Just had my Sleeve surgery today, got there at 7:10 am and was on the way home 11.30. I did not or have not had any nausea at all. my chest hurts, the walking every hour is tough , because i want to sleep. nothing to eat for two full days now, will try a protein shakes tomorrow, they wanted me to do liquids today. doing OK, but on the way home noticed all the fast food restaurants. and when i got home, everyone was eating in front of me, and there were some nice looking muffins on the table. I'm working on not letting that bother me, but I'm still not hungry , time to take some drugs and get some sleep.

Hey sorry, hehe. I've been back since Thursday, but I wanted to wait until I had more good pics online. I'll attach a link to this one though: http://joygraffix.com/joygraffix/wedding/sarah2.jpg I'll update with more pics as I get them online. Everything went really, really well. I was afraid of some family feud issues, but my family handled themselves well also. After the wedding, we went to Hawaii for 10 days for our honeymoon, which was also very nice. We went scuba diving with Manta Rays, and then spent a good amount of time just relaxing and unwinding. I will admit, I'm glad the wedding is over. I've never been so stressed, lol. Other than that, since hubby (hehe) and I have been living together for some time now, everything is just business as usual, with the exception of me needing to get my name change done (waiting for the marriage license).

Hi Melbear, I'm being banded in Sydney on 6th October so you and I will be on the journey together. As to whether you should be banded or not - I really wish that I had been done 10 years ago - I've struggled with weight all through my 40's including extreme dieting on Duramine and low carb diets with B12 injections thrown in. I stayed the same for 3 years then as soon as I was off the pills the weight piled back on plus more - the usual story. You will be fine - you've got the support of others in the same boat who share a lot of your problems. I'm gunning for you. Best of luck. talk soon. Hi Tizen33, You're the first person to have said that you are afraid of becoming more attractive - it's something that I have grappled with too. It's much easier being fat. You don't have to wonder whether the looks you get are because someone likes you - you know they're just thinking you're fat! Weird isn't it. I take on a whole new persona when I'm thin and frankly it makes me feel vulnerable - it also makes me feel dangerous! I'm looking forward to the journey. bye for now.

Hey melbear, I sort of blame my cheating ex-husband for my weight problem too but deep down in i know who is to blame. I have to admit I gained more weight after I got with my current boyfriend. We have been together 13 years and are getting married this May. I think I have been testing him with my weigh gain. Waiting to see if he'll call me names or cheat on me because I'm not who he thinks I should be. He has done none of those things and he's 10 times better looking and nicer than my ex! I am really one lucky girl so I want to get heathy and skinnier to thank him. I can't wait to start life over with him as my husband. I am 49 years old, I lost my brother when he was 48 to a heart condition caused by his health. I now live every day for both of us and I know he is looking down on me and wants only my happiness. I don't have a lot of health issues now, just bad knees and snoring but I don't want any more either. Hang in there, there is a good person out there for you and everyone else who has written to you. Just remember to except it when he says you are beautiful the way you are, don't punish him for your ex's problems. Don't waste time, make more love!!!!

Ahhh! I'm Banded Tomorrow!!
MoniqueD replied to DebbieZig's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello and lots of luck and prayers to both of you! I am new here and have a scheduled surgery banding date of 10/14/09. I am extremely nervous. I will try to check in regularly with you. Get some rest!!! Hugs~ -
My 10-year old daughter does the same sort of stuff. A few times now, she's brought her leftovers in from the car (an accomplishment in itself) and then left it on the counter - right beside the refrigerator! C'mon! The BF does the same stuff. 1/2 full cups on the dresser, in the bathroom, clothes on the floor beside the hamper. Is effort just not in their vocabulary?

Vsg Doll posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still Pre-Op but this is a list of the items I am planning to take with me to the Hospital. 1. Insurance card and I.D 2. Cell Phone/Charger/Phone Cards 3. Toothbrush/Toothpaste 4.Deodorant 5.Lotion 6.Lip-gloss (non petroleum based, its flammable and if you are on oxygen its not a good idea) 7.Brush/Comb 8.Hair Clips/ rubber band/headscarf 9.Nightgown (may be difficult with Iv's)/Loose Clothing 10.Slippers 11.Robe 12. Notebook (if you document through journaling) 13.Pillow/Neck Pillow 14.Pads/Tampons (most women get their period right after surgery) 15.Baby Wipes (to help freshen up) 16.Gas-x Thin Strips/Baby Mylecon drops (ask your doctor) 17.Sleep Mask/Earplugs 18.Oasis Dry Mouth Spray 19.Sugar free sweetener/Caffeine Free Tea Bags 20.Small Extension Cord seems like alot but it will probably fit into a regular sized back pack. Hope this helps anyone that is preop!!! -
What am I doing wrong...
pnw218 replied to Katrina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh! LOL I was shocked to have lost about 10 pounds in the first 5 days post-op. Since then I have averaged about 2 pounds a week. Definitely slower than someone who starts with a higher BMI but probably pretty average for someone who started where I did. It is frustrating at times. I wouldn't panic yet : ) Adjust your calories for a couple of days, then your carbs, then go back to the basic plan. Seems to shake up the body again. I weigh every day, 99% of the time. I won't weigh on any other scale except my own - other than my dr of course : ) Sometimes I am down, then up a little, then down and down again. So long as it is going in an overall downward mode, I am good : ) Hang in there! It will happen : ) -
I just got back from my 10 weeks post op appointment with my Nutritionist, and some things shocked me, like the fact she allows me to eat pasta (with no cheese and veggies but it's still pasta) and RICE. The rice part is the one that confuses me the most because I read a lot of you talking about how we shouldn't eat rice anymore after the by-pass. Of course I follow my nut's diet and so far it's been working great (I lost 31 kg between my pre-op and post-op diet in less than 6 months) so I trust her but why isn't there like a universal RNY diet? Why is everyone's so different?

