Mine looked pretty much like yours. I had one bigger incision that had quite a bit of bruising around it, and it took almost 4 weeks for that bruise to go away completely. I think it is normal.

I hated the sleep study!!!! It has been a nightmare from the beginning. My doctor has three offices in three different cities, takes forever to schedule an appointment, has incompetent staff that lose paperwork. I'm just at a loss. I finished all my clearances, nutrition classes, blood work, psych approval blah blah blah in early November here it is January and I'm STILL waiting for an approval from him. I originally did the study at home then he claimed I needed to do the study in their overnight office. I barely slept either because hello... There is crap everywhere and I'm breathing through a machine that is hurting my lungs! So I push through the silly study and they tell me my number is 5. I can't remember the term off hand but I know it's the lowest number you can have for the mildest of mild sleep apnea. Mind you I have NO TROUBLE sleeping at all. So I had to get fitted for a machine, wait for it to be shipped, and now use it a full 30 days before my approval from his office. AND he said I probably don't need it. So with are you prescribing it? And then on top of that he says well I think it will be a good idea just in case you need during surgery... OK fine. I'm OK with that but if that's the ONLY REAL REASON you want me to have it then why do I need to use the dumb piece of crap for 30 days? Sigh. Can you tell I'm ranting. Just hijacking your post. Lol. My bad!!!! I seriously think its only for insurance and billing purposes. And extra doctor visits. Smh!!! Best of luck.

I'm ranting about my hair loss this morning. I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones it would not happen to, but no such luck. I had my sleeve surgery on 10/15/15. For the past 2 weeks I have been losing a lot of hair. The good news is I am no longer obese, just in the overweight range. I will deal with the hair loss, it will grow back. I never want the weight back.

A Ball Of Emotions- 3 Days Until Surgery Day!
Back~To~Amy replied to Prissy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there and welcome to VST. You've found a wonderful place for support. I had surgery 8 weeks & 4 days ago and can't be happier. I started at 304 and am now down 46 pounds. Prior to surgery, my whole body hurt all the time and I had zero energy. I'm still way overweight but it is amazing what losing 46 pounds has done for me. I only have aches and pains occasionally and they aren't near as bad. My energy level and overall stamina is way up too. I think you've made a great decision to be sleeved and you will feel amazing once you heal from the surgery. I had lots of postop pain issues but others had no issues at all. It's hard to say what your experience will be. However, even with all the pain I would go through it again in a heartbeat! If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Good luck to you in your journey! -
TOMORROW IS THE 1ST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE
Neoteric Verve posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm not scared (as I mentioned before) but I can't sleep. Anxious like a kid on Christmas Eve. Today I'm on full Clear liquids. I am imposing NPO orders on myself after 6pm today and not midnight. I'm mentally getting ready for L.A.S. = Life After Sleeve. This has been a loooooong journey. Three or six months is nothing compared to being overweight for 25 years. I'm finally ready. At 36 I am ready to break up with fat and find another body to get involved with. I've been up a while listening to Killswitch Engage to calm down. People say often that they can't wait. I could but why the HE** should I, LOL? Friday is near. I feel like the person who's next in line at the bank. I really want to take this opportunity to thank everyone here at VST for their advice, kind words and inspiration. I honestly believe without this site I never would have gone this far with the Sleeve. I would have nixed the idea and tried another fad diet. I would lose maybe 40lb and gain back 60. Push myself deeper into an abyss and try yet another diet. Thanks everyone. I'm gonna read through posts on here to learn and gain more knowledge. See y'all on the "Loser's Bench"!!!!!!!!!!!! N2B8R -
Insurance... Does anyone have medicaid?
SASHA-RAQ replied to tigerlily14's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes Oct.29 2013 . My 1st month was horrible, due to hematoma from chronic cough right after surgery. It took a little over a month for it to dissolve, so painful. I would do natural childbirth over that any day! But even though I endured that pain I do NOT regret my decision! You will be so happy your WORLD changes...every aspect mark my words you will be ecstatic! Like every surgery there may be a few weeks of depression after prepare, but you may not experience this just keep it in mind and trust in the process. -
Sooooo excited this week is going to change my life. Getting ready to go in for my pre-op today and register at the hospital for friday. Anybody from Texas???

I take them at night so I can sleep comfy. I have to say I am not hungry but I miss food. At moments I regret my decision but I know it's just my emotions getting the best of me I still walk nice and slow but I am moving. I still can't get that Protein in but each day I have been getting in a little more I have lost a totally of 20 pounds counting the weight I lost the week before the surgery Many thanks yous and blessings to everyone that has helped me get through this rough first week!!

I had my procedure on October 4th. My pre-op weight was 284. It will be six months since my surgery and I am now 224. However, this last month it seems as though I only lost maybe 2 or 4 lbs. I joined a gym last week and went 4 times. I have started walking, I eat/drink as much protein as I can and dring plenty of water. I need a jump start to continue the weight loss. I wanted to have reached my goal of 180 lbs by May; but if the weight doesn't start to come off again, I am afraid that I won't make it. Can someone suggest something.

I have had those stalls a lot along the way. It sounds like you are doing everything right. When the weight stops falling off try to remember that it's your body adjusting to everything. Keep measuring your inches, because when you are working out you may be replacing fat with muscle and muscle takes up less space...and looks much better so the scale might not be moving, but that doesn't mean you aren't getting smaller. I know that right now I weigh 170 and can fit a size 9-14... And the last time I weighed 170 I didn't work out at all...and I was in a size 14-16 then. Working out makes a lot of difference! Keep smiling! You will get there!

