Hey there, I'm 4 months out and I , too, have the bad habit of putting way too much on my plate, most of the time. My pics are not that great,as they're taken with my phone but..oh well. Most of the times I really don't eat more than 2.5 ounces of food, if that! But there are times when I can definitely eat more! Depends on what I eat too. Little info on me: weight before surgery 290 pounds. I am 5"10 . I'm 4 months out and I now weight around 220 pounds. This was the first and only time I tried eating fries. Since then I can't tolerate breads, pastas, rices, pataoes ..they fill me up right away and make me feel bloatey These are mainly my lunches over the last 4-6 weeks or so, that is everything I could find in my phone and tablet. Hope this helps . Sent from my iPad using VST

SAW THE DOCTOR Sept. 14,2006
Sandybells commented on Sandybells's blog entry in Sandybells's Journal
I was given a 0.4 fill today so it brings me up to 2.6 I believe. I am starving at 10:00 PM. Had the fill at 2 today. He said to try the level and if I am too tight come back in for an unfill and they would squeeze me in. He is so nice..! I have to come back Oct. 12 3:45. Also have a lab appt. Oct. 5 --8:30 am. Don't miss that one...Fasting is important! 159.1 lbs. Up one pound from last time. Oh crap! We have discovered beautiful biking trails in Crosby that are paved and run along a couple of lakes and we took a ride a couple weeks ago (6 miles we rode.) Also have loaded the basement with firewood for the coming months. Weekend is to be pretty cold for Sept. rainy too. -
Hello, wls comrades. Five years ago today, I entered Onederland after a VSG Dec. 2013. HW: 271. SW: 257.2. Lowest weight: 180.8 (1/23/17). I wanted to get to 175, but my face was getting so thin and I was looking older/wrinkled. My Onederland weight was "197.8" and I smiled so broadly!! Alas, today, I weigh 206...ten pounds heavier than that day, and 27 pounds above my lowest weight. Grrrrrr. I am bummed, as I'm having a hard time getting back under control. I'm mad at myself. Just saying. I'm considering having a re-do...a second VSG later this year...because I don't want to be in that fight again. I'll see how I do between now and July. Keep me in your thoughts/prayers. Although I had NO complications, was done outpatient and did great, I don't want another surgery, but more...I DON'T want to be in that fight again, nor be over 200 pounds. But I'm told that ghrelin returns after 5 years; I'm approaching 6 years, so...'Hello, Heartache... here we go again..." My thought is...if I have another VSG ~205 pounds; lose 50-60 pounds, get to ~140-150. Then if I regain 20 pounds after five years (when i'll be almost 70 y.o.), wth. :-) I won't worry about it then. lol. When I was at 180 pounds, I was a near-size 10, feeling real good, etc.I can 'finish out' around that weight. Just thinking. Any thoughts? I may try that old "Master Cleanse," if I can hang in there the first few days. I'm open to thoughts to get back on the food track. If I can do that and get over the hump, I may be able to lose again. Hmm.

Opinion of band to sleeve conversion
CowgirlJane replied to KaraColadarci's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I really struggled with the band - it was a long 10 years. I weighed 272 when I was banded, never got under 200 and eventually got to an all time high of 332 - all with the band. I have done alot better with the sleeve - more hunger reduction, no pain, no reflux, no food restrictions (after the initial 3-6 months). Maintenance is tough. really tough. but, i think that is true of all WLS I consider the sleeve to have helped me "save myself" from a slow death by disability and obesity. I feel 20 years younger with half my weight gone. -
My family knows about my surgery and I lost 10 lbs in a week, but I got real discouraged when the surgeon met with me and seemed utterly disinterested in my progress, and basically I gained the weight back in the last two weeks my surgery is two weeks away and my grandmother just made a comment aren't you supposed to be on a diet and my sister chimed in with no she is having a surgery that will do that for her. I am so miserable right now I am so sick of the judgement first it's because I am fat now it's because I am trying to use a tool to help me get healthy after years of failing at diets and people are judging me for that now. Merry Christmas and happy New Years hopefully next year will be better.

Pre-op diet. Need a buddie
shan0520 replied to Nikkah_Mineolalove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But was on a 10 day liquid only diet. I was a constang snacker before the liquid diet. If I can do it, believe me,you can do it. I send you all love and know exactly how you all feel!!! -
I just worked it for 10 days. I was ready to move on, and had gotten kind of bored with the first level.

