Thanks so much for all the great ideas! I had never seen baked eggs before. I love my eggs over easy, but w/no toast, potatoes, or rice to soak of the yolk, I didn't see how I'd make them work for me. Baking the eggs on a bed of spinach is a great idea. Also, I had forgotten that I can eat turkey bacon and really any of the b-fast meats that are made out of turkey, chicken, or soy. And, a crab omelette, rocotta, greek yogurt, etc... Mmmmmmmmmm!!! Thanks again!

Okay, I think that I have created my first Protein shake recipe, however, if this is ganked this from someone else and I just haven't seen it, I am sorry, but I think this is an original. And I shall name it Fruity Surprise!!! Here goes: Fruity Surprise 1 scoop of Vanilla Protein 4 oz. skim or 1% milk (you can use 8 oz because at 4 oz it is a little thick) 1 6oz thingy of vanilla yogurt (I used light fat free Yoplait) 2 individual packets of Splenda 1 packet of Crystal Light Fruit Punch (the little ones you put in a bottle of water) Blend and enjoy. I poured mine over ice and it was yummy!! san:thumbup: PS--If you try this recipe and you like it, let me know. If it made you gag....I don't want to know (I am sensitive:crying:)

could you eat and drink normal after bypass revision
kswin79 replied to bikerchick519's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had RNY bypass revision after lapband done in 2013 about 2 weeks ago and I am able to drink water without sipping also and I am on Presoft foods already per my doctor stating in paperwork if I felt ok to move to Presoft go forward so that consist of soups, unsweetened applesauce and Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and I have been fine I have appt today for my two week follow up but I had a very bad allergic reaction and I am on three meds to help me not get a ulcer and prednisone to help with the itchy, red breakout. It’s been only two days since I been on the prednisone but I can tell it’s working already still a little itchy but the rash is fading. I think it’s just us healing but the food part is weird bc I thought it would feel major restrictive like the band was but it’s not been so far hopefully our pouch is fine.. I’ll let you know what the doctor states today about us being able to drink n soups two weeks in a no restriction feeling yet? Thanks for sharing also I really can relate.😊 -
I had my third fill 3 weeks ago. At that time, I told the doc that I thought the weight loss was slow(only 7 lbs. in the last 6 weeks). I did feel some restriction, but not too much .He added .5 to the 6.5 I already had in the 10cc band. Now even after the 3 weeks, I am having one heck of a time eating most of the time. Two spoons of mashed potatoes and I am done.About 3 oz. of yogurt and I feel like I need to PB. It hurts occasionally when my vitamins go down. I have dropped 12 pounds now in 3 weeks, but it sure hasn't been a comfortable three weeks. I don't know what to even attempt to eat, because it hurts so soon after. Then there is other times when I can eat a pack of crackers with no problem, or a bowl of popcorn with no problem. IS THIS NORMAL????? Should I wait till I go back in three weeks. Will it get easier in a week or two. Should I go back to the doc before my next scheduled visit and get some removed. Let me know what you think. This is the first problem I've run into and I will admit it scares me a little.

Need help come to far to GIVE UP!
lark60 replied to stride for success 43's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am surprised your Nut recommends potatoes in your diet at this stage. Also the amount of food at a meal seems a lot. If I eat 1 egg, I am not able to eat anything else for that meal. I realize every surgeon and Nut have different recommendations. My surgeon encouraged me to stick to Protein shakes 3 times a day when I hit a stall. I have a Protein shake for breakfast every day, 1/2 cup of food (mainly protein with low starch veggies) for lunch, 1/4 cup cottage cheese/yogurt for a snack and another protein shake for evening meal. I add fruit to the AM shake 3 times a week. It takes me about an hour to drink the shake with fruit so I don't do this every day. I have avoided bread, Pasta, rice, Cereal, potatoes and corn since the surgery. I do not plan on adding these back into my diet until I hit my goal weight. -
what was your first pureed meal?
justabill replied to marmello's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ricotta cheese and pizza sauce heated in the microwave. Delicious. I also still enjoy Dannon light & fit greek yogurts. -
I have been cooking up a storm these last few weeks and stocking the freezer up with healthy meals. Both of my crockpots have been getting a workout! I have been getting some great recipes from emilybites.com and skinnytaste.com. Emily bites has a lot of recipes that you use a muffin tin to bake it in. Great for portion control. For breakfast, I either have a Protein shake or Special K protein cereal. I am made mini quiches in the mini muffin tins but I have been eating them for lunch with a cheese stick. Boca burgers are also a great option for lunch...or Greek yogurt. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

OKay here is the question. I know ice cream is a no no, I know yogurt, low fat is okay. Is frozen yogurt ok? I know Popsicles are, I know the calories and carbs are a little higher, but could this be a once a week treat? Help?

