Yes, you can puree pinto Beans. You can have canned chicken or tuna on the puree stage. I would mix my chicken with a little lowfat mayo and seasonings and have it like a little chicken salad. Refried beans, hummus, yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, ricotta bake.

ouncestoo much food Am I eating too much?
nsantoro126 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, Okay, so I am in the puree diet phase. I bought this "Powerful Yogurt" that has 20 grams of protein but it is an 8 ounce container. I can pretty much eat the entire container without any problems, actually, I have noticed that I have been able to eat more of anything lately. I know initial swelling keeps the stomach smaller and it once the swelling starts to go down, you ca eat more, but is this too much? I thought I wasn't able to eat this much? Is my stomach increasing too much? I am worried because I lost 18 lbs (3 weeks post op) and now it's slowing down. Am I not losing enough fast enough? Sorry for all the questions and terrible grammar. I am just nervous! Thanks guys and gals! -

14 Weeks Post Op - Multiple Stalls
Clementine Sky replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I added in an afternoon coffee break with coworkers / friends. My typical order is an iced latte with whole fat milk, or almond milk. The extra calories helped. My stomach was a bit temperamental for the first couple of months post-op, and I reverted to liquids and soft foods at the time when most would advance, to give it a bit more time to adjust. The downside of this was not consuming enough calories, which made the "week three stall" last much longer. I switched from 2% / low fat dairy to full fat milk and yogurt. Fair Life was my favorite milk, and I most often used the Trader Joe's brand of plain Greek yogurt. I had a lot of smoothies with their full fat yogurt that had 22 grams of protein and 7 carbs, berries (lower in carbs) and frozen kale (the taste and color were disguised by the berries). When I made chocolate protein shakes I added in freshly ground almond butter or peanut butter from Whole Foods rather than PB2 to get in more calories and fat. Liquids have always been easier for me to take in than solids. I have to be careful with them because I can overdo it, but during that time they were beneficial. -
How Long Post-op Until You Were Able to Eat Carbs & Fried Foods Again?
Sadie24304 replied to Littel_Urchin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You are so lucky. My problem is with my appetite this past week or so. I am not hungry. I drink water when I can. I notice that when I put ice in my water I drink it more easily. I have a b12 vitamin patch now and I take centrum. Tomorrow is my first post op appointment. Let's see what the doctor tells me. I love herbalife shakes and I am going to use them as my protein shakes. I tried other brands and don't like the taste. Yes the chicken broth is great. I will definitely try the Chobani low fat yogurts. Thank you so much. -

i cannot stand stevia - it tastes like chemicals to me - however splenda doesn't, go figure - I use splenda in my tea and yogurt daily. I have been on a looonnggg stall but i highly doubt it is the 2 splenda packs I have a day -
Anyone out there with a sweet tooth!?!
Alexandra replied to Bright's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Bright, It's really hard to kick a sweets habit cold-turkey, so I'd suggest you not even try. My poison of choice in the sweets department is ice cream--which, thank goodness, is mushy so I didn't have to go without for long. Too much of anything creates cravings for what one is avoiding, I find, so my goal is balance. Protein first doesn't mean I can't have a small dish of frozen yogurt for dessert, if I want it. I'd imagine a WW-type "points" system would work just fine post-band if you assiduously take care to get in all your protein. Remembering that the quantity you can ingest will have been cut in half or so, you'll have to make choices based on nutritional priorities rather than just what your taste buds want at a given moment. -
List Of "mushy Foods" Please Let There Be Salmon On That List.
honk replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First week of mushies I could have yogurt, ricotta and cottage cheese. Week two added egg whites and canned chicken or tuna. I supposed you could do canned salmon. Salad is not a mushy it's a solid. I used Low fat Laughing Cow cheese to mix in the chicken/tuna (instead of mayo a lot less cals and fat) and on the egg whites. -
I love sweet potato but I can't eat snacks much less blueberries. Since I got fill #4 I have been able to eat only this: mashed poatoes, blended soup, ice cream, protein shakes, water, yogurt, and 1/2 the time I pb on this stuff! I have PB'd on ice cream! I am making an appt with Dr. Barker today to discuss all of this. I think maybe I need an unfill and a nutritionist. I cannot stress to new or wanna be bandster how much you need a doc with follow up. My doc has no follow up - sent me to Dr. Maese who is the biggest jerk, and now I have the 2 of them telling me different things, and my body telling me completely another!

How long before you were eating mushy-food?
IlliterateJedi posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, my surgeon said that it would be 10-14 days before I would be eating semi-solid foods. Basically it boiled down, according to him, that it would be about 10 days before you would probably start feeling hungry enough to want to eat anything semi-solid, and at that point you could start adding in some more semi-solid foods. 14 was just the max before you probably should. I will start on the 10th day or a little sooner - Right now I'm 6 days post-op. I was fortunate to not have been sick by this surgery. I never vomited, never felt ill, etc. While I still have pain where the incisions were, overall I feel pretty decent. Anyway - What I'm wondering is - How long was it before you were able to stomach semi-solid foods? I include in this yogurt, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, grits, cream of wheat, creamy Soups, etc. -
I love both!! I just made sf jello and stirred the nonfat cottage cheese into it--tastes great. I have used yogurt plain for sour cream bases, like topping baked potatoes, in Mexican dishes and salads, also as the milk part of a serving of granola or cereal. The taste grows on you--did not know if I would like it with some foods, but after trying them I find I really do like to eat it as part of a meal. The nonsugar fruit jams are great mixers for the plain yogurt.