I follow the soft foods meal plan (stage 3), but I get hungry. One to two ounces of turkey doesn't cut it, even if it's followed by 1/4 cup of yogurt. And the "slice" of pear? I had a whole nectarine and was not uncomfortable. I'm finding myself reaching for a Protein shake or low fat string cheese to tide me over between meals. I know I'm not supposed to snack. Anyone else have this problem? Also, I'm on my 7th day of a stall. I am exercising and drinking my Water and taking Vitamins.

Psych Eval today
greensleeve replied to urban*decay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had three! The first two were with the same guy a year apart. He barely asked me anything, he asked how long I had been overweight, why I wanted surgery, what my highest level of education was, how long I had considered surgery. He asked me how many diets I had tried. He asked about psychological problems and that was it. My third was with my surgeon office I ended up with. It was a two hour session. She told me at the beginning the only things that would make her deny me other unresolved addictions, suicidal thoughts or severe depression unrelated to weight. She really made me think and gave me a lot of good information too. It was like therapy. Good luck! -
Cool, I am going to keep an eye out for it. I plan on starting to replace 1 meal by the end of the week and then replacing 2 meals in January. It is amazing how this surgery helped boost my motivation to lose weight before going under the knife. I think its because we know that there is a great chance that we weill not regain this time around.

Wow, I haven't updated this thing in awhile. Things are moving right along. i started liquids on Saturday mostly because I just got tired of eating. Has been going great so far, except a few times a night when I get snacky but I push through it with some broth or a protein shake. I have Atkins shakes, Muscle Milk lite, and I have some packets of Protein powder from AboutTime cause those are the only peanut butter flavored shakes I can find. They are pretty good. Not like smoothie king but they don't taste like chalk, so I guess that is good. I weighed in at 255.4 on Saturday and today I am 252.6. Getting back under 250 is a huge priority. I notice the difference in my knees, especially once I get over 250. I should be out of the 250's in a few days and then working my way thru the 240s. I have hope that I will be in the 230's when I head to Mexico. Everything else is going fine, except I've left a million things till the last minute. This week and next weekend are going to be full of prepping my house for Postop + my parent's visit. Busy busy! Will make the time fly right by!

@@iKarma1408 First of all congrats on your 38 lbs victory. I know how hard it is to lose even 1 lb. In my case (before the surgery), if I lost 1 lb this week, next week I will end up gaining 2 lbs. I know what you mean when you say not telling people. I am one month out of the surgery and there are only 3 people who know about it - my husband, mom and sister (my doctor and my friends out here on this website). The only disappointing thing is when I meet my sister. She totally makes me feel bad by saying she sees no difference in me. I've lost close to 20 pounds from the liquid stage until now. I am a major case of PCOS and had taken all the incorrect drugs for about a decade and finally made a decision of doing the surgery for improving my health. Losing 20 pounds may be smaller for many, but not for me and I am very happy for what I have achieved. I am happy to add you to my buddy list . Stay strong, stay happy and stay positive. All the very best for your surgery . Regards, TJ

Insurance Approval
txsrooster replied to ladycharizar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 4th appointment I had gained 3lbs from the 3rd appointment. You would have thought I kicked her kitten. I got a lecture and the "so disappointed" talk and she is making me come in again in 2 weeks for an additional visit to make sure I am mentally ready to start a new life style diet. [emoji42]. Or maybe she has a crush on me who knows. I did go ahead and schedule both my 5th and 6th appointments so hopefully early July will be submitting to insurance and fingers crossed, surgery a short time after. Looking like no food funerals for me. [emoji26] Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using BariatricPal mobile app -
How Many weeks out are you? I would even try taking one bite and wait about 5 min. My first "soft" foods was nearly the first time I vomited and ate less than 3 oz. good luck!!!

Wedding dress

I just got married and bought my dress one week before the wedding and had alterations done just one week before!! I would hold off to at least one month before your wedding!! -
I am one week post op. Feeling ok. I am on a liquid diet for the first 2 weeks. Some days a struggle to get in all 64 ounces. Few questions: anyone get chest pains when they burp or hiccup? I can take one sip of water then hiccup and get a tightness in my chest? Is that normal? Also is anyone terrified to start "eating" again?! How do you deal with that? One last thing, I am zapped from energy. Good thing I am off work for 2 weeks! I get a 30 min walk in daily and some house stuff, grocery shopping and I am done! Feel like I have no energy! Does that get better as my body adjusts?! Thank you everyone! I appreciate your insight!!
-
Stay the course- following the diet as directed by your dietician or surgeon, and the scale will move on its own. The three week stall is just your body's way of adjusting. Too early to require changes in diet. The cool thing is that even though the scale gets stubborn at 3 or 4 weeks, your body is still transforming, for the better. If you take your waist measurements at the beginning and end of the dreaded stall, you will see a change. Your pants are going to be a little looser, despite the same wight. hang in there! We've all been there and came out great!! (I understand the frustration. My stall at 3 weeks was about a week or so).

Hoping They Dont Postpone My Surgery
D1NOnlySexyLady posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So today after speaking to my NUT she told me that what I was eating as my two week pre op diet was all wrong and that I should be having the Bariatric Advantage meal replacement shakes. But my surgery is on May 1st and there is no way I can have it deliver at a reasonable time. Anyways after reading some of the topics I asked her if I can use Body Fortress and she mention that while it's not her first choice she's not completely against it. So now I'm just worried is there any way that they can stop my surgery because I did'nt do as I was told. I have been waiting so long for this surgery and I wouldn't want for it to be cancel. Hopefully someone can share their experience so I know I'm not alone here. -
New to forum and interested in getting band
Vicki J replied to Nikki07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It doesn't surprise me that it can take 9 months to a year. From what I've heard the processes are different between the two. When they told me 3 to 6 months I thought they had to be being careful about getting people's hopes up. I didn't even hear about my next appointments for 4 or 5 weeks after orientation. Then they were 4 weeks away.
