    All of my December sleevers...

Sleeved 12/17, and was a lap band revision. Down from 261.5 to 220. Bought a pair of size 18 pants today! First new clothes, but my best friend threatened to rip my baggy butt pants off me in public. Was a nice fight to have! Does anyone else get shaky after their first calories of the day? It's like my heart is pounding really hard. No gas or diarrhea, just the shakes. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat first (tuna, protein shake, cream of wheat, etc.). Any advice?

    OCTOBER 2014

So I'm about to be told a whiner so bear with me. I have hit another intermission has been a week since I've lost anything besides the 4 pounds I lost briefly after my last intermission. Ugh. It seems like I might be one of the slow revision losers that has been mentioned before. Plus it seems that eating At work will become a chore. We only ever get 30 minutes to eat at a time. I may have to ask my boss if I can take an extra 10 to really focus on eating.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Dang tap! That's probably the longest post Ive seen in awhile! Awesome!! So nice to see you're back, i've missed ya! Been quiet since you were gone. :frown: Girl the 5 lbs. is actually not bad. I can do that in one single "bad" weekend. You'll lose it quick, so mount up! We're here to see you through. As for me, nothing much has changed. I have been looking deeper into the revision, but I'm thinking that's going to be a ways down the road. Even if I get to goal with my band years from now, I know I can never go back to just nothing. I can gain way too easily and I really don't want to be right back where I left off or worse. I cancelled my unfill appt and instead made an appointment to see my surgeons nutritionist. Maybe I just need to be lead back into the right direction? We'll see how that goes. I know I am having issues though because I woke up almost all night the other night with my coughing fits. Some last night too. :-( I'm going to try not eating too late and see how that holds. Shiny, at least you're doing you're workouts! I know it must be really very frustrating though, battling the sweet demon. So sad!! I wish I could just slay him once and for all and he is never able to return. He's like Jason from Friday the 13th!! Just when you think you've conquered him... well... you know how it goes. I'm on part 299 right now! Ezma, I wish I had some good advice for you with your son. But, you're a great Mom and I'm sure you'll get it right. I never had a lot of boyfriends growing up and held down my virtuosity for a bit longer than other girls my age and for the time it was in. Now a days it would seem like I was an old woman! lol What I remember though is that my Mom would always be open with the discussion and always tried to tell me the things boys would do to try to convince me. She would also tell me that I'm special and I should wait for someone that I loved - and when the time came, just to be open with her about it. It wasn't too weird ( I mean it was a little but I'm glad she did it).. anyway what I'm saying is, just try talking with him a little bit. My Mom didn't mind talking to my brothers either. It can't hurt and even if he doesn't receive it well, at least you know you did what you could. Ok well, hope everyone's doing good for a Monday. I'm slammed at work and I've had this spreadsheet due forever. I'll check in again soon! :wink3:

    Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!

Corrected link: theworldaccordingtoeggface There are some great recipes. I'm definitely going to try the protein ice cream. LisaA - I like all of your dessert suggestions! I consider recipes to be suggestions and idea starters. I found a few recipes ideas on another site with desserts for diabetics that I will modify using some ideas from TheWorldAccordingToEggFace. I'm considering a thin cheesecake base (vanilla or lemon) with a fresh fruit topping and a layered pumpkin cheesecake. I have estimated calories at 100-150 and 10-12g of protein per slice based on my revisions. TheWorldAccordingToEggFace had a great idea to use Torani sugar-free syrup instead of butter or margarine when making the crumb crust.
  5. Thank you all so much for the info!!! How was the insurance process for the revision? Also was your band removed at the same time as the bypass? How was the recovery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Okay, I finally caught up on all the back posts. How wonderful to see everyone posting here. What I'm seeing is a lot of us settling into real life and trying to figure out how to incorporate the changes we made from having a band into what our daily lives hold. It is certainly a process and I am glad to have the support of you all during it. Crystal, if you truly think the band can't work with your stomach properly have you looked into other options like a gastric sleeve? I've read quite a bit about that on this site. I have had virtually no problems with my band, but if i ever did have complications I would seriously consider revising from band to sleeve. I think a sleeve would eliminate the being-too-tight thing. It's funny, but at first I wanted the band because it was reversible if needed. Now that I've lost so much weight, there's no way in the world I want this reversed! So a more permanent solution is a more realistic option. On running. It surprises me that it's something that I've gotten into. I hated running. Couldn't figure out why someone would do that on purpose unless a large animal was chasing them. But as I started walking I felt empowered. So eventually I tried running a few steps. It freed me from this pre-conceived notion that I couldn't run and was too weak to ever do so. I was strong enough to do that little bit and strong enough to add to it day by day. I used the couch to 5K and thought it was pretty challenging. I didn't know any couch potatoes that could do the amount of walking/running that it prescribes to begin with. But eventually I got there and was able to progress a bit at a time. Like Angie said, I don't know if you'd really call what I do running, it's more what most people would consider jogging, but I call it running because to me that's what I'm doing. I'm not sprinting, but I'm running at a pace that I can sustain for 2 miles or more. Sometimes, though, my workouts fizzle out. I went to the gym yesterday, having had a great run on Monday, and just couldn't do it. I ran for about 5 minutes and just didn't have the oomph to keep going. My goal is 45 minutes of exercise, so walking counted. I got tired of doing the walking eventually and moved to the stationary bike for the last 13 minutes. Today we are going to walk to the library for our exercise. I think it's about a mile away. We'll see how long it takes with the kids in tow. There's a mom and toddler group, followed by a mom's group with free babysitting. I'm looking forward to it. I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Surgeon trying to talk me into band.