Since you are talking about yogurt ... I dislike it... The fresh in a cup version anyway. I will use it in recipes but straight just doesn't tickle my taste buds... No matter what the flavor. And I love it but stay away from the frozen kind because they are a slider food. So now i just am thinking...Is the nutritional value the same in fresh vs frozen?

Know of Foods that Stay In The Pouch a Long Time?
AirKuhl replied to slimmap's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In general, Protein sources do. Lots of great recipes and ideas in these food and cooking sub-forums. Aside form the obvious meat sources, I'll eat some cheese on crackers instead of just the cheese, I'll eat less because the crackers help me feel full for longer so I'll eat less overall. Greek yogurt is one of my go-to foods. I like grilled veggies as well, make sure you chew well. Try to stay away from the obvious foods that the band doesn't help you with, things that get very liquid once swallowed, even if not when first eaten. Ice cream, chocolate, candy, sugary drinks, high calorie liquids like smooth cream based Soups and so on. -
Do you think the stuck episode kicked off acid production? I would call and get input from your doctor. Maybe they can prescribe Omeprazale or something along those lines. Prilosec, etc. My husband had years of acid reflux (not banded) and he has to take a pill each day and he eats yogurt for Breakfast. Some people get relief from having the head of the bed a little higher with blocks (inch and a half or two?) so you're not laying flat. What triggered getting stuck -- a particular food or just eating too fast or not chewing well enough? Hope you feel better soon!

March 8th Sleever!
JNewman531 replied to BrittanysVSGjourney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i've had a lot of success with those 2.5 oz tuna and salmon pre-flavored packets, ground chicken with taco seasoning and some cheddar cheese, re-fried beans, egg salad, smoked salmon with capers and cream cheese, scrambled eggs and a fage yogurt for breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. it's a good enough variety and super tasty. glad you're feeling great! keep up the good work. -
I found for me that to keep my weight loss going I needed to cut out processed carbs. I still eat carbs, but they are primarily in the forms of vegetables and occasional fruit and only very rarely eat potatoes/crackers/etc maybe to around once per month. Typical day for me: Breakfast - 2 egg omelette with a little onions & green peppers tossed in and some low fat cheddar. Sometimes I will just have a cheesestick. Sometimes I am really tight in the morning and will just have a slimfast optima, but rarely. lunch - Tuna salad with a little low fat mayo & pickles and a small salad (maybe 1/2 cup tuna salad and 1/2 cups salad). Sometimes I will roll up a little turkey and cheese in a piece of lettuce and will have broccolli or something on the side. Sometimes I will have 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 1/2 piece of fruit. dinner - Salmon cooked with dill and non-stick cooking spray on the stove top with a salad near of chopped cucumber, dill and a little smashed garlic mixed into 1/4 cup of low fat yogurt. I could have a small chicken breast with steamed veggies. Sometimes I will make a small lean hamburger and eat it without the patty with a salad on the side. I stalled for about a month before I changed what I was eating. Before I changed I was eating mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc and I could not lose like this, eventhough my calories were down.

lap-band in college
AlienBandit replied to ohlalauren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
do u live in a dorm or can u cook for ur self? In College if u have a apartment style housing it can be really easy to cook for your self. If u have a meal plan then eating in the cafe can be a challenge. Look for yogurts and softer foods like Soups etc your first little while post op or pack Protein shakes etc that you can eat between classes. Since your surgery is on Wed and u dont go back til Mon you should be fine. If ur keeping it a secret just tell people you slipped on the ice ( if there is snow then) or hurt your self working out if anyone asks why ur taking it easy. The first couple of days can be sore but make sure u move around a lot. -
Start the day with ice water and lots during the day ALSO, Greek Yogurt seems to really get me going. I am like you in the subhuman logs, husband taped my name on the plunger.

My doctor had me 1 week liquids and 1 week mushy. On my mushy phase I had cream of wheat, greek yogurt smoothies, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, puree butternut squash, carrots and my favorite of all split pea soup.

