    Frustrated!!!!!

Oh that'll do it. I can easily gain 3-4 pounds during PMS week. The good news is, it's gone within a week after.

    stomach "growlies"

Hi that's so funny! I'm 13 weeks out and my stomach growles like crazy. Im not sure what calms it down but this has been happening every since I came home from the hospital. I assuming it can be gas bubbles or something. I'm sorry I can't be of much help, just know you're not alone. Good luck!

    7 weeks post-op

From the album: Before and after

  5. Hi team I am just home from a brief pacific island holiday (scuba pics coming later!) and the holiday showed me an interesting thing about my eating. I am 3.5 months post op, and I gotta tell ya, it has been a dream run. Surgery, recovery, weight loss - all smooth and damned near effortless. I don’t really get hungry (a few days of that early but not since). I can eat pretty much most stuff I want, but have had a couple of dumping episodes from sugar and luckily I really don’t want it! I am on strictly three meals a day - I start with protein and am loving finding delicious protein treats - like the 6 thin slices of tuna carpaccio in the islands! Yum! Then I finish with greens, veggies, salad. Very happy, no serious temptations. I sort of miss my nemesis - potato crisps - but have discovered baked veggie crisps, and two or three beetroot crisps makes me crunch-satisfied on the odd occasion when I want crisps. So - off on this holiday, imagine my surprise to suddenly get real cravings. First - the airline club lounge - really wanted my old staple, chocolate coated shortbread with my coffee. Just noticed it and resisted. Then, had a hotel overnight before international flight - minibar yelled at me all bloody evening. Chocolate, crisps, chocolate almonds, cider, coke! And then, onto the flight, and the seat screen just kept shouting “Snack bar! Ooh, pringles. M&Ms. Do it, do it”. 3 hours of resisting - had a beerstick lunch - low carb, good protein... Anyway, I was just surprised at the “location” triggers for those old eating habits. Resisting was ok, but I realised that I will need willpower on an ongoing basis - I had sorta assumed I was in a more secure place re food temptations. The only answer, obviously: very very regular pacific island scuba diving holidays...
  6. I was banded on Jan. 11th and I'm wondering how everyone else is doing. I have had one fill since surgery and had to have half of it taken out because it was too much. I have an appt. for June 1st for another fill. I'm bummed because I seem to be at a plateau since my fill. I do water aerobics 5 days a week and have added strength training 2 days a week and still nothing happening on the scale. Other than a tiny piece of birthday cake and some potato salad on Easter I have been doing high protein low carb. I can eat more than I did when I was first banded but I have not been eating huge amounts or anything like that. I stopped the protein shakes for a week and it didn't make a difference so I added them back in as they are my breakfast before going to the Y. I've decided to try doing the liquid diet for a week to see if that helps. If anyone has any advice or ideas PLEASE pass them on to me.

    Hematologist?

i forgot to ask. She did tell me that on my first eval my surgeon might have not said it to me but she mentioned it to her and that was weeks ago. I just assumed it was part of the testing but hematologist are experts if you have problems. I hadn't even got my blood tests then so I'm not sure
  8. I'm 8 weeks out my diabetes isn't going away!!!! Does anyone know why??'n

    Surgery cancelled

I feel your pain. Last year I was a week into my pre-op diet a week away from surgery when a storm came through and did a bunch of damage to our house. I was self pay at the time so I had to back out so we could afford the repairs. Then when I thought I was back on track and ready to schedule my consult, my Mom was diagnosed with cancer and needed financial help. She's on track with chemo and finances, so now I'm waiting for the 13th of October through insurance. You'll get there soon enough! Hope you feel better here soon. Good luck with your surgery.

    Slow weight loss

AWE hang in there I think it varies so much person to person we can't fit ourselves into a mold about it all. I've lost about 55-60 for the last three weeks i go from 315 to 310 randomly I weight myself daily its annoying. BUT my close are all falling and loose fitting and I see the inches and changes to my actual body. I'm shrinking in places I did not know would or could shrink lol Hang in there don't let it define you and try to walk more if you can. I know I'm working a bit more everyday for more steps I wear a step tracker and I've gone from average 400 before surgery to average of 1200 a day and some days over 2000 I do a lot more for myself now so it adds up quickly.

    Getting Out Of Bed.

I laid flat on my back for the first week. Then was able to lay on my right side with pillows supporting my tummy. The left side took a few more days. The trick is to really tuck that pillow under your belly so your belly is supported and gravity doesn't pull on it.

    Getting Out Of Bed.

That's exactly what I did. I learned after 3 csections how to get up without too many tummy muscles. I roll onto my side then put my legs down the push my torso up with my arms. I still do it 4 weeks out just to be on thhe safe side. I'm not looking for more pain lol!

    Newbie with 3 kids

The first week is hard, but then it gets easier everyday. The pre-op diet may be challenging as well. You aren't suddenly going to lose so much weight that you look different. It will be over a few weeks and months. You won't want to pick up your children, since that could rip your stitches. Maybe talk to them about that ahead of time. Let them know that you have to go see the doctor and when you come home you will have to rest a lot. Kids can often rise to the occasion. It may be useful to have some help for the first week or 2.

    Omg its time!

I found what helps me is stocking up on sugar free popsicles. It's somthing that I can chew on. I'll be honest, I did cheat some the first 2 days, but by day 3 I was able to stick to it. Luckily I only have one week of it. Just take it one day at a time and you'll do great!
  16. surgery date: 11/18/2016 weight: 243.6 current weight: 195.4 losing my hair like crazy and i can't really drink water , it makes me very very hungry [emoji853]
  17. You can do this!! I am almost 18 months out and started to eat candy around Easter. I have gone back to tracking my food, keeping track of my liquids, and Protein, etc. I had female surgery 3 weeks ago, so have can't do a lot of exercise. I have been tracking for several weeks, tracked the candy even, and now am back to a pound below my lowest weight. I started at 225.5, goal weight was hit in December, and am now at 121.8. I weigh every day and really clamp down on my habits when I get near 125.00. You might also talk to your nutritionist as it helped me with how to add some good carbs and not lose muscle mass. We are hear for you. There is a veteran's thread on this site that you might want to check out too. Carol

    Surgery Tomorrow

Good luck to all of you ! Tmf said it best "6 months from now you'll love the step you are taking." Oh, how true ! I was banded 6 months ago , and while my surgery and recovery was soooooo easy, the best part is im down 45 lbs !! Down from 225 to 180 ! Im beyond happy ! I just followed my Drs rules 95 % of the time (healthy food, small bites, chew well, and exercise 3x a week minimum ) and the weight has slowly come off. You can do it ! Let us know how it goes, good luck !!!
  20. I'd ask your physical therapist or surgeon. each program seems to be slightly different, but I see a lot of people starting to do more strenuous exercises at the 4-6 week mark.