Going to Mexico!? Ahhhh
srs82781 replied to mlecompte's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was in the same situation, having to ask my dad for the money and also telling him I was going to Mexico. I did the money thing first, lol! I was fully prepared with the info, website for the hospital facility, dr credentials, coordinator website, YouTube videos of patients and the doctors. Also it was helpful that I had a friend traveling with me that was reassuring to him. Since I chose Tijuana, it was a 10 min trip back into the states. Good luck! -
21 And 27 Lb Loss From Two December Bandsters!
DE121911 replied to mdlapband's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrat... I was banded the 12/29 and lost 35 on the 10 day liquid leading up to it. I worked out everyday and it obviously helped a bunch. Keep up the great work. -
I am in the process of doing the six month monitored diet, and I just came from a weigh-in, and I lost 2 pounds. Firstly, when I was told by the nurse that I had lost, I was so happy, but then the doctor came in, and she was very displeased that I had only lost 2 pound, and she was very clear that she wanted me to start losing 10 pounds a month on this diet. I think she might stop my monitored diet, if I don't lose 10 pounds a month. My question is: is there any of you who have had a doctor stop your monitored diet, and if so, why?

January 2011 sleevers--How are you doing now?
kaycol replied to Foxbins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello all, My surgery date was January 6, and I am down 53 lbs. I can fit into some size 8 pants, but mostly 10s, and I am wearing a SMALL top! That makes me so happy. I still can't believe this is where I am. The weight loss has definitely slowed down but it is still coming off and that's what counts! Like someone else mentioned, I think it is interesting that we are all basically at the same amount lost after 5 months. -
22 lbs.....in less than 2 weeks, I am loving my sleeve!

Oatmeal and fiber question
stcyt replied to JillianMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started oatmeal at day 10. five days clear.... five days full... then I started oatmeal on my first day of mushies. mmmmmm it really hit the spot and make me feel satisfied and nourished like I hadnt felt in days. I get unprocessed oats... the kind that take 5 mins to cook because they are less processed. I cooked them for about 10 minutes in extra water so they were really mushy. mmmmmmm enjoy!!!!!! -
my surgery date was 10/16. Some of the things I have ate are : refried beans (thinned down with beef stock and a little grated cheese), tomato soup, greep pea soup, chili.. just eat slow and chew well on the chili.. i have lost 2o lbs post op.

Help!! Cant find low carb mushy foods
terril replied to hazeleyedstef's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seems like every Dr has their own protocol. I was banded on 11/16/10 and I am currently on mushies. I have been eating low fat small curd cottage cheese, fat free yogurt, instant mash potatoes, Soup, eggs….plus Protein shakes and I have been feeling great and losing weight! Maybe check with the nutritionist and ask for specific examples of products >5 carbs. My nutritionist never mentioned that restriction. I was just told to keep I low fat/low cal, make sure sugar is listed as one of the first 3 ingredients on the nutrition label and the other standard list of “no-no’s” Good luck with your surgery!! -
Has anyone else experienced this
HippyChick73 replied to HippyChick73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not nerves for me - if it'is thought I will be a size 00 as my surgery isn't till August I'm combining it with a 10 day trip to San Deigo and then 6 days in Tijuana for surgery as I've never been to the states before I thought I was going crazy but I'm literally not hungry at all which is so so unlike me -
How much have you lost?

What was the final straw to decide this?
Adrianabelle replied to limichelle34's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had started the WLS program a few years ago and got vasculitis. The drugs they had to give me wouldn't be good with surgery in general let alone WLS. After the vasculitis went into remission I got pregnant. For 8 months I had the cutest little squirmy squishing my stomach and as far as eating goes it was heaven. I actually lost weight during my pregnancy. A month after she was born I got down to 209 (smallest I've been in over 10 years) and I tasted onderland. Then the bottomless pit of breastfeeding kicked in and my weight skyrocketed and I ballooned. I'm done breastfeeding now. I saw my doctor about a weight loss pill and she said there was no point, I'd just gain it back and said I should get the surgery. I looked at my kids and that was that.
