Calling seasoned sleevess - Im fre- c
capeciw replied to capeciw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just reread this and between your good point about it still being numb and the fact that I left half of one egg when not so long ago I would eat a three egg omelet, bacon, hash brown and 2 pieces toast and not always be done shows me I am crazy and doing fine. Lol. -
I would say no. If your going that long without eating then you are fine. I am three years banded and I still get hungry. I don't understand the concept that lap band patients have that they won't ever get hungry. Hunger no matter what weight loss surgery you have is the bodies natural response to needing food.

Had my 1st post band 'meal'
Platinum replied to sherilynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a patient of Dr. Ortiz and we are on the liquid stage for 3-5 days and then to full liquids and then to mushies over a three week period for all three stages (anything through a straw, NO CHEW). I get to have solids after three weeks, not six weeks. Dr. Ortiz wrote the book "Lapband for Life" and he has performed over 4000 lapband procedures. I trust what he has told me but I guess every doctor is different. I plan to eat after my 3 week post op diet. Good luck to you all! -
Diabetes...lower A1C post-op anyone?
Pescador replied to ginabee38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear once a diabetic always diabetic. No matter, I am off Metformin, my A1c went from 8 to 5, my husband has been diabetic 30 plus years, and he is off insulin at night, and his A1c is also great. In three years I have not called Rescue once for a 40 blood sugar with an unconscious husband. There is no fear like the fear every time I called Rescue. Thank you Mr. sleeve. -
Day 4 - Full Liquid And Full Tummy!
jennrus posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I got about three sips of protein drink down. And tried to eat a yogurt but only could eat a spoonfull in 20 mnts. Wow. This is going to be harder than I thought to get protein. Anyone else on this finding it hard? -
I am 2 months post op. I have lost 30 pounds. I eat what ever I want only in very small quantities. I log every bite I eat into myfittnesspal.com. I usually don't eat more than 700 calories a day. I usually walk at least one mile a day. I have no pains and no problems. Most everyday I eat three small meals, eat a very small snack and drink a Protein drink. I don't think I am losing as fast as most people but I am losing. My surgeon is amazing!! I didn't have a catheter, I didn't have drains of any kind no problems. I highly suggest not eating anything for 10 days preop, only drinks and Protein shakes. It makes your recovery so much easier. If you have questions I would love to help. T

Stall with weight gain. 5 weeks out
catwoman7 replied to ShotzySchultz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
look up "three week stall". Almost everyone gets it, and it's not *always* at exactly the three-week mark. Sometimes it's the second week, sometimes fourth or fifth. But always shortly after surgery. Mine lasted two weeks - weeks 2 and 3. Then I dropped like 6 or 8 lbs the fourth week. -

janicemscott posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery three weeks ago. Today is the first time I actually have to go to the bathroom and I've been trying for the past three hours and it has been the most painful experience of my life. I kind of experienced this twice after both of my children's births, but this time is far worse. Any advice on how to get through this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
gigim... I had my surgery on Oct 1st and am still having pain.. Some people take longer to heal the others.. my left side is still a little more swollen as well, but I am ure it will be for a while considering that is where three of the five incisions took place and where the biggest one is..I was told it could take up to 2 weeks to recover and feel some what normal but honestly it could take the full 6 weeks to recover... Dont give up hope yet.. You will feel better soon.. That is what keeps me going.. I am still taking pain meds, but only once max twice a day.. wish you well and be easy on yourself..

My surgery was three weeks ago today and I'm down 34 pounds. My surgeon says it's ok considering I was carrying a lot of excess water pre op due to other conditions. As long as your surgeon says it's cool rock it! You look amazing!!!

how to get the protein that is needed
NtvTxn replied to tawanna1975's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
For three years I've been starting and ending my day with a cup of Organic skim milk. That is an additional 18 grams of protein. -
Hidee-Hoo Everyone! Day Two Post-Op
BenisaMartim4 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm getting ready to go home from the hospital today. I am doing great. No surgical pain or problems to speak of. I logged three miles on the walking track in less than an hour this morning; for a grand total of 6 miles post-surgery. The only thing that has bothered me are esophageal spasms. This is monstrous pain. My doc said mine was worsened by some of the meds I have to take on a regular basis. He told me that it should ease up over the next couple of days (thank God!). I have GREAT restriction. I can barely even sip. My Nae-Nae is a very tight 32 French. I am very pleased, it will just take adjusting to. I have also received some nice gifts while here; an extra large mixed spring bouquet from my mother, a card and bouquet from the youth department of my church and last but absolutely not least, an exquisite SEVEN Diamonds set in white gold ring and a beautiful card from my sweet hubby :0) -
Hi gigim.... I was banded 9-22 so tommorow will be two weeks. I feel great. Don't rush yourself..in the past three days i have really started to feel back to normal. everyone is different but i bet in a few more days you will improve greatly!! Hang in there! Oh.. I couldn't stand the taste of the lortab so i only took it once and then tylenol managed my pain pretty good. Let us know how your doing in a couple days!!
-
Completely normal.actually it would be strange if you didn't stall at this point.you wereloaded with normal saline to keep you hydrated in the hospital.your swollen and retaining fluids inside still.i wouldnt weigh until a month post op for those reasons.when your stall breaks you may lose a pound a day for two weeks and stall again or lose three pounds stall a week later lose a couple more pounds.i never lost consistently or lost daily.

