I cannot stand this liquid diet anymore!! I was on it 2 weeks pre-op and now 2 weeks post-op. I want food!! It is starting to make me very miserable and feeling depressed. I cannot wait til Tuesday when I begin my pureed diet for 2 weeks. I just hope that after a few days, I don't feel the same way. I just need to get through the next few days and time seems to be standing still, ughhh.

I am roughly 4 mo. 2 weeks Post Op and just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant. This will be our second child. I'm in shock I think. Selfishly I'm wondering will I loose weight during pregnancy (not that I want to), but for restrictive reasons?? Im scared that bc i cant eat much, will that harm the baby? Will I loose weight after the baby? Can I still drink my Protein drinks? Did I ruin my chances of ever getting rid of this weight? I still have 45 more to loose. Help!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Women monthly cycle
jhclikesshopping@gmail.com replied to pinkee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine skipped a month and then become irregular (6 weeks between). And... the duration pre surgery was 3-4 days and after surgery 8-9 days. So much I needed to take Iron supplement during the period. Now I am 8 months out and pretty much back to normal. 30 days between (this is my normal) and 4-5 days duration (much closer to 3-4). But the big difference - the amount..... and when I say amount.... I mean tampons were not working... needed tampon and pads every 1-2 hours. Sorry - I know TMI!!! but you asked -
Is it accurate that you have only lost 4lbs on a liquid diet for 4 weeks or have you just not updated you ticker?

Shellbell333 replied to taylormarie421's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yah! Push the pain pump button IF you need it. We will never judge. I'm 3 weeks out and lost 24lbs. After the 1st week I missed chewing and swallowing. But after the 2nd week I could have baby foods and that made me happy. Now this week it's Fork soft foods. I have no regrets. I just have to remember to sip ALL THE TIME and walk. You're on your way. Yah!!!!! -
Im 4wks post op, and two weeks late, which is not normal for me so I was wondering if the surgery had anything to do with it?

Hello all, Just wanted to make sure to emphasize that your monthly checkups have to be exactly a month apart. I missed it by 2 weeks because my Dr. was out of the country for a class and I was denied because of it only after appeal and written explanation of the two overdue Dr. appoint did they ever approved me. I have Cigna and apparently they are very serious about their rules. I started this process back in August and surgery is scheduled for May 14th. I know you're anxious but hopefully it will all be worth it. Good Luck Susie -
Surgery w/head congestion??
JayTee562 replied to smilan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem last week and was concerned about my surgery getting cancled even though it's a little further away than yours. I went to my pcp got an anitbiotic and some alergy relief meds knowcked it right out. Good luck and hop you feel better -
The word gulping really reminded me of my early days. I was only having sips but I was swallowing a lot air. I was concerned thinking that's how things were going to be forever!! Thankfully the amount of air I was swallowing went down to what I consider normal a couple of weeks after surgery. It'll get better very soon and you'll probably forget about these concerns!

same here guys, after my first two weeks of being sleeved i lost a total of 14 pounds, then the third week as i introduced pureed foods (i follow a list which my nut gave me, tells me what i should be eating each week) n my weight loss stopped, i was like omg should i go back to full liquids.. then i either went down 1 pound, n then over night i gained 3 pounds n i stayed there for almost the whole week.. wow i just realized it wasn't that long lol felt like forever!. this is my fourth week n it was on Wednesday morning that i weight my self that the scale went down 1.5 pounds yay!.. n then the today i was tempted to weight myself again..so i did lol.. n down another 1.5 pounds.. which is awesome! i havent been able to drink the whole 64oz, n meet the require 80g of protein per day.. just half.. maybe thats y my weight have staled.. n losing inches yay size 14! plus i havent been walking like i used too.. so them 1.5 pounds are like miracles to me. i know i need to put my part n break the old habits, n don't let them creep back in. so i started a garden 2 weeks ago, n yesturday i went outside to plant them in soil, my plants are soo cute.. i am growing watermelon, cantaloupe, tomato, parsly, corn, mixed lettuce leaves.. n thats it.. lol so i broke a sweat from that. but i know i have to push it more.. so hoping my appointment goes well .. will be one month out in april 5, i want to exercise so bad, cardio! .. so yea.. i have those days too.. sometimes we have to "GET UP N DO IT"

Going To Mexico For My ...again! Lap Band To Gastric Sleeve Surgery
rahnava posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am working this week to schedule my sleeve surgery with Dr. Garcia for January 30th. Back in 2006 I went to Mexico for a lapband with Dr. Joya. Mexico was great and I enjoyed the experience until my band eroded into my stomach. I've since had it removed and I am healed and cleared for the sleeve. Has anyone ever had this experience and are going to or had the sleeve? I'm totally excited to go back to Mexico. I've never been to a hospital where you ring the call bell and hear people run down the hall. -
Dr. John Bagnato - I'm new and nervous