Tuna, scrambled eggs, applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt are all good choices that aren't startch. I made sure not to eat more than a 1/4 c of startch at any meal.

Creamy Liquid Phase- How much/How often to eat?
Katy517 replied to LegalEagle2009's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 4/15/10 and am on this full liquid 'phase' for a full six weeks. I also wondered about how much I should be ingesting at any one sitting. So far I don't have any problems keeping liquids down. My nutritionist told me to just pace myself and try to take 30-45 minutes to consume my 'meals' so I do that with yogurt, protein drinks, soups, etc. -
Ugh, I've been noticing some extra hair coming out in the shower lately. I really don't like it! I really was under the impression that I was getting enough Protein. I usually have an egg with cheese and sometimes a sausage link. lunch is usually tuna, a greek yogurt, or some leftover protein from the night before and maybe a veggie or fruit. dinner is protein based, usually turkey, chicken, or beef. I can eat about 1 cup of food still. I don't typically do any Protein shakes during the day. Sometimes I'll have some low fat, sugar free ice cream for a snack later in the evening. Any thoughts? I've heard Nioxin shampoo works... any ideas on that or any other supplements I can take to stop this. I have really thick hair, and want to keep it that way!

Creamy Liquid Phase- How much/How often to eat?
LegalEagle2009 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 4/16/10. My surgeon has me on the 7 days per stage plan. So I just moved to the creamy liquids stage. While on the Clear Liquids, I drank a lot of Water and tea and some light fruit juices but I didn't eat much of the broth, Jello, or italian ices. So now that I am at the creamy liquid phase, I am not entirely sure exactly how much I should be eating or how frequently. My doc said I should only be able to eat 2 oz. at a time. I seem to be able to eat a bit more than that now. I'm just not sure how often I should be eating "per meal". For Example: My Yoplait yogurt is 6 oz (Fat Free Thick and Creamy Light). I previously wasn't a yogurt fan, but maybe the band diet is changing that. Do I sit here, eat a 1/3 of it. Wait a little bit, eat some more, wait, eat, wait....until I've eaten all 6 oz? Similarly with soups-- I take a can of Campbells Cream of X soup- put it in the processor with some water to further liquify it and to blend out any chunks. Do I take time to eat as much of a single serving as I can? Or do I eat my 2 oz. Put the rest away, and wait for my next "meal time"? -
Learning how to eat slowly!
della street replied to canes2015's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 10 weeks post-op bypass -- it does get easier, but for me at least, required full concentration on chewing. I've had to tell my husband to be aware that I need to chew-chew-chew because sometimes he'd ask me a question and when I didn't reply immediately, he'd ask again and again -- I now hold up my hand and point to my chewing-away-jawbone ) One time I ate a Greek yogurt too fast, and my pouch hurt, too. I knew I hadn't eaten anything 'bad' -- just too fast ( Not much help for you, sorry - but I do sympathize -
Had my surgery on 8-30-07 in Mexico
Liz1531 replied to Kim Lucchesi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have moved on from Phase I and have added creamy soups, liquid yogurt, and protein shakes. I felt to unhealthy to do all clear liquids. I am still breastfeeding my son and have notice a HUGE decrease in milk supply so I decided today that I must add on the protein shakes. My doc said okay to add the yogurt and soups on day 4 if I was doing really well on all clears. They said not to start my Atkins shakes (protein shakes) until day 7. I am going against there advice because I really feel this is what's best for my son right now. -
Clear liquid vs Full liquid diet!
4me4them replied to Melissayw816's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say follow your surgeon's plan...it seems like every surgeon has his/her own methods for the immediately before surgery pre-op diet. Mine has cottage cheese, yogurt and v8 juice but not oatmeal or grits. I don't think the preop is all about losing weight....it is about cleaning out the system, shrinking the liver and the stomach...or so I've been told -
Confused About Proper Restriction Level
pink dahlia replied to indyhandmade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i try to listen to my bodys wants and needs, as what works for one may not work for another. I 'm in the green zone, but finding my band tighter in the am ,so i able to eat less in the morning and more in the late afternoon and evening. if i want a snack 3 hrs after a lite lunch , i have one because my body is telling me to eat something, so i eat some healthy like yogurt, almonds or, today a morning glory muffin. (a bran muffin with chopped apple, banana, and sunflower seeds. ) try to be a little understanding of what your band is telling you, it may be a different than what someone else's band is telling them.