I been stuck at my weight (-1/+1) for the past 2 weeks and I am starting to feel really tired of it. I started a 99 challenge and have exercised the last 15/15 days. I feel better about exercising more and my body feels stronger, but no weight has dropped. I've tried raising / lowering my calories and raising / lowering my Protein to carb ratio. I've been a lot hungrier than normal (I was eating 600-800 calories a day for awhile and now I feel like I need 1000 calories or more to be satisfied). I feel like I have no restriction and am constantly hungry. I moved up my appointment to next Thursday, so hopefully I will get my first fill then. (My surgery was Dec 19, but they said I was losing enough weight not to fill at my first appointment) This month I am only down 4-5lbs so far, when I'm used to 10-20lbs. And even though I've lost 36lbs not on person other than my mom and fiancee have said a word about it. Cheer me up!

How often do you go shopping for clothes that fit?
EmeraldCoastPhotog replied to jeremiahsmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't been banded yet either. That will happen December 10th. Ten years ago I successfully lost a bunch of weight and was down to size 14. Knowing someday I would get back into those clothes, I put the clothes in boxes. Thats where I plan to do my shopping for a while. Now of course, I don't know if my clothes will be SO out of date 10 years later but... I know I am sure looking forward to finding out! I have friends who have had gastric bypass and they tell me they shopped the Goodwill on their way down the weightloss slide. Then they just donated the clothes back to the Goodwill when they were done. I will definitely look there but I don't know how successful I will be since I am six feet tall. These are all good plans but I have a different lifestyle than I did ten years ago. Then I worked as a Network Engineer, now I am a Mom and have a Photography business. So if I need to look snappy for some particular reason, I'll just have to go purchase something. -
Scared about starting 'real' food
WannaBe1/2TheWoman replied to finallyready@51's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Carol, Tomorrow will be Day 10 for me and I will be able to start soft/mushy foods. I am not scared, but I know I will be very careful introducing new foods to my band. The foods my surgeon suggests for the soft foods stage are: cream of wheat, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, creamed soups, lowfat cheese, boiled & mashed potatoes, soft cooked pasta or noodles, sugar-free pudding, canned fruit, soft cooked veggies. I hope this is helpful. Don't be scared, just take it slow and enjoy! -
Thought some of you might find this interesting... 5 Ways Vitamin D Could Save Your Life 'GMA' Medical Contributor Marie Savard Explains the Best Ways to Get Vitamin D By RAQUEL HECKER Aug. 3, 2009 — Vitamin D is known as the sunshine vitamin, and it has a lot of sunny benefits, but most Americans aren't getting them because they aren't getting enough of it. Between 50 percent and 75 percent of Americans get suboptimal levels of vitamin D, according to a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. Now a committee at the Institute of Medicine is meeting to determine whether the recommended daily intake of vitamin D should be increased. ABC medical contributor Dr. Marie Savard came on "Good Morning America" today to offer five ways vitamin D can aid your health and tell you how to get more of it. Why People Are Vitamin D Deficient Nature gave us only one good source of vitamin D, and that is the sun. We are meant to absorb vitamin D from the sun through our skin. When we lived closer to the equator and worked outdoors, we were OK. But that is not the case today. And food is not a good source of vitamin D, not even fortified food. Five Ways Vitamin D Can Save Your Life Promotes Weight Loss - You need vitamin D to effectively lose weight. Your insulin works better, and vitamin D helps you lose belly fat. Diabetes is also related to low vitamin D levels. Reduces Risk of Death - Your overall mortality is reduced. Fewer Bone Fractures - Without vitamin D, Calcium can't be absorbed. But if you get enough vitamin D, it can help you avoid osteoporosis, bone fractures and falling, which is a cause of morbidity among the elderly. Reduces Risk of Heart Disease - Vitamin D improves blood flow by relaxing the blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. Helps Fight Cancer - Vitamin D improves the functioning of your immune system, and that helps fight cancer. Five Ways to Get Vitamin D 15 Minutes of Sun 3 Times Per Week - You can get 10-15 minutes of high-noon sun exposure in warmer climates a few times a week. In the South you can do this all year long; but in the North it will work only in the summer months. But this is unrealistic for those who already wear sunscreen all day, or have been warned to stay out of the sun by their doctors. Fatty Fish and Cod Liver Oil - If you are one of those people who have been warned to stay out of the sun, another good natural source of vitamin D is fatty fish. In food, vitamin D is naturally found in fatty fish like salmon and in cod liver oil. Fortified Dairy Products - You also can get vitamin D in fortified dairy products. But you need to be careful. There are only 100 units of vitamin D per cup, so kids and most adults would need at least four cups of dairy products per day. You could drink four glasses of milk a day, but most people choose not to. Multivitamin supplements - Most Multivitamins have a substantial amount of vitamin D. Vitamin D Supplements - I recommend 1000 to 2000 international units of vitamin D supplements every day. It's cheap, there are no side effects or down sides. Although D3 is considered more potent and longer lasting, both D2 and D3 are acceptable. Copyright © 2009 ABC News Internet Ventures