Greek Yogurt and Cottage Cheese???
emily_0192010 replied to ashleyc's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
It is very mild, i guess similar to mozzarella cheese. Without anything added in it is not sweet, sour or tangy. It is very neutral which is why some people like it paired with fruit and jellies or jams, while other people (me!) like it with salty stuff like crackers. Now, unlike cream cheese or yogurt it is not a smooth texture but I really like it that way. Just try it! If you don't like it then you know -

Truthful Regrets, Anyone?
gettingsleevedintexas replied to Tiff187's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure how I feel. I had surgery on 7/25/12 and have lost 27 lbs since my surgery date. Problem is eating, I have so much difficulty eating anything. On a typical day I have a protein shake for breakfast, greek yogurt for a snack, string cheese for lunch, Unjury Chicken Broth for a snack and by dinner all I can force down is a piece of chicken breast (from a chicken shish kabob) and 2 pieces of sliced squash. Eating is uncomfortable and is a chore. Nothing tastes good and I have no desire to eat, I'm5 weeks post-op, when will this change? I don't want to gorge myself, but eating without feeling sick or experiencing gas pains in my shoulders would be great. -

I've had hello too. I'm so sick of protein shakes! Bring on the softys is right! I tolerated a yogurt & a couple bites of cottage cheese well and it made me feel sooooo much better. I've been light headed dizzy and felt soooo calorie deprived. Just curious if any other 11 dayers are hvn soft food??? -

Clears will be gone before you know it. Then it's onward to yogurt, drinkable yogurt, delicious Protein drinks, Soups. Egg drop soup was my favorite.

Mac where do you find fage yogurt? Is that something you find in a health food store or a regular ol grocery store? I love laughing cow cheese too. It's great for only 35 calories. I sometimes put it on those carckers I like.

I eat a lot of: meat (leftovers, deli meat, etc.) eggs (hard-boiled, egg salad, egg bites) string cheese (the 2% milkfat kind, not the full fat kind) cottage cheese (non-fat as I honestly can't taste any difference between full and no-fat cc) yogurt (FAGE has 20 g of Protein per 6 oz. serving) beef Jerky protein hot chocolate (I like the Nashua Nutrition/Healthwise brand the best) Protein shakes (I like Chike the best.) nuts (have to watch the quanities due to the fat, but they make a nice change) I did the bullets for a while, but after a while they made me gag. Milk is okay *in* things, but I can't drink more than 4-8 oz (used to be less) without getting gastric distress. I also sometimes use Protein Bars -- but only ones that have no more carbs than protein) and trail mix that I mix up myself. I also make a protein muffin that has a 3:1 carb to protein that is supposed to be good for recovery from exercise. I make them in a mini-muffin pan and have two after I work out. I think the key is to make every meal and snack protein-based. If you can only eat one egg, have a hard-boiled egg and something else (i.e., instead of crackers which are all carbs). Crackers are easy, but so is beef jerky. If you want crackers, have much less than you normally do, but put some Peanut Butter on them. Yeah, PB can be high in fat, but PB crackers will stay with you longer and have more protein than crackers alone. The other thing I do is cook a lot on the weekends so I have plenty of leftovers. I notice that, when I don't do this, I tend to eat worse because I grab the first handy thing that comes along. That always leads to bad choices IME.

It gets easier to get the protein in, I can still only do premade shakes, and add unflavored isopure to everything I can pudding, yogurt, tomato soup . . . It is available on Amazon and 26 grams pure spoonful. Hope that helps. -

I guess it's different for everyone, I'm on the purreed stage (starting the 4th week today, Yay!) I can get down only half of 1 scrambled egg with salmon purée even it's very tasty but I really cannot. I eat very slowly with a teaspoon, chew well and wait a little after swallowing to see if it already filled in the stomach and stop at that point. I practically can eat greek yogurt with purée fruit or scrambled egg in the amount of 2 full tablespoons. On the aother hand I can easily eat around 1/2 cup of liquid soup. I don't think the spasm thing is a good sign, maybe you should try to eat smaller bite and slower and drink water a little bit at a time. See if ithe stomach will agree with you. -

I think it's different for all of us. I got where the Isopure made me so nauseous. That was the closest I came to getting sick. Tomato soup sounds good. Farthest I've ventured is the yogurt and cottage cheese. Good protein there. I'm glad you're doing better. I was sleeved on the 2nd. I have t weighed since Sunday, but had been losing a pound a day. Hope that trend keeps up