Quote I had a consult with a surgeon and he's trying to talk me into the band. Given my bmi is only 36, He thinks I will loose a great amount of weight and become malnourished. I believe there are other reason for his push on the band. Like follow ups and the fills, means more . I over heard him through the wall, to the room next to mine, trying to push the band on another patient. Should I give the band a try first then have revision later if it fails?? So stressed over this! I have had the band for five years and for about the first 2 1/2 it worked great. I am finishing my final process to have a revision to the sleeve. Because my complications with the band are becoming so unbearable! I am actually on an all starch diet due to gastritis which I have NEVER had in my life. Now with these last few weeks constant diarrhea and dry heaves are horrible and make u feel dizzy! Honestly I would choose the sleeve first if I knew what I know now. Aftercare is set up for any and everything required. You don't even come in till you feel you need it. Why put yourself through two surgeries the sleeve was the newest option When I got my band five years ago Chat With me privately if you want to keep talking about it

    All of my December sleevers...

I had to share...I hit 100 pounds today from my pre-band weight. I'm down 78 from my sleeve on 12/17/13. For those of you whose doctors say revisions don't do as well as "virgin" sleevers...I say, heck NO! I still have a ways to go, but I'm still losing it!

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

I had a band to sleeve revision 3 weeks ago at Hospital Mi with Dr Lopez. Not having US follow up after surgery is a HUGE disadvantage now. Lots of questions and concerns go unanswered. If I could do it over....
  11. With the band you can always (though I understand not easy / cheap) revise to VSG or RNY. That was one reason why I choose the band over RNY. The Sleeve wasn't offered in orientation until Nov/Dec, way after my second band failure. Let me tell you it may be easier losing weight with the Sleeve but it’s still hard. We need our brains fixed for perfect weight lose.

So it is Saturday morning weigh in day! 4 pounds gone. Maybe I will be at revised goal by the time I get this fill removed! Going to go in during spring break which is not this coming week but the following. Well we are going to head out and do something. I don't want to sit in the house all day!

I am here I just have been dealing with Plastic Surgery issues. Now the doc that I was going to in Portland called me with the revised price and it is up to 13500$ I can't afford that at all. So I am going to the consult with the doc in town tomorrow. They were good enough to push the consult up so that I could figure out the financing issues. This seriously has been a bumpy ride. Then there is the fill issue. I am sure that my tummy is inflammed from the pb'ing issues yesterday but I could hardly get anything down today. I didn't eat my lunch but had crackers instead because they would go down. I may have to break down and go get more of an unfill because I don't know that I can keep this up until June. But on a good note I did just get my wedding pictures, so when I get home I will put them together in a collage and post them. They aren't great, but the do show how much fun we had. Just so you know, my DH doesn't like to smile for pictures!

