Hey! Thanks for the reply to my post!
I would love to have you as a LBB!
40lbs down in 8 weeks is awesome (was any of that loss from the pre op diet)! What have you been eating? What liquids did you stay on for the 2 weeks post op? I've bought sugar free jello, chicken broth, and Atkins protein shakes so far.

Hey Everyone... It's been about a week and a half since I was banded. I have had some bleeding from the port inscision, that won't stop. Any suggestions? I was banded in Mexico, and the Dr said to apply pressure. Which works if I don't move, get up or turn on my side.

Hi, I am doing ok, I have been on vacation for 2 weeks in Hawaii, did not lose anything or gain. Going in today for a fill.
I hope it helps. Sorry to hear your not losing.

Hey Music,
Missed you. Wondered what happened to you. When you get time I'd love to hear about your band. I'm a music lover.
I know what you mean about being away from home and having to eat out. It's something that we've got to learn to do though. You for sure don't want to sacrifice those 20 'whole" pounds that you worked so diligently to take off.
Have you tried some of these:
Hamburger without the bread? What about Popeyes red beans without the rice. Popeyes also has green beans.
Not trying to lecture you but March 25th is getting closer. Hang in there, I know you can do it.
Have a great week!
I'm doing good. I get my first fill on February 26th. Admittedly it makes me a bit nervous...just not knowing what to expect.
I'm going to a support group meeting tonight. If I hear of any quick/on the road meals I'll let you know.

I was banded Oct. 29, 2008. I have a 14 cc band. I had two fills so far. (6.5 ccs total) My weight was 229. I'm now 200. I just brought a wii fit and I love it. I try to work out at least 5 times a week. I can't wait for my third fill which is March 2. My doctor isn't agressive at all. He likes doing it slow. So Im thankful I have insurance that pays for it. If I was self pay I wouldn't like that.

My lap band is in 2 weeks. Can anyone out there who has been banded in the last few months answer me this. How hard has it been for you to change all your eating patterns. Do you still have the same must have's as you did B-4 surgery? Its hard to imagine not wanting to do what I've always wanted to do B-4. Is it that much easier? I work for a caterer and Im around great food and desserts all day and Im very scared I'll still have the compelling desire to eat everything . Please someone write me back..Thank you......Wendy

Hi Laura,
I am so happy that your surgery went well and you are back home! Yeah!!! I know they say that the for the next few weeks, its really about healing and not so much about what you eat. Do you know if your surgeon filled your band? Some don't fill them until later and some fill them in surgery. Mine says he does it in surgery, so there is immediate restriction. I am excited and can't wait. This liquid diet is hard though, especially today on Valentine's Day, when we usually celebrate with a nice dinner. I just have to remember that soon enough, I will be eating regular food again and so will you! Take it easy and rest. Take good care of yourself. I have been on here alot the past few days for support, it really does help! Talk to you soon!

I hate that I have started craving chocolate again. That has hurt me. How full is your band. I have 3.25cc total. I have lost 73 total. I lost 21 lbs on my own while I was going through all of the pre-op stuff, 13 lbs on the 2 week pre diet and the rest I have lost since my surgery on August 1, 2008. It is so very hard. I have got to start exercising too.

Hey Dannygirl!
Well I would say don't sweat about the one snicker. We all have our set backs. You can't always deprive yourself or else you will never stick to it. Just try to stay focused on your goal. After you eat something that is not very healthy try to jumpstart and work extra hard and think of that thing as a reward. That's what I do. I had a krispy kreme donut just last week and felt horrible but I looked at is as something to make me work harder and the next week I lost another pound!

kendallsmeme,
I am curious to see how things are going for you. I know we were both suppossed to be banded on November 19th. My surgery was moved to december 3rd. So far, I am doing okay. I have had two fills and have lost 15 lbs since surgery. This second fill is sooo tight. I got it on the 19th of Jan. and I still can't eat solid food. I am going to wait a week to see if the restriction gets better.
How was your surgery? How many fills?
-
My first fill I believe was 6weeks after surgery. My band holds 10ccs and I have 8ccs currently. My bandiversary is 3/27/09.

Focusing on eating better is definitely key - however, you really can have just about anything in smaller amounts (that has changed for me slightly now that I am tighter - and some people have trouble with certain foods even when they're not tight - you learn as you go.
Soda was truly one of the hardest things for me - Diet coke and Diet A&W root beer! However, sometimes towards the end of a time period when I need a fill I can still enjoy smaller amounts taken in sips.
Restaurant eating takes some getting used to - I actually enjoy it now - not caring if I spend a little more money on high quality food knowing that it will be about 3 meals for me (talk about getting your money's worth) the weirdest part is some of the stares you get from servers when it looks like you've barely touched your food - I think they feel I didn't like it - so I'm sure to tell them I loved it I'm just not that hungry.
Good Luck!

No I am not working yet, I'll go back on thw 25th. I took 2 weeks off and boy am I glad. Some people say they went back to work after taking a few days but, that in my opinion is not a good idea. I haven't had any complications and wounds look wonderful but this is a major surgery and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
It was the best choice I've made for myself in a very long time. I had my first follow-up appointment today and Dr. M was very impressed with my incisions and my overall progress. He doesn't fill your band until the 2nd week out. He believes in allow your body to heal from surgery to give you every possible chance at being successful.
When is your surgery?

Hi Shonia, I am in the same boat as your right now, wanting to have lapband and researching it. I have looked in to the lapband for the past 2 years, but this year I really, really know that I have to make a change. I have been reseraching it heavily for about 2 months now. I have an appt for an initial surgery consult on 1/29/09. My insurance requires I see a nutritionist and a psychologist. I have both of them scheduled for this week, so I am on my way to finding out if I am a good candidate. I think I am and I am ready to make it happen. I would love to be there for you and support you on your journey as well, band buddies? : )

Hey Happy Happy 40th Birthday - soon. I just had my birthday a couple weeks ago.
I will be seeing Dr. Teresa Kim. So what surgeon did you get to see??

Hi MyraMack:
I find this whole websit very confusing. I wasn't getting your messages and now I think I know how to find them. Anyway, for some reason I thought you were in CA and at the same Hospital as me. Your in CT, you are probably wondering why I asked if they tried to rescheule your date. Anyway, I got my pre op instructions today. Liquid diet going good, down 12lbs, though I do 2-3 shakes a day and a no carb, protein small meal and the weight has still been coming off. I'm feeling nervous, but mostly about the funeral and how I will feel and all the hugging and stuff. I'm going to do good with my pain meds on that day. Talk to you soon.
-
Yes, it is less than 2 weeks, it's more like 8 days! OMG! I am excited and scared but excited more . The liquid is easier now, it will be nice to get to someting else later tough. How is everyting for you?

I am actually getting nervous truth be told. I have been thinking about how it's in two weeks...and OMG am I gonna make it. All this. But, I know I will be fine. Talk to you soon girl.