Im gonna lose my stomach?????
marfar7 replied to AngelaMoniq's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also a band to sleeve revision. When I got the band in 2009, that was a selling point - that it was reversible. But, as I started to lose weight, I wanted it to be permanent, not temporarily. Why would u want something temporarily? I thought the same thing. God put this organ in my body for a reason and would I regret losing most of it? Not yet. I'm 10 mths out and don't regret it for a second. 15% is all u really need. Good luck! -
It takes more saline but not necessarily more fills. For example, 2 ccs is 50 percent of 4 ccs while 5 ccs is 50 percent of 10 ccs. I had 1 cc in my 10-cc band at surgery and 3 ccs added with my first fill. Obviously, that's not what would happen with a 4-cc band! The fills for a 4-cc band will be in smaller increments but not necessarily smaller as a percentage of the capacity of the band. My doctor told me that all the bands are "low-pressure" bands. However, perhaps it's easier to tweak a 10-cc band. For example, 1 cc is 10 percent of a 10-cc band but 10 percent of a 4-cc band is .4 cc. I don't know how easy that is to measure!

One month banded anniversary today!
kagoscuba replied to kagoscuba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a fill on 10/15, but it hasn't "kicked-in" yet, as I am still on mushy food. My doc said not to expect any restriction until I start eating "real" food (this weekend). The 37 pounds is all post-op. I weighed 265, when they weighed me at discharge. That's pretty consistent with my weight for the last year or so. My wife, who sees me every day, has noticed quite a difference already. I can't wait to see the reaction of some people I haven't seen in awhile. -
It was posted in another thread, but I just wanted everyone to know that some of us will be chatting in the "chat" room of all places. We are meeting tonight at 10:15 central time. Hope to see ya there! Everyone welcome.

Elektralite- I am right there with you in the jumping through hoops.. I have my surgery scheduled for June 13th at this point. I called insurance and they said it was covered under my plan with nothing to hold me back. Well, met my dr (ok, already know him.....we sit on the sidelines each week at our girls' :soccer: game). He is an awesome individual and calmed my nerves very quickly. We scheduled my date - hoping to do it the week after school gets out.....before summer school starts. (this date works best for me because I do daycare and my summer census is lower then than during the school year). AND suprise suprise suprise....insurance slapped me with their conditions....First of all they complained that we didn't submitt the correct information. So, I did my psych eval and did my nutritional eval like they requested.....and re-submitted everything. (we are trying to ignore the 6 mo doctor supervised diet that they are requesting). We also got a letter from my regular doctor that says this is the only answer for me - she does not suggest any other diet or drug because of other health issues. I have been to one support group meeting -- we are required to attend atleast 6 meetings post op. The group was small and very interesting -There have only been @ 40 LB surgeries at my local hospital - great success stories and very good after care :nanahump: . I just talked to the bariatric nurse and she thinks if the insurance company can get off their lazy :tape: asses and reply within the next week or so .....my surgery is still a go on June 13th. (otherwise the schedule is now full through August) I am extremely excited but starting to feel the crunch....If I am approved, I need to start my 10-day liquid diet about June 1st. That really isn't that far away. I also need to inform my daycare families about time off/get my mom to come for a few days to help with my three children, go shopping and the list goes on and on. I just wish I knew what was happening. Good luck at your journey of hoop jumping - Tracy

Banded between 200lb - 210lb
JulieM. replied to nano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on June 10, 2009 and weighed 209 lbs. I now weigh on June 17, 206 lbs. -
Well i go to the doctor today. Another fill i would imagine. I am not loosing like i should(at least that is what i think) My weight this am on my scale (yeah totally naked and before i've eaten anything is 215.8) I am curious to see what their scale says. I have been really REALLY good. I have been tracking everything! i eat on my daily plate. I get 1174 calories a day and i have been going to the gym in the am after i drop katie off for her second bus. I do the treadmill for 20 min then the stair walker machine for another 10 min. Oh according to my daily plate if i do that i get about another 150 calories for the day. Sometimes i use it most of the time i do not. I think that this time i am going to make it. I think my head is in the right place now. Before it really was not. HOWEVER i do need more fills because it is my willpower keeping me going not at all my satisfied feeling in my tummy. So once i get that i really should be doing good. I have set a mini goal, i want to lose 15 lbs by the time i go to CA on Feb 14th. Then Sal and i are going into NYC on March 13 14?? I would like to be down another 10 by then so lets see. First goal i should be 200 and second goal i should be 190 ONEDERLAND as everyone would say. I post tomorrow to record my band fill.