Good Morning! Beautiful sunny morning here in Bodega Bay, but cold! But we better not complain because it's 20 degrees colder at home in WA! Chatted with our oldest daughter online for a few minutes last night and she was downright depressed! It's cold, raining every day and she's on spring break week. It's supposed to start warming up here at the ocean tomorrow, but that's the day we're heading out! We were supposed to stay until Thurs until DH told me yesterday he doesn't want to take I-5 home... we're going up on 101 which means an extra travel day. And also, we'll stop at my sisters for one night and she'll nag us to stay another! So yesterday afternoon I had to completely revise my route on my laptop .... I AM THE NAVIGATOR..... and find RV parks to stay at on the way. I'm getting excited about PS plans everyone is starting to think about! I'm anxious to hear how it goes for you, Karri. Free Wi-Fi at this park. May be the last I see until I get home!!

Woot! Was down 4 pounds when I went to the doctor's today. I deserve it because I have finally started exercising. I have revised my goal. I'm officially gunning for Twoterville by the end of the month. I hope I can lose 5.4 pounds in two weeks. I don't want to plateau and be disappointed. That's amazing Libra. Not your weight loss (which is , of course) but the job. Molly, we all go through down stages but I'm confident you come through it with flying colours. FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY

My current weight is 180, my BMI is 30.9, my highest weight ever was 260, I know after living with a very restrictive band for so long that my body got used to less calories, I'm willing to do my part, I still go to Crossfit 3x a week and try hard to eat right, but I know I need a tool and right now I don't have one. Iv had a continuous slow gain since I revised to sleeve, it's just a matter of time until I put it all back on if I don't do this.

    Newly banded

@@jhayden1 Had a successful band for 7 years, and just recently revised to a sleeve (preventive more than necessary) but yes, unfortunately I remember those days before the first fill. Some people had restriction with just the band alone, unfortunately, I was not one of them lol. You'll also be having quite a bit of false hunger sensations and that's from the inside healing and/or acid. Congratz and am excited for you. I loved my band

How was your 5:2 day today?

I am going to challenge you on this - in a caring way! You are very close to your goal range - every freaking middle aged woman in the developed world wants to weigh 10-20 pounds less than they do. I don't think you NEED a revision. I think you are expressing the same dang annoying thing I am experiencing. I can eat more. I like to eat - especially delicious food . I have to either up the activity or up my personal committment to eating "right" to get back to skinny chick zone. Ain't nothing like an amazing man in your life to tell you that you are the hottest ticket in town..haha... and i keep thinking, you should have seen me a year ago! ha! but i will take the compliment

How was your 5:2 day today?

Globe - I can't explain it, but something about Neibles made me nervous - I think it was his deranged fan. By the way, Dr Sauceda has a few of them too. I came to realize that someone who used to weigh 500# and now has lost a bunch of weight and has had plastics but has no real relationships (I am not talking about just with a man - I mean in general) is a prime candidate to become obsessed with a surgeon. Dr S I promise is not difficult in spite of some of his crazy ass fans. Anyway, some of the pix I have seen of Niebles work are amazing, but the key is to see lots and lots and lots of before and afters. Dr Sauceda has done about 300 jumbo procedures (ie multiple stuff at once) and I have seen before and afters of probably 50 of them. That helps build confidence - but not everyone gets the same results, it is very individual. Some of these women started out much heavier and in much worse condition. When I posted some before pix one of the ladies told me that I look as good as some of the "afters" - you need to keep all of that in mind. A doc who takes on more difficult cases is not going to have as perfect of looking afters either. Take a look at this thread and I would contact TulipTwy to try to understand the specifics. Every surgeon has some that are less then ideal and this woman has NOT shared photos so I don't know what to think, but it is just another data point. http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/body-makeovers-and-cosmetic-surgery/23333-lower-body-lift-belt-lipectomy.html What I mean about less tight - is Dr S doesn't remove as much skin as some surgeons. Lower risk of wound separation etc. i know he removes less because I was ready to do plastics in the USA in the spring and I know how much she was planning on taking of my tummy and he did less. Also, he TOLD me that he is more conservative. He told me he would rather have to revise someone (ie take more skin) then have too high risk of complications. This is part of the sane approach which allows him to do a bunch at once. Flip side is, she was going to do my work over 3 surgeries - something I could NOT deal with so the trade off is worth it to me. The key thing to understand about plastics is it is a serious of tradeoffs - risk versus benefits. Scars versus results... that sort of thing. Thank you FYE - you are a true artist and that comes across in the way your present yourself too. I sometimes think I am just an ordinary middle age woman trying to look 20 years younger, not really an ideal goal. I am adjusting myself though, i still dress fashionably, youthfully (dresses and tights and boots and skinnies and all that) but trying to rein it in to get a nice look rather then a "trying too hard" look. Work in process
  20. Just checking in--you all know my crazy life. Insurance was giving my doctor such a hard time for port revision surgery, so he is going to use some machine to flip it manually? The surgery will be right in his office--it is scheduled for September 28. I am trying to research so I ask the right questions--will need to post a thread to see if anyone has ever heard of this?:biggrin:

    June 2007 Bandsters

Thanks Stef. Missy I am moving too, though not as far as you. I only have a one-bedroom place but it's still a freaking nightmare. Hope you get thought it OK. Note to self: Don't buy stuff. BeckieT, I'm so happy your port revision went fine. Now the band can do its job better and the rest of us can breathe easier knowing that it's not tooo major. So glad you're 'fixed'. Note for you guys: Don't try to eat dried apple rings. They will boogy in your osephegus all night havin' a NY party of their own.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Janet, my surgery date isn't until Nov. 30. I no longer have a uterus or cervix, so mine is just like an inside out sock (as the doc says). When they do the procedure, the bladder will be put back where it belongs and hopefully work on the rectum issues as well The paper is not going well. Instead of just writing and THEN revising, I am finding myself over stressing and analyzing every word. I need to stop. Phyl, I glad Earl is getting his nasal issues taken care of. Is this something Earl knew about or is this the first time a doc actually looked at the issue? Janet, I hope that Andrew's appartment works for him. It is time for him to try his own place. You both will have fun setting him up for the first time. Linda, hang in there! Phyl, maybe you need to call the doc's office and tell them that you are in so much pain that you need to see them earlier. It is worth a try. Candic...you home yet? Well best get back to it!

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Yes...they pay pretty crappy. I took a 20000$ pay cut to come here. The Texas weather has been nuts. We are supposed to get freezing rain, sleet and 3-5 inches of snow tonight. I'm really hoping the weatherman is RIGHT! Well the doctor today was pretty convinced he could get my revision to bypass covered by insurance. He doesn't a different type of RNY that doesn't lead to as much malabsorption (it's a new technique in the last 3 years). He spent a long time talking about the complications with the band. I was shocked at how much he said that I realized I had. I won't go into it here because if people aren't having issues than I'm not going to bring up negatives. Just one piece of advice...if you PB...makes sure you brush your teeth. A recent article in a dentistry journal is showing that bandsters have a HIGH rate of tooth decay (along the same lines as bulemia). Never thought about that at all!! I think that if he can get it, I am going to go through with the bypass. It has the most research, history, and longevity studies. In three years I don't want to be hearing about problems with the sleeve and end up with a revision again. However if insurance doesn't cover it I will end up with a revision to a sleeve just because it is cheaper. Well I need to go to bed in case I actually do have to go †o work tomorrow.

I just love the fact that I can wear a matching set of something again!Haven’t had the bottoms and tops as the same size in ages. Hoping this journey continues smoothly. Doing it all over post revision but having fun with it!

How was your 5:2 day today?

Susan, the re-sleeve I've done a lot of reading here on the forum and the one thing that I notice is that sometimes band to sleeve revisions to seem to have as much restriction as a virgin sleeve? Maybe Jane you can speak to that.. M2G, Ugh two girls sick no fun.. My son is 11 I noticed this girl make a bee line for him last month at the thanksgiving feast... Then I saw her again at his side chatting him up at honor roll.. I ask him about her and said I think she likes you. He said I was crazy hehehe.. But then came home and said I was right hence the new clothes. Now 11 is young for girlfriends but when you kid has Tourette's.... Well they are treated different Oh and size five fingers??? OMG that's small! Oh and thank you guys for the compliments yes looking in that store mirror I wasn't upset and that feels good Oh yes coops I love the green of that sweater too! Cathy, I'm sorry your going through back pain. I think that the worse kind of pain there is there just seems to be no relief Sarsar!! Look at you !!!!!! Tiny and cute Oh I'm an old mom I had them much later..
