Hello, I am looking for anyone that can help me. DISCLAIMER up front, I do not want anyone to be sorry for me. I appreciate it, but that is not why I am posting. I want to know if anyone else has had breast issues. I found a lump about the diameter of the top of my pinky, and it is pretty long or at least feels like it. I have no pain, but decreased sensation there. Also it is like a divot and a ripple on top of that. It looks VERY weird. I went to my Gyno yesterday, but after I got there they told me she was in surgery, so I waited over an hour to be fit into someone else's scheduale. The Dr did an exam, got no medical history, no family history. She said since it had only been there a few days, she thought we should wait it out. She told me I had my yearly in 3mos and if it was still there we should ultrasound it then. Then left on her merry way....no joke.... SO obvisouly I am going to go see someone else. Yes, I am young but had she taken the time to do her job she would have found out that I have a family history, Aunt that died at 35 of bc. Anyone else have this issue so young and not had someone taken you seriously? What do I need to do or say to MAKE sure I am paid attention to???? :angry

The best place for information about keto is probably Ketogains.com. They have a facebook group and a webpage with a very good macro calculator. They're very science based and won't take any BS. They don't promote macro percentages or super high fat. Instead they track their macros in grams. Essentially keeping carbs below 50 grams per day or rather 20 grams will put your body into a ketogenic state. Then you have to have your adequate protein. Not too much, not too little, actually their protein recommendation is the same as the bariatric one. If your body is already high fat you don't need to consume extra high fat. Which is also pretty much the post op bariatric diet anyway. Eat your protein first, then have some vegetables and in the case of keto, if you have room left in your post-op sleeve/pouch, you fill it with good fats, not starches. Some olive oil or butter for cooking the vegetables, meat or eggs, half an avocado, a handful of nuts or olives etc. I'm keto since 2013 and I find the true and real keto very healthful and good nutrition. The problem is, keto has become very mainstream and lots of people want to make money on it and start spreading these absurd versions of keto that won't get you closer to your goals. "Eat fat to lose fat." You really don't have to eat 85% fat to make ketones aka be ketogenic, you just have to limit your carbs, eat adequate protein and non starchy vegetables. For example my macros today, 8 weeks after having the sleeve are 21 g carbs, 94 g protein, 48 g fat, 896 kcal. 37 lbs lost so far.

What kind of workout did u do before the surgery? I did some walking but was not motivated bc I did not think I was making progress. Since I have been sleeved, I thought I would be more ready to workout. However, I'm still not motivated everyday! But just take your time and you will get the approval. It's all about constantly reminding yourself why u got the surgery!

I bought some gym shorts a month ago with no intention of every wearing them. I wore them this past weekend. Not at the gym, but around my father who was/is the root cause of all the emotional BS that triggered my overeating and self-esteem issues. He didn't say a word, other than to scold me for having a thigh tattoo he just now saw (that I've had for years). I haven't worn shorts since I was 10 years old because I was so ashamed of my thighs. I am now 30. So, after 20 years... shorts are back in the wardrobe.

I am 16 days post op and just wanted to dish out some.encouragement YOU ALL CAN DO THIS!!!! Believe me, the preop diet sucks majorly!!! But you can do it!!! I cheated on the preop diet. And cheated. And cheated. I was terrible. But looking back i wish i had followed it more. It was such a shock mentally after surgery not being able.to have anything pretty much!!! Im being forced to deal with my food addiction. And it sucks. But maybe if you guys can face the addiction by choosing to preop, hopefully it will be a little easier postop. Anyways, just wanted to put my two cents in. Dont let anyone tell you this is the easy way out bc youre already learning its def not!!! Youre making this decision for YOU AND YOUR HEALTH. It will be worth it!!!

hello, just from my side of the fence, a few years ago I had a couple of friends that were loosing weight like crazy, looked awsome! told me they where doing weight watchers i was so impressed that i again tried ww for the 3rd time of course doing good the first few weeks then gaining it all back again just to feel like a failure AGAIN! but they where doing so good, sooooooo more money and time invested to fail again. i finally made the decission to get banded (april 13th) and keep no secret about it, then i find out that my friends never went one day to weight watchers, they both have had WLS, and come to find out many of my friends have also, you cant imagine how many times i have heard " ohhh yeah! so and so had had the band too! " but to my friends that liedto me, im still pissed at.. was so unfair to convience me that something that worked so great was bs and to not only make me feel like a failure but to my friends and family who where looking at me like wow they could do it whats your problem? not keeping this a secret (not good at it anyway) i have found everyone to be a great support! -
For sure! Being a psych nurse I have a highly attuned BS detector 😂

Hey there I was banded Aug 1 and so far so good. The good part is the band is reversible and you will lose weight slowly which is ideal for health reasons. However, unlike other procedures our band could act up. There is lifelong maintenance of the band that has to be considered. Slips, etc could happpen if your not careful. Sometimes food gets stuck and I PB or throw up and I stress out becouse i am scared i hurt my band. I like the band becouse it can be adjusted. I stop losing weigt I will just get another fill (in theory bc i havent got a fill yet) But with other procedures you stretch your pouch and your screwed...you will gain weight again. I know its tough but good luck girlfriend and best of luck on your decision.

