  1. Hi everyone, I had my initial surgery 10 years ago. I lost 98 lbs and it brought my 5'6" frame to a svelte 156.00 lbs. I was looking and feeling great. Then I started to get sick and was passing out about 2 years post-op. I found out my lapband had slipped and I went in for a revision. Again 3 years later I had to have another revision. After that time I gained weight and leveled at 180 lbs. I didn't like the number but with exercise I looked okay and felt good, so I was okay with it. Push forward 4 years and I have gained another 25 lbs and now weight 205 lbs. I have tracked my food intake for one-full year and I average 1100 calories per day. So how in the heck can I now weigh 205 lbs? I went to the surgeon and was sent for a swallow test and was told my lapband had been tilted and was extremely tight and there was no reason to gain weight. I was documenting food right down to one tic tac. Last month I had a double hernia surgery and it was performed by a surgeon who also handles gastric weight loss surgeries (not my original surgeon). He stated that my port was located in a weird area, and not the norm, the port was disconnected from the band and therefore, was not working! Not what I was told by my original surgeon. This surgeon re-connected the band and stated, the band is not tilted, nor is it too tight since it was empty, and he can fill it in February. My question is this: I keep feeling bloated and I continue to gain weight, I am currently 209 lbs. I cannot locate anything online that states how many calories is normal for labband patients. I find diets up to 4 weeks post op but nothing for long term. Would I be okay with 1100 calories and making that up with 75-80 grams of Protein per day? Should I be doing less calories? Has anyone been successful with 21 day fix or some other program in addition to the lapband? I really need help I do not want to continue to climb the ladder of weight until I am adjusted. Thank you!

    I'm so upset, I'm a slow loser

Yeahhhh...I am approaching my 1 year mark and Im still at like 85 pounds lost. If you would have told me that I couldnt lose the 100 pounds I set out to lose in a YEAR I would have had a freakin heart attack. In fact when I had my consultation I asked how long it might take me to reach goal and they said "it takes some people 6 months, some people a year" and I said "A year??" and here I am a year later and NOT AT GOAL. I even revised my goal to 160 instead of 150 because I dont want to get too down. Im honestly just sick of this. I'm a size 10-12. Sometimes I think F--- it. Thats it. I'm done. But then I saw pics of myself at Christmas and I still feel like I have too much fat in my face and I want to lose my extra belly fat. Im so tired of the struggle. I'm tired of seeing other people lose so freakin fast. Im tired of people yelling at me for not being thrilled to lose 80 pounds. Thats LESS THAN 10 POUNDS A MONTH. ugh!! This surgery is not all it's cracked up to be. Its definitely not easy. By the way I do not eat junk food, dont eat deserts, i go to the gym, I eat protein. My body is ajust horrible and doesnt want to let go of fat. Thank you terrible genes.

    January 2020 Surgery Date

O wow lol yes Cigna is a great insurance. And they will also allow revisions or any other needs that we need to continue to be at a healthy weight!! It such a blessing to have an insurance that actually cares!!! I have my pre op Jan 8 and my surgery Jan 14. I am so excited. I only have 48hours of clear liquids before surgery. Obviously I also have a 8 hour no food restriction prior to the actual surgery. It is getting so close. I am so excited for this new journey but I am also so scared for surgery. Thankfully I am at the top rated center of excellence in the US and my surgeon deals with all the mess ups lol 😂 people fly from all over to come see him. So that really puts me at ease. He also does a numbing injection at all injection sites so the lain is very minimal so we are able to walk a round to avoid blood clotting etc.

    NYE 2019 surgery date twin?

Try to make sure to have your basics in liquids or chews (no gummies); calcium citrate, a good recommend multivitamin with iron like BariatricPals ( taste better), B12 1000mcg or 5000mcg fast dissolve sublingual, I also am going to be taking extra vitamin c for the first 2 months while healing as my immune system may get be weakened from the surgery. I would recommend you put back some money for possibly a different whey protein Isolate source due to your taste may change after surgery. Me personally just got a fresh tasting unflavored whey protein Isolate so I can make it taste the way I want it to. I will recommend Now Sports nutrition whey protein Isolate unflavored. Been using some from a 5lb container that has 81 servings in it for 2 weeks now. Ordered another one this time a 10lb bag that arrived today. If I missed anything or misspoke per say then other fine folks on here will help you. Good luck. My rny bypass is in about 6 hrs and 20 mins now. Tick tock, tick tock, tock........

    NYE 2019 surgery date twin?

