Keep on trucking! Most of us slow down at about that time period. Keep your eye on how the clothes fit and all your NSVs to get you through the slow downs. Sounds like you are doing wonderful!

My BIGGEST fear when going out to eat was always making sure they have tables available. I'm never able to fit into a booth. UNTIL NOW!!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! We went to our favorite diner and the waitress seated us, and took us to a booth. My hubby just looked at me, knowing that I always ask for a table. This time I just nodded and said 'this is fine' and I literally just slipped right in!!!! Such a stupid thing but I felt amazing. It was so cozy and my hubby and I giggled the entire dinner how exciting it was that we both fit in a booth! (he never fit either, he's sleeved too!) love my sleeve. Love my nsv's. Love everything now. <3

Coumadin and weight loss
Dairymary replied to Butterfly007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, all the doctors and published side effects of Coumadin will proclaim that it does not cause weight gain. It can cause boating, which may account for some Water weight, but not "real" weight. However, as a retired nurse, I have heard dozens upon dozens of patients complaint of weight gain after starting Coumadin. Anything from 10 to 40 pounds. And they couldn't lose the weight. Nobody (that I know of) ever did any sort of body composition studies to confirm if it was fat gain or Fluid gain, but there were too many complaints to ignore the fact that the numbers on the scale went up for a lot of Coumadin patients. Well, that's wrong, the doctors had no problems ignoring it. As a new WLS patient you could just be experiencing a normal stall, but some of it could be due to the Coumadin. In any case, all you can do is stick on plan and maybe stay off the scale for awhile. Take measurements and pay attention to NSVs and how your clothes fit. Do they know how long you will have to take the medication? -
I took a sip of soda before allowing it to go flat first a couple of weeks ago and I have to be honest, the bubbling from the carbonation doesn't feel good in my mouth anymore. Not only that, it became apparent that the gas in it could easily expand my pouch. Not worth it. I craved it really bad at first, so I would let it get flat (keeping it uncapped for a few days) before drinking it. That got me over the hump, but now I don't even need to do that anymore. I'm in love with green, black and black currant tea now. NSV

I am working so hard to try to lose 100lbs by my 6 month check up that while I was talking with my mom yesterday I realized that from my heaviest weight I have ever seen on a scale (329) which was probably about 3 months before my supervised 6 month diet I am DOWN 101lbs!!! This made me pretty happy, I am still plugging along and doing good but it's so funny how something just hits you! I really love this Ah-Ha moments. Also at work yesterday I went into the break room for lunch and put my stuff down on a table and went to sit down. I noticed that where I was there was a chair with arms instead of one with no arms. Normally I would of switched the chairs around, but I looked at that chair and I sat down in it and had plenty of room. LOVE LOVE LOVE that!!! I still giggle out loud every single time I slide into a booth and fit just fine. My family thinks it's cute!! LOL Hope this post finds you all having a great day!!!

Aw Margo, your NSV brought tears to my eyes girl! How wonderful to experience the freedom again, to dress up, to attend nice social functions, to dance! I'm so happy for you.. I know how much this would mean to me!

Stupid NSV, BUT I can see bits of the chair seat as I'm sitting on it. Here I was, sitting at my desk, lamenting/cursing my plateau, and for the first time ever I noticed that there is chairseat visible to the left and right of my legs, and some chair is showing between my legs (I'm wearing pants, it's not that Im wearing a skirt hiked up to the wazoo!!). Yippee!!!! Tapshoes spins on her chair like a giddy kid at a soda shop (those of you old enough to know what that is can appreciate the excitement of that novelty).

Congrats, that's a really greAT nsv and one that I'm looking forward to as well. :-) -
I love your NSV and the way you told us about it! Your enthusiasm made me smile so big! So far, the only way I've been able to do this is to buy bigger towels.

It's not lame at all. I had a similar experience. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me just not thinking. Then it hit me. Oh my, it wrapped all the way around. I was sooo excited. I pranced out into the livingroom and showed my husband. He just looked at me. I had to explain and his response was "Good". He didn't get it at all but it was still a major NSV to be celebrated. Congrats!!