So today I was just curious to see what weight I would need to be at to fall into the"normal" range according to the BMI chart...Don't do it, I shouldn't have because it just pissed me off...haha. According to their chart I need to lose another 13lbs before barely making it into the "normal" range and then something new came up called the "Waist to Height" ratio???? Never heard of this so I went along and according to this number I fall right in the middle of healthy with the range being .4-.5. How is this possible?? So if I were to lose another 13 lbs. I would meet the "normal" criteria for BMI but then on the other end of the spectrum I would be considered "unhealthy" For the love of geez, this is all a bunch of BS in my opinion. I never set my goal weight according to my BMI because I know if I weighed that, I wouldn't look right. I guess it all depends on your build??? I think this is just a bunch of garbage but sadly enough people live their lives around these numbers and so it just infuriates me that you get such contradictory infomation. No wonder our society is in such turmoil regarding weight and socially "acceptable" perspecitives, you can't ever get a straight answer. Just thought I would throw this out there for discussion:-) LOL

I obvivously need to go to the doctor... but in the meantime I just wanted to hear from all of you! I have 3.25cc's in a 10cc band and get stuck on EVERYTHING!! Real quick on everything I've gone through so far... I had surgery and came out with 4cc's in my band. That first week I couldn't even drink water! So they removed all Fluid and then have been slowly working their way up! I got up to 3.75cc and thought I was going to die! Everything I ate, I threw up. So I went to the doctors they took pictures of my band to make sure everything looked right... and it did. She removed fluid and sent me on my way. I was ok for like 2 weeks and then BOOM... I can't eat anymore. It is really frustrating and not healthy. I swear some people think I have an eating disorder bc A.) I never eat and B.) I throw up 5 times out of 10. Has anyone else experienced this much discomfort when eating?? It is funny... I use to LOVE eating (ha! part of the reason why I had to get Lap-Band) and now it is a task and I really dread it. I cannot enjoy anything. I am miserable... except for when I get to go shopping and buy a smaller size! Hmmm.... if only I could shop instead of eat. haha only kidding.

There were times I used to stress over what people are saying on these boards bc I'm not experiencing the same things or not losing as much...however, even though I thought that I was losing slow my last visit to the dr. was awesome! She did nothing but rave over my 9 lb loss for the month. It was then that my thinking finally changed...no matter what rate I am losing, I am FINALLY losing. So since then I have stopped really reading the "negative" posts. Maybe many of us are so used to negative comments about our weight and health that we have fallen in that same mode. I can tell you this...It's been 4 months and I've lost 31 lbs and I am so excited it crazy. I am nowhere near my goal, but just seeing that I CAN do it is awesome!!! :smile2: I have a totally new outlook on life! I hope all bandsters learn to get excited about ANY loss! -
New From Alberta And In The Process Of Getting Banded
princess77 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello I live east of Edmonton, Alberta. I am in the process of becoming banded. Mostly waiting on insurance to see what or if they will cover any of the costs for my husband and I to get the lap band done. We are wanting to have Dr. Philip Mitchell out of Calgary,AB perform the surgery which he does it in Vancouver,BC. Anyone have any advise with the insurance process, did insurance cover yours, I have standard life and my husband has Desjardins so between the two we got our fingers crossed. Alberta Health said they cover some of the fees which really help, but with us both getting it done at the same time the costs are double. Any other advise anyone is willing to share it would be greatly appresiated. Thanks a bunch. -
So I must share with you.... Thank you for all your kind words of support. I am grateful. Let me also say when I posted the same message on ObesityHelp, I was attacked by every person who responded. I ultimately deactivated my profile. As it turns out, I will likely need a D/S (duodenal switch) and not a lapband (too long a story) because I have 9 yrs ago I had a lap gastric bypass. But at the end of the day, charging these BS fees to morbidly obese patients who have insurance just seems wrong. Again, I am so happy you are so supportive. M

I live in Sheridan (close to McMinnville)....it's a 4 hour drive, but I think it will be worth it...I had my consultation March 12th, they are just verifying my insurance (BCBS Fed) and then setting a date...I am really hoping for April, but I guess we will see...I also have been trying to schedule my psych eval.. They have a lady they use in McMinnville...but, we have just been playing phone tag so far...Denise, what was your psych eval like??? I am kinda nervous... G'night....hopefully I will get some answers tomorrow!!! -
Best wishes to all upcoming Band Dates. Just follow doctors orders prior to surgery. After my band date on Aug 6, they fed me a meal. Veggie Soup, hot decaf tes, and Crystal light lemonade with Protein. IT was tasty and I was ready for a meal. Most of us have to just have clear day before surgery, and no aspirin, motrin/aleeve 10 days from surgery. I'm 2 days now in post=op and other than a sore bellybutton area all is well. If the doctor gave you pain medicine or a prescription, have the nurses at hospital FAX it to your drugstore. This way it will be ready and if its been close to 4 hours from last time the hospital gave pain meds after surgery, have your pain med ready. This way you will sleep, thank the Lord and have a restful sleep with NO pain/discomfort. And remember the ehating pad does work for any should blade aches/pain. SIP SIP SIP not chug a large glass of Water like before surgery. Drink it in 2-3oz at a time. Good luck and Prayers for your speedy recovery

I had my first of 6 months of Dietician appts today and she said with a BMI of 38.8 and one CMF of high cholesterol I likely wouldn't be approved. I have BS of CA and Cigna. She then in a way told me that I would need to drop out completely, gain 8 lbs and start over. Up to this point the office staff had me Thinking I would be approved. So now I'm not sure what to do.