Sometimes my MIL makes me crazy, but I am still not sorry I allowed her to come live with us, and it's been almost 4 years. She is my DH's mother and doing this for her was the biggest thing I could ever do for HIM. I mean....that's HUGE - inviting another woman to live in your house with you. And he knows it. And he appreciates it. Moreover, I have three sons and I hope that someday, when I am old (older, I should say) and toxic, their wives will be somewhat nice to me. I am not a perfect MIL, but I try. When my oldest DS and his wife were young and poor and had a chronically sick baby, I drove her everyday for a month to the hospital to see him (Nick, my first grandchild). I bought his clothes and shoes for the first 4 years. And I took him regularly and had photos made, so she would have pictures of her baby. And when their second child was born, I left the hospital and went to the one hour photo place and had pictures of the newborn processed and overnight mailed them to her mother, out of state, because she couldn't be there to see her new grandson. Now my DS and DIL make lots of money and have tons of photos, but haven't given me one in over ten years. Not one. Not even a school picture. We were at her house last night and DDIL had boxes of photos out, for some reason, and I was looking thru them and dropped lots of hints ("Oh, I love this picture! I need this picture.") but she did not offer to give me a single one. But when she asked for the big studio photo of myself and DS, taken when he was a baby, I took it off my own wall and gave it to her. I console myself with the fact that she is the mother of boys, and someday she will know how it feels. Do unto the mother-in-law, girls, as you would have the daughter-in-law do unto you. It doesn't always work, but it's still the right thing to do.

What do you think is the most important factor when choosing a surgeon?
this sucks replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with Catfish about aftercare. Research shows that quality aftercare is necessary for successful bandsters. You also need to have a surgeon who respects you and your experiences and doesn't belittle or minimize your concerns. Since this is someone who you will continue to see for years, you'd better like him or her and their office staff. Since I've never had a fill done with floroscope, I cannot address that. My experience after almost three years is that I'm glad I chose the surgeon that I did! -
How much protein is everyone getting in stage 2?
kthorne119 replied to QweenNique's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My Dr. Put me on a protein exliur (sp) for three days. Then I went to liquid and protein shakes for the first week after that. I am not sure how much protein I am getting now. I need to track it. -
I don't have the same insurance but that is what my doc charges my insurance company ($295). I am at 10 months and I have had 5 fills and 1 unfill, I have not had a fill in three or four months and I don't see the need for one in the near future.

How much protein is everyone getting in stage 2?
QweenNique posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hello I just recently had surgery on April 9th and when my doc came in the next day he told me not to worry about the high Protein intake the nutritionist guidelines says or just focus on full liquid for three weeks. I know he knows I don't like Protein shakes or powders and don't want me to get burnt out but is anybody actually able to take in the 60+ grams a day? If so is it strictly through powder added into everything? -
Today was kind of a bummer day. Three days in a row and the scale hasn't moved. I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but I am a slave to the scale. It just seems that if I'm only drinking 700 calories or less a day that I should lose weight even if my body is in some sort of starvation mode. I am getting my protein. Usually I get right around 70grams of protein a day. I could drink more water. I guess I'll make that my goal for now. To get at least 48oz preferably 64oz of water a day. I think I strained something in my tummy yesterday. We were trying to load a couple of our steers up to go to the butcher and I yanked on this gate that was stuck in some mud a couple of times befor I realized it probably wasn't a good idea. Today I have pain on the center left side of my upper abdomen. I haven't taken any pain for it. I want to be able to feel exactly what's going on in case it gets worse and needs some kind of attention. I need to remember to take it easy. So needless to say I didn't ride my bike today. I think I'm gonna wait one more week or so. I had started riding really slow and only for 10 minutes at a time. Now I want to wait until this new pain goes away. Calories today: 645 but I'll probably have some broth befor bed. Take care all!

Any <Insert Apocalyptic Adjective here> Obese people getting/have the band?
blahblahblah replied to TheCapn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Both my husband and myself had over 150lbs to lose...we are now both at almost halfway. While not three hundred, I can totally relate to your post. I wish you much success...There is a thread for "super sized" bandsters...basically those starting with a BMI of over 50...you may want to check it out...it's on the support forum. Best of luck and keep us updated. Congrats on your banding! Rain -
Liquid diet..mission impossible?
Mrs.FullerRN replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course I knew..I just haven't had to think about it until now..staring at this box of shakes on my country and knowing that's all ill eat for three weeks...crazy -
I read that, too and talked with someone who had an inside bunny. He said the bunny did go pee in the box, but still sometimes would leave little dingleberries all over the house. Ick. So, I don't know if you can train them 100% or not. I took the babies to my son's school and the kids were just ALL OVER them! Three are spoken for so far for sure---I am sure the kids who want them have moms who are ready to kill me!