Happy New Year to us! Im going in for band revision/gastric bypass tomorrow morning too . In La Jolla, CA *feeling pretty damn nervous.lol
  7. Hello, I had my bypass in August 2019 and everything was going great. However, about 2 months post op, I started experiencing some dizzy episodes where my limbs would go weak, my head start spinning and I would get either white bright spots or fully dark vision. I also noticed that it is particularly bad while I'm in the shower and I have actually collapsed a few times now. Has anybody else experienced this? Normally I lay on the floor and take deep breaths and it passes after 20 minutes but leaves me drowsy and delirious. I'm just waiting for results from my drs after I had a blood test and an ECG. The nurse told me that my heart rate was a little slow on the ECG. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I find the episodes very scary. Many thanks!
  8. I'm currently in a weird place. 6 years out from my gastric bypass, 33 weeks pregnant, and on a feeding (nj) tube because I have a peptic ulcer and stricture so bad that I cant even keep water down. This is my first time having a stricture diagnosis. From what I'm told it is one of the worst most of the doctors here have seen. They had to navigate a wire through the stricture first just so they could have a feeding tube get in to my intestine. Doctors are thinking a ballooning of the stricture wont work because there is a lot of scar tissue. Surgery/ revision was mentioned. Has anyone had a surgery to correct this issue before? What was the down time? I currently have to wait 3 weeks to have my baby, then schedule a surgery. I'm just trying to see what the road ahead will look like. I haven't eaten anything since Thanksgiving and am going a little crazy not even being able to keep water down orally.
  9. Yeah I just paid $900 to the doctor and 650 to the hospital although my copay is supposed to be 150. I am sure I'll get an anesthesia bill too. Yeah in and out same day. I had my gastric bypass in 2000 regained 100 lbs.
  10. I will be having my gastro bypass surgery and I'm excited and nervous at the same time I'm looking for support from people who have had it and to learn new meals when I'm able to eat them my name is Danny Sent from my moto e5 cruise using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I had a sleeve revision to mini gastric bypass. But it didn't fix my acid reflux and now I need a revision to full gastric bypass because the reflux can't be helped with medication. They say my esophageal sphincter is not closing.
  12. Hello everyone! I am almost five years past my gastric bypass surgery, but at this point, I have gained back almost half my weight (30 pounds). I'm feeling frustrated, as it seems like all of the problems that I had before surgery are all returning, most specifically, the inability to lose weight due to PCOS. I am getting ready to restart, as much of the weight gain is my own fault. What I'm wondering though is what have you guys done that has worked? Only interested in those who are as far out from the surgery as I am. Ultimate goal is to be able to trigger weight loss again. Not looking to lose 30 pounds, but would love to drop 10. Thank you all in advance!

    Questions!

I have another question lol. My insurance says that it covers: -charges for diagnostic services. -gastric or intestinal bypasses. -stomach stapling. So I contacted them, and the rep didn't know what specific surgeries are covered....So does anyone here understand this? What surgeries are covered? Thank you!
  15. He scheduled the surgery specifically so I would have the 6 week recovery period and knows I’m going overseas, he doesn’t have any concerns about me travelling it’s more me wondering about the comfort and being concerned as far as food goes and how I’ll manage that on the flight if I’m still on soft foods or even purées, I can’t remember where I was at 6 weeks in after my sleeve and not sure if bypass will be different.
  16. I was sleeved 3 years ago and lost in total about 30 kilos, however sleeve has stretched and am regaining weight all the time. Ive got a date booked in for the 7th April to go from sleeve to bypass. My question is how is the pain after this type of surgery? I’m also booked on a long haul flight (18hrs) exactly 6 weeks after. Has anyone done this? We are already booked and can not be upgraded to business class etc. on top of the costs of my surgery. How have people managed with food at this stage on the plane and will I still be on soft foods etc and do I have to be cautious of dumping? Any advice would be appreciated!

    Overstitch procedure

I have an ESG (not as a revision) and am very happy with the result. This is a copy and paste from my doctor's ESG FAQ https://bmiclinic.com.au/endoscopic-sleeve-gastroplasty-faq/ Can I have an ESG following a gastric balloon, gastric sleeve or gastric bypass? ESG following gastric balloon: Recent research has revealed that people who’ve had a gastric balloon do less well following ESG in terms of weight loss. For this reason, we do not recommend ESG to anyone who’s has previously had a gastric balloon. ESG following gastric sleeve: Endoscopic revision of a gastric sleeve is possible, however the weight loss that results is only approximately 10% of the baseline weight. There are likely more effective options which you can talk through with your Bariatric Specialist. ESG following gastric bypass: Endoscopic suturing is possible via a procedure called TORe, Transoral Outlet Revision.

  19. I am about to meet the surgeon that maybe I could possibly trust for my gastric bypass if I get approved. I go on January 8, 2021. I am very nervous n very excited. What kind of things should I ask him ? Any advice from anyone? I got a second job just working on Sundays at a hair salon as an assistant and it was only five hours and my back was in so much pain . I hid the pain but I had to take a half of pain pill to get through and I really need the extra money. I am really tired of feeling pain and helpless. I have back problems from a bus accident in 2005 and I need two new hips n 2new knees. I am only 47 and I am falling apart fast n not liking it. I feel like if I don’t get this surgery I will not be around for many more years. Any advice will be welcomed and appreciated. Thank you

  21. My wife has gastropareses and the surgeon who will be performing my RNY bypass has her medical records as of the 12/23. He thinks he might be able to get her approved for a RNY bypass. Just wondering if anyone else on here has had it performed for that reason and did it help? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

    December Surgeries!

I had bypass surgery on the 13th, it's gonna be three weeks now. My incisions are healing well, I feel dizzy sometimes when I get up, and I have only thrown up one day. I had no gas pain after surgery either.

  25. Not sure about food but, I used vitamin e oil after my sleeve with good results. This is what I plan to do since my recent revision once incisions are healed enough as well. The oil is pricey. I just get the bit e vitamins and cut one end of the gel capsule to apply. Much less expensive this way.