I hear you on the carbonated drinks! I am a 1 1/2 weeks post op and have been eyeing a coke from time to time. For me so far, there are plenty of other options that are very tasty :tongue2:. So this really has not been an issue yet...have thought about it though!!!! I just keep reminding myself that this is all a life style change! -
you just need to keep your eye on the prize that sounds like it would be your goal weight on your ticker.. You really need to keep tracking.. If you dont it can get away from you quickly.. This is the one way I eat a few things I want without stressing.. I track it and make sure I make up for it somehow. My weight loss has slowed down to about an avg of 1 lb per week.. I am happy as long as it keeps going down.. Stay focused.. If you find this is difficult, you may need a little one on one counseling to dig deeper Good Luck

Good for you for reacting quickly to a minor gain!! Compared to what you have presumably lost, losing five pounds is nothing. Are you maintaining a food log? If not, now is a great time to start. My Fitness Pal highly recommended if you don't have an app already. Set your app for losing a pound a week with the associated calorie goal. Follow your plan for a week and see what happens with your weight. If you lose, great. If you gain or stay the same, reduce your calorie goal by 100-200 calories a day. Follow your plan for a week and see what happens with your weight. You'll quickly be able to determine the calorie goal you need to maintain to lose the five pounds. It's easy and it works like a charm!!

I am scheduled with him in PVR on May 17. Good Luck next week. In so excited for you and can't wait until my day finally comes. Please post your experience here. I've reached him for awhile but there us not a whole lot. But so far I like what I hear. I'm thinking the price is the major reason for his low fan base. He is higher than most.

I was a bit of a chicken to take my first shower and I waited to take a full shower until three days after the surgery. Before that, I gave myself quick sponge baths. I guess I was worried about irritating the incisions and possibly causing an infection. My doctor told me I could take a shower as early as the day after surgery, but to face away from the Water stream so that the water wouldn't beat down on the incisions.

Failing Lap Band NEED HELP
junibug replied to riseandfall9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Brian, Sorry you are having such a hard time. Please go to another Dr. on Monday!! Don't waste anytime. You have done the right thing by asking for advise, so that shows you are a strong person. YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS HUDDLE WITHOUT HELP FROM DRUGS OR ALCOHOL!! I am new, only been banded 6 weeks, so I can't help you with the right advise, but I do know you sholdn't be drinking alcohol, so please call a friend and don't isolate yourself. You WILL get thru this. Hang in there buddy. Junibug -
Getting Prepared for Surgery
missybean replied to chiara55's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the website I will look into that. My journey has begun like this my Heath insurance requires me to visit with a nutritionist 4 times. I had my first visit before the weight loss seminar. So tht knocked one visit out. After the seminar I met with the surgeon and she gave me a "to do" list. I had to schedule 3 more visits to the nutritionist which aug 6 is my third visit, she scheduled me for an endoscopy, which I had three days ago, I had my psych eval last week as well. I have to keep food logs on my fitness pal for the nutritionist. The longest thing for me are the nutrition visits because they can only be scheduled one month apart so my last will be the beginning of September and I should get my date of surgery -
help! I had a slipup on liquid diet...
cejiogu replied to AbsoluteEnvy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do not worry! You start clean tomorrow, and no talk of laxatives! That sounds like eating disorder talk. The pre op diet is so you can get use to the first two weeks post op and loose some fat from around your liver. It's makes it easier for your surgeon to work. -
Thanks for the replies. I do have an app on my phone to remind me to drink. I have to leave it on vibrate mode while at work. This past week I've been helping train a new girl and since we have someone training the new girl all day, one person on maternaty leave and one peron out sick for 2 days, our 4 person team was reduced to 1.5 people. Which ment non-stop phone calls and data entry. I have to admit I ignored the buzzing on my phone or didn't notice it at all until I started getting that feeling in the back of my throat. In reference to Gatorade 2 does it really combat dehydration or is it just empty calories? And if it does how much is it going to take? I drank a 20 oz bottle of it both Friday and Saturday along with as much Water as I could get in and I'm still feeling the drying in my throat. My health coach also recommnded putting a pinch of salt in my water with the therory that water follows salt into you cells. I tried that once but haven't tried again. I don't want to consume too much salt. Thanks Any other suggestions? I REALLY do not want another IV.

<2 weeks out and having problems with anything other than water
momohime posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on May 5th, so I'm a little over a week and some change out. So far, everything has been great.. with one exception, of course. I know I'm supposed to be getting my Protein in and drinking a ton of Water.. problem is, just the thought of my Protein shakes makes my stomach churn. I have a hard time with popsicles and jell-o too, to the point where.. since my surgery, I have had exactly 1 Protein shake, 3 popsicles, 2 jell-o cups, and I tried a few bites of yogurt but my stomach said NO! I haven't even been getting in as much water as I should.. and my surgeon said wait before I start taking my Multivitamins and Calcium until 2 weeks out, so I haven't even been doing that. I've lost 15 pounds since my surgery date, but I'm worried that because my diet is so extremely lacking in protein and basically everything else that what I've lost has been muscle. Has anybody else had this problem? Have I just totally screwed myself with muscle loss instead of fat loss? I guess I just need to woman up and drink the protein shakes anyway, but holy crap.. do not want! -