I was in a week long class this week, with people from all over the country. No one had seen me in person before, only had worked with me remotely. I have a bum ankle/foot - which precludes me from wearing normal dress shoes. I wear orthotic inserts, a metal plate under one insert, and usually an ankle brace of some sort. To fit all this gear in, I wear Chuck Taylor's Converse All Star Tennis shoes with my work attire. I indulge my love of pretty shoes by having an assortment (20 pair0 of Chucks (lots of high tops) that match any business outfit I have. One of the woman at the class was complimenting my shoes on Friday. I explained why I wore Chucks - and mentioned to her I had to decide whether to something like them or bite the bullit and wear orthotic / nursing shoes. She said - "Oh, you are way to young to wear orthotic shoes. You are so beautiful thin, the Chuck's look really cute on you. They make a statement - you are young, with a edge. They are just part of your "brand."". I was so pleased, I laughed aloud. I can't imagine she would have said the same thing to me 9 months and 100 pounds ago. Her comments startled me - being considered young - as I will be 55 this Christmas - and meing caled beautiful thin and cute also took my breath away. This might me the nicest thing anyone has said to me since my surgery.

NSV for a newbie WOOHOO!
CheleLynn45 replied to LaLoLaughs's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
One NSV I have had, keeping with the car theme........... I hate pumping gas so much. I am very lucky that my hubby usually will do it for me. But for those times when he isn't around and I have to do it I have to get out of the car to reach the release for gas door. Well the other day my daughter who recently got her permit offered to fill my tank for me. She went around towards the pump and instead of asking her to hit the release for the gas tank I just reached down and did it. Afterwards I stopped and said to myself, "I just was able to reach down and release my gas tank!!" I know it is a simple thing but to me it was huge!! It has only been 4 weeks since my surgery and I have had a ton of these moments. I can't wait to see what other NSV's I have along the way as I lose more weight!! -
First off, yes I know that kids say the damnest things. I get that and I love that my 5 year old daughter is so innocent. But......... One of my "AHA" moments to have surgery was when my daughter thought I was going to break the toilet cause my butt was too big. I've had some great nsvs with her. Like that now she can wrap her arms around me and clasp her hands together. I'm about 4 1/2 months out and 150lbs ( 80 lbs lost), but strangely enough in the last couple weeks, I've started to feel self conscious again. I'm at a total loss of why this is. This morning I was getting changed and my daughter came in and started laughing and rolling on the floor. I asked her what was so funny and she came up to me, lifted my shirt and jiggled my tummy ( which is pretty jiggly at the moment) and said my tummy was like a huge amount of jello!!! Can you say ouch??? I know she didn't mean to hurt me and we had a chat about saying things about people (our second chat from when we were at the hospital and the kids and I met a man who lost both his legs - thank god he was okay with hers questions!!!) It just sucks cause I let it get under my skin and now I'm not sure how to feel better about it. Any insite would be great. Thanks

Feeling A Little Down.
Star1221 replied to amusgrave's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just think of it like this, if you're following your dr's plan, there's no way you can't lose. With the calories alone it makes it impossible. Add exercise to it, it the recipe for success. You guys got this. And weight is just a number, it's the NSVs (non scale victories) that mean the most. Smaller pants, shirt, and someone noticing that hasn't seen you in a while that says how great you look. -

Second is at 3 months after surgery down 55 lbs. Third is today, 5 months with 75 lb loss. I feel so much more in control of my life and choices.

Tomorrow, I check in with my surgeon, 1/2 way through my soft/purée stage. I was hoping to be down 10 more pounds but I wasn't going to stress over it. I am happy to say, as of this morning, I am down 9 more pounds PLUS I ventured into the next set of 10 digits on the scale!! WOOT!!! For work today, I am rocking a shirt I haven't worn in 1.5 years because it was too tight. Not today!! AND I can put on/off my jeans without unzipping or unbuttoning them!! Can I say I LOVE my sleeve!!?! I am feeling so lucky, I think I need to buy a lottery ticket!

Small Goals Make It Seem Achievable...
emily_0192010 replied to jhansen71's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I never set official goals, but I did not look at the long-term either. I suppose my next goal was also the next pound. I celebrated every pound down and I still do! It is most definitely the small victories and our NSV's that make this journey not only possible but enjoyable as well.
