    Frustrating!!!

Most restaurants have chicken, fish , veggies and baked potatoes. Even if it's not on the menus ask your server. I do it all the time. When the meal comes I ask for a second plate and cut 3oz of my meat, half of a baked potato and remove it from my plate.... Then I enjoy my meal. I ate out once or twice a week during the past 2 years... It can be done but you need to stay away from the bread.good luck

    Slippery Slope?

I have a sister that went from one extreme to another. She was over 400lbs when she started and lost over 200lbs in less then a year. She is over 6ft tall and she got so obsessed with food and weight that once she hit goal weight she still wouldn't eat and began starving herself and this lead her to be put in the hospital and her organs started shutting down. They fed her intravenous for weeks and she had to take a lot of vitamins and drink protein. You need to speak to a nutritionist and find out how many calories you need for your body to function correctly

    Tummy tuck

I am interested in hearing replies also. I have a consultation with a local plastic surgeon next week. I have gone to my general doctor several times to document rashes to help prove my case. I will let you know what I find out too

    Slippery Slope?

I think it's only natural to feel this way. Awareness of yourself is very important. You have done an amazing job in 9 weeks by losing 47 lbs. I think I feel the exact same way because deciding to get the lap band was such a big decision to make that I'm very concerned with success because I felt like this was the last option I had. I too find myself being over cautious about what I consume, and I'm only one week post op, but mostly it's because I want to succeed. Don't become overly worried about this, be aware of yourself, and continue on your journey. Thanks for sharing.

    Frustrated

I have been going back and forth about WLS for 5 years and I finally decided to go ahead with everything. I have had all tests and medical appointments and my information was submitted on February 8th, well fast forward two weeks and I still have no answer. I called the insurance company on Monday to discover they had no record of receiving the information, so I got in contact with my coordinator and information was finally received on the 18th so now I start to wait again. I feel drained, its sucking all the life out of me waiting for an answer. I want to get prepared for WLS but I can't get excited until I hear that I am APPROVED. I'm praying that everything goes smoothly from here on out. I have a surgery date and I 'm ready to tell them when I'll be taking off work. Come one Highmark BCBS!!! Okay DONE VENTING...

    I tried some protien powder..

Yeah, your body has to get adjusted to your new eating habits... When you start taking Protein it usually takes your body a week or two to actually adjust. Once it does you will start feeling more energetic and less fatigue. Plus if you are waking up in the more starving, it is a great thing because you are suppose to fast through out the night. Once you eat Breakfast you should feel extremely refueled.

    Got sleeved Tuesday

You are now at the worst part of your journey, but I promise you each day you will feel better. By my 3rd week I felt completely normally. Just do as Dr and Nut have instructed and all will fall into place.. You will do great!

    I was a bad girl

The only thing bad about you is your penchant for exaggeration. You gave two forks of cake a rating of three bads. No way. Two bads and not a penny more. Keep it up, Chickadee, and you'll have to sit out the next three scene parties.

    Dermabond

I'm a week post op and my dermabond (glue) is peeling of my incisions. Is this alright? They didn't say when it should come off when I was at my appointment Tuesday. I don't go back until May 4 to get a fill. Has anyone else had dermabond? When did it come off?

    VENT MOMENT

Oh Lord have mercy. What a huge emotional state you must be in, so sorry. I am glad you came on here to ask for support. Can you lean on a close family member? Or a minister? My first granddaughter, Alexis died at 18mos at the babysitter's. Funeral was the coldest iciest day in February and the blackest day of my life. Then 5 months later there was a murder-suicide in my family. I was shaken to my core and had to talk to my priest several times as I could not reconcile the anger and disbelief - it was my brother and his illicit girlfriend, they were both married. He had three grown daughters and she had two little girls that were left motherless. I cried and prayed and cried and prayed, it was not the brother that I had known. That was 20 years ago and I still have no answers to it. Turning to food will not really provide any fix for your anger and grief, as soon as the food is consumed it will be there just as big as before. There is no going back. Don't be too strong, go ahead and feel the grief. I wish I could hug you right now.
  12. Congratulations on being so persistent and dedicated to your new journey! I just turned 60 and a few weeks before my birthday I got the sleeve. I chose it because it's less invasive, even though my starting weight was 361, which is pretty high on the spectrum, 5 months out now and I'm two pounds away from my 100-pound mark. Just keep asking questions and choose whichever surgery you feel comfortable with. I'm so glad I chose the sleeve but agree with one of the posters who mentioned something about problems with heartburn, which started in my sixth week, but has really gotten so much better. My doctor has me on famotidine which is less problematic for the future. I only take it when I really need it. Good luck! Sent from my LG-H740 using the BariatricPal App
  13. I am 5 weeks post op and on soft foods.....thank god. Anyways, I am freaking hungry. I try my hardest not to snack in between meals because I know that is not good. But if I eat at 11 i am hungry by 230-3. And I don't know what to do. I have contacted my hospital staff since they told me anytime I need help to call them but I had to leave a message. Right now I am ok with still being hungry, like some people say that the hunger leaves them but I'm ok having the normal hunger but this wanting to eat every 4-5 hours is not cool. Any ideas on what I can do to help that? Oh I am taking ant-acids

