the morning on my way to work. This is very new to me, because when I was banded, I could never eat in the morning - so I'm enjoying eating a bit of protein in the morning! I also wanted to add that I really don't have very many cravings anymore. I was a big sweets eater before WLS and even after being banded, however, after plication my tastes have changed a bit. For example, when my children wanted cupcakes I bought them some Hostess cupcakes, which I used to love, and I took 1 bite of my daughter's cupcake and it tasted horrible!!! It just tasted fake and nasty - bleck! :/ not sure what happened there, but my tastes are definitely changing. I still like chocolate (a lot!) but hardly ever eat it. I bought some 100 calorie packs of cookies and will have 1/2 a pack of those every once in awhile. I think because I track my calories and my exercise that I am very aware of how much I have to wog (walk-jog) to compensate for "junk" food The only other thing I would add would be to make sure that you measure your food especially in the beginning. It is hard to eyeball 2-4 oz. of food especially when prior to WLS we probably tended to fill our plates with food. I also bought some smaller fancy plates and always ate off of those in the first couple months. I'd put 1/2 a stick of low fat string cheese and 2 thinly cut slices of turkey on a fancy plate and enjoy my food so much more!!! Good luck to you!
  18. The only powders that I have enjoyed or the Syntrax Sweets. Syntrax has a huge variety of flavors, ranging from chocolate, to fuzzy navel and even an ice tea w/lemon flavor. I order mine from Amazon as it is just easier that way. I blend my in a little nutri-bullet with ice, unsweetened almond milk, a pump or two of SF Torani syrup and plain greek yogurt. It ends up feeling more like a treat and less like a requirement.

    Chocolate cravings

I'm writing this while munching on a Dove dark chocolate heart to satisfy my sweet tooth. I'm 18 months post-op. It's that time of the month when chocolate feels like a biological need, haha. For me the cravings for sweets never went away, but I did find satisfying substitutions that I believe actually aided my progress rather than derailed it. In the past whenever I'd feel deprived on a diet I'd eventually cave in and binge on the danishes or ice cream I yearned for, but by having very small, reasonable desserts and snacks that have stayed within the goals I set, I've kept myself contented. During the liquid phase post-op my favorite protein powder was the chocolate one from Unjury. I added in unsweetened cocoa from Trader Joe's for extra chocolatey goodness sometimes. I also like having it with PB2 and iced coffee, or Torani sugar free syrups. I invested in a Nutribullet before surgery, and have really made use of it. I really liked the protein shake recipes on The World According to Eggface's blog, too, and recommend checking them out if you haven't yet. She's got a really winsome attitude and a lot of fun recipes for all stages. When I could start eating solids again I looked for sweets that were lower in carbs and sugar. One of my favorite desserts are the chocolate covered banana bites (Doles makes them, but the brand I like best is at Sprouts grocery stores) because they only have around 15 carbs for a four piece serving, and are just enough to be satisfied but won't derail progress. Trader Joe's also has slim Belgian chocolate bars that are only 100 calories and low in carbs. Other favorites from Trader Joe's are their macrons (three for 15 carbs), lemon bars (I think they're 10 carbs each), and Belgian waffles (big, fluffy, yummy and only 13 carbs!). Chia pudding, Siggi's yogurt, and smoothies made with high protein yogurt and frozen berries are also sweet enough to be enjoyable while still healthy. The cocoa sounds yummy. My main suggestion is to use something like MyFitnessPal to track everything you eat during the weight loss phase so you are really aware of how everything adds up. That way you can make adjustments to be able to add in sweets while still staying on track.

    BitterSweet :) :(

Eat the carbs before working out as they are burned first before hitting muscle. Eat Proteins after workout. Supplement with Protein shake (130 calories and 23 grams protein) Protein Bars (low fat like Power Bars about 205 calories and 14 grams protein). Fat free cheese (25 calories and 5 grams protein) Fat Free Milk, 1cup (90 calories, 9 grams protein) Greek Yogurt (160 calories, 14 grams protein) Fat Free Cottage Cheese. 1/2 cup (80 calories, 13 grams protein) Mix up routine. DO NOT just do Zumba. Your body will adjust to workout, memory has muscle as well as brain. Incorporate some weight training, running, bicycling. Try a personal trainer for a few weeks help break up routine and give instruction on how to burn the fat, not the muscle.
  23. Call your nutritionist. She can tell you if you are actually getting any protein from the bean juice. She can also give you other ideas. Maybe you will be allowed to make a Greek yogurt smoothie diluted with fat free milk. Personally the nectar chocolate truffle saved me. I mixed with only 6 oz milk and one scoop. That is 30g protein. I had two per day and got my liquids in. That is all I could tolerate.

    This Stinks To No End!!

Sorry to hear that! I think there are a few organic brands of lactose free milk, maybe check some of those out. I think in general lactose intolerant people can still eat cheese and yogurt, but there are exceptions! I think that would be a good one for your dr, to avoid another vomiting episode. Good luck!

    "eating around the band"

I think if you eat yogurt, cottage cheese ect A LOT that could be eating around the band. Because its "easy" it goes down easy . to me eating around the band is Liquid proteins , " easy " foods that slide down . Foods that do not require work , and that can mean yogurts , protein shakes, BUT I think it depends if your "Abusing" Them or not for lack of a better word. My doc allows me my protein shake in the am and that is IT . Except after fills. He would not want me drinking them 2, 3 times a day . I guess it all depends on how you look at it ? Interprut it ?