    I was a bad girl

It was REALLY REALLY good cake! The next scene party is a five-day camping trip, which I will miss because I will be in Florida for my birthday. That should count for three regular parties. (nods wisely)

    Abdominal pain 2 weeks out?

In response to TripletsMom, Yes, I had that until about 3 weeks out. One of the reasons I could not sleep laying down until that all stopped. If I tried I felt nothing but burning, tugging, and some pain around the incision sites. I'd say give it another week and they'll probably be better.
  17. I'm six weeks out today, been back at work for four weeks. I get in all my Protein and fluids and about 500 calories a day, give or take. The last two or three weeks I feel like I have never been so tired in my life. I get home from work, eat and go to sleep. I nap on the weekends and have no energy to do anything. I will bring it up at my next dr appt on 9/13 but when did you start to get some energy? I'm more lazy now than I was before the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Side view Oct09

haha thank you! I'm still not confident enough with my legs... I go to the YMCA almost 5 days a week depending on my daughters schedule... I'm starting to get alot of saggy skin in my lower stomach and arms... of course the chest too! But that is all fixable as my husband tells me I traded one addiction for another I love to run now and if I don't I fill like I'm letting myself down... I NEVER ran before and I can only run for 30mins at a time but it will progress... I also do weights because I want to minimize the skin if I can... Your doing great also!
  20. Hello Everyone- I just found this site yesterday, and it so fun and informative. Still trying to learn how to navigate it. I went for my follow up Dr. Visit today lost 10-lbs. That was shocking, but I am still on the liquid stage or should I say THE HARDEST PART STAGE (for me). They said I can start having creamier substances (soup) just looking for something different. Any, suggestions?? I am still pretty sore around my port, and still pretty gassy not sure how to relief that besides walking around and Gas-X it can really be painful. Need all the help and suggestions that you can give me. Thanks So Much for your time God Bless You All Teresa

    Strong & Lean

    From the album: PROGRESS PICTURES

A few changes that I've made for the month of sept 1. Enroll with Gaglione Strength- Strength training 3 times a week. I have a Fab Am coach who pushes me to the MAX! Like seriously, I don't get away with **** lmao...Eyes are always on me and he provides me with a lot of positive feedback. Lifting weights will not make u bulky, u will get toned and have a nice ass if u squat 2. Learning how to say "No" to unhealthy foods. Everytime u say no, u have the potential to lose weight. Every food choice we make brings us closer to, or further away from our goals! Remember you want to be sexy, strong, & lean! :-D 3. Focus on protein & clean eating. I know some people prob think I'm nuts or something with my protein/food post but if you focus on ur protein intake (60-80 a day) you will lose weight. It's better than focusing on carbs :-)
  22. Hey April. I'm Lisa. Also having surgery Nov 9th - in NYC. Started my 2-week liquid diet today. For Breakfast, I had 1c almond milk, 15 ice cubes, 2TBSP PB2 powder, 1/2 banana and 1 packet of unjury chocolate Protein powder -- blended into a smoothie. I've actually been having these daily for about 5 weeks now. My pre-surgery diet is full liquids - I know some others get to have a light meal on theirs. I made a worksheet last night with my day's dietary plan (2 Unjury shakes, 1 Premier Protein shake, a yogurt and sugar free Jello for snacks). A written plan works best for me so it's all ironed out before my day starts. Just need to remind myself to drink Water. Never been a big water drinker, but I'll learn. Good luck!!
  23. Omg, the office was SO GREAT!! The staff already feel like family, they are so warm and friendly and want to be sure I understand everything that's going to happen. The nurse I spent the most time talking to will get right on my insurance, but she says they don't require any strange pre-op hoop jumping. Once she gets the okay, everything will start rolling along. She says the biggest delay will be insurance, but that I could feasibly be looking at getting in within 4-6 weeks! Once I get the okay I will do the sleep test, blood work, etc. But OMG, I was reading all these stories and thought it may not be until after the first of the year! Cross fingers for me that it rolls on through! :tt1:
