  1. I got weepy as well around day 4. I couldn't understand what was wrong with me. I would cry for no reason. I got fed up with myself...LOL! It got better by day 8. I am now at day 12 and pretty stable again.
  2. I was told that it did not. Of course, I was also told a sleep study was a cosmetic procedure . And they wonder why people HATE insurance companies......... Best of luck with your BC/BS IL fight.

    Terrified!

I'm 6 months post op and I didn't vomit right off, it took me 5 months to experience it. It was my fault and not my doctor or the band bc I either ate right after drinking or vice versus. At 4.5 filled, I was still able to eat Krispy Kreme doughnuts and 6" subs from subway & I gained 12lbs bk.:-( Now I just got another fill and I'm feeling more restricted and I love it bc I'm eager to lose weight and make better decisions about what I enter into my body. My starting weight was 325lbs I got down to 275 & now I'm 284 & I'm DETERMINDED to lose more & keep it off. Good luck & blessings to us all (banders) to stay strong and defeat the fat monster.

    Crazy Family & Inlaw stories

When my older brother was 17, The Momster was in one of her usual rages. He'd had enough, so he grabbed her, picked her up, and put her outside. That was the day I realized he'd grown up and wasn't going to take her BS anymore. It was a very defining and triumphant moment. I always hated my abusive brother, but that day I thought he was so cool! Our family never used fists but there was quite a bit of physical "pinning down" during insane blow ups. One time my brother used the hose and sprayed down all of them (Momster, her paranoid schizophrenic sister, and our 90 year-old uncle.) My older brother is just as screwed up with greed disorder (he stole everyone's inheritance and over a million in family property and is still under investigation.) My brother steals from his rich relatives, and then hoses them down.

    BlueCross/BlueShield Anthem???

I have BC/BS Anthem from Virginia. They covered it and the fills. I paid around a $1,000 bucks or so out of pocket. You can get the hospital to set up a payment plan if necessary. You need to call your benefit coordinator at BS/BS Anthem in your state and check. Good Luck

    22 And 3Rd Surgery

Before surgery I lost 30 lbs bc of this shot called victoza, for slightly high blood sugar. I haven't weighed myself since I left the hospital 3/5. My post op is 3/13 so I will know then. My goal would be 140lbs I would like to get smaller than I did with the lab-band. I didn't get my 60g today ill try again tomorrow. I'm so sick of the feeling of gas. Does that go away soon. I would like to weigh 160-180lbs. I want to eat so bad. What foods are you eating now. How long did you stay on the liquids. I feel 6 weeks is torture. You are doing great with your weight loss. I hope to follow in your footsteps.
  9. I have BCBS Fed and my primary care MD had pleanty of weights!!!

So Upset.......please Need Advice And Input!

That is fine..we all have our differences, I know what I have just been through and actually have paperwork to prove what I am saying. You actually can call the NH State Board of Insurance and they will tell you that Anthem BC/BS of NH maybe liscenced but are not regulated. This was not meant to cause disagreements but to try and helper understand that no matter the reasons, do not let the insurance company make you feel like giving up. Bottom we are all here to help each other through the struggles tears and anger we feel when insurnace companies turn our worlds upside down. Would you not agree?

Omgawsh!! Ive not had surgery yet BUT if I get denied, ima b p***off!! Lol. And here I am thinking I'm getting sleeved for better health, um, I'm now adding what u said to my list:D. But to answer ur question...I believe ur feeling it deeper IS bc uve probably loss more in the belly region, which probably hindered u from feeling his um, 'full potential' b4. Now that that cushion btwn u two are gone, he's able to satisfy you better. Awesome results to say the least;)
  12. Good morning, I am 26 years old, and I am 10 weeks out from surgery. I have been considering bypass since I was 18, and I kept getting sucked into the stories they were telling me. "Your too young" "you really don't have that much weight to lose" "if you just ate less and exercised more..." For years I fed into this, I would extreme diet. I started going Crossfit 6 days a week for 5 years and I gained a ton of muscle, but never lost any fat. So last year I asked myself what I want, and it was to be able to live my life healthy and worry free. To be able to work out because I love it, not because I'm afraid of gaining 1 pound! So I had surgery December 1, 2015. My very first surgery ever, and it's been challenging, but a super fun experience! I have lost 43 lbs. I am sleeping better, and feeling energized for life! I've been doing yoga 5 days a week, and figuring out what my body likes and doesn't like. I've been experiencing ever changing taste buds, some days I like something, some days it makes me want to gagg! Anyhow, thanks for the encouragement, and community! ????????
  13. Been MIA for a while, I"ll try not to make this too long. Had my surgery April 2008, so coming up on two years this april. I started out at 278, got down to 248, and I am currently at 264, I've had 3 fills, def. noticed a difference after the third fill which was beginning of November, I'm going back Jan. 14, because I feel restriction, but it's more like onlt if I eat too fast or don't chew enough, I don't know if I'm feeling "full" if that make sense? For those of you that have lost a good amount of weight, and feel like you have good restriction, could you eat a 6" turkey sub from subway? Because I can, so do I have good restriction? This is where I am so confused bc my doc says thats ok and thats an ok food choice. He's says he's nt gng to fill me to where I can only eat a few bites aalso have to make better food choices. I GET THAT! But I might of as well of joined weight watchers then! I did the band so that I could still eat what I wanted in moderation, even in bite size portions, am I totally off base here? Because if I am, someone put me in my place. I know I have to make good food choices, but i wanna be able to indulge a little bit, thats why i didn't do bypass. I feel like someone who has had great success with the band and who has good restriction, would tell me no way in hell could they eat a 6" subway sub. I'm getting so frustrated I've about given up. I have a very physically demanding job 40 hours a week and that doesn't even make a difference, i don't get it. Please someone help me I'm desperate here. Thanks guys....
  14. I had RNY on 7/15. I've lost 35 prior & 17 since. I'm doing great with vitamins & protein drinks. I'm doing okay with foods(can't eat as much as recommended bc I'm full or no appetite). But I am struggling to drink all my other fluids each day! How are you getting your fluids in? #frustrated

    Skinny time!!!!!

It is very common for obese people to not know what true hunger is. It's very common, haven't you seen people post on various boards asking what hunger feels like? We always fed head hunger before stomach hunger was able to kick in. Air in your stomach/intestines isn't hunger, it's air. Hunger is a feeling, almost a bit painful. Hunger is a sensation, air is... well, air.
  17. Liv, you just can't do this to yourself. We didn't get fat overnight, and we can't lose it all overnight. Yes, I know I dropped weight fast, but that doesn't mean I was always happy with the scale. When I had to slow down my loss, honestly, I was kind of pissed when I quit losing so quickly. You hit the 3 week stall, 95-99% of WLS hit that same stall, and it last a minimum of 2 weeks. Like I said, take measurements, do you feel like your clothes are fitting differently? If you aren't sure, go put on the clothes you wore home from the hospital, and I'll bet you money they are looser? If you are following your dietary guidelines, and exercising, then you will lose. If you are low on calories, throw in a couple of string cheeses, toss in another 50-100 calories ESPECIALLY if you are working out. Every time someone stalls I tell them the same thing, keep doing what you are doing, but throw a wrench in the system. shake things up for your body, and give it a little more fuel. You've dropped 25lbs in 5 weeks, right? When in the past can you say that you've ever done that before. I know it took me a minimum of 2-3 months to drop 25lbs, and that was extreme dieting, and killing myself at the gym. Don't give up on yourself, and don't give up on your sleeve. This stall you are experiencing is super normal, it will break, and try to remember you're body is just now healing 100% on the inside. It's trying to adjust to what you just did to it, essentially, it's pissed off at you. You took away a huge part of a major organ, you fed it a bunch of liquidy crap for a couple of weeks, it's missing the donuts, and soda (or whatever you ate, just using those as an example), it went through a traumatic surgery, anesthesia, stapling, poking and prodding. Let your body recover, let your mind rest, and give yourself some credit for your amazing results this far. If you continue on this pace with 5lbs a week on average, think of how quick you'll get to goal.

    Blacking Out?

While RH is classically a bypass thing, owing to rapid stomach emptying from the lack of pyloric valve, it is not unknown with the sleeve, too, as rapid emptying can happen due to the reduced stomach size and with slider foods (such as ice cream) that don't trigger the valve to close, particularly if they are eaten by themselves and not with something else more dense. If I need something overnight, I usually have a piece of cheese or a protein bar to satisfy things. Having a glucose meter handy is nice, as you can test things next time you have one of those bars - check your BS after maybe a half hour, hour and two hours to see how your body reacts to it. That will tell you for sure whether that is the problem. Orthostatic hypotension is also possible, though I would expect that you would have seen evidence of it (light headedness when standing from a bed or chair) before this, as it will start to happen when we start losing weight rapidly and the cardio system is trying to adjust
  19. Yeah moving and surgery won't mix well! Mine SHOULD be in December provided everything goes well- I am having to do the 6 month medically managed diet and my last appointment is in November- I only have my psych evaluation and sleep study left. All bc I said I wake up tired - ugh! I know I don't have sleep apnea - but that's ok! Excited to watch your progress!!

Thats who I thought it was, but I didn't realize she was a writer, but I hardley remember the golden girls, except Rose, just bc my mom used to call me that because I tend to zone out.

    Low fat deserts..

I bet the Sahara is low fat, since it's not in the over-fed U.S. (Sorry, couldn't resist). One of the best ideas I've heard is putting protein shakes into an ice cream maker. Eggface has some excellent recipes for those. I love slicing up an apple, putting a bit of cinnamon on it, and nuking it (microwave) for a couple minutes.

    Cancelling Lap band

Is the $3500 part of the surgical fee, or is it one of those BS "program" fees? If so, then no, that is NEVER covered by insurance. And that's why I didn't choose two of the three providers my ins co paid for me to go to. I think it is WRONG on sooooo many levels for these bariatric surgeons to charge "program" fees and "mandatory support group" fees. I never had to pay a "program" fee to my cardiologist and I certainly have called or seen their staff a damn site more that I will likely ever see my surgeon's staff.
  24. why are you posting things like this? let mature people decide to have wls and deal with what happens this sounds very familiar to a former ms maui person who posted BS like this just to start trouble...and this is exactly what you are doing..
  25. Husband and I are flying out tomorrow! Making a last run to walmart today and spending time with my babies. Have a 3 hour drive to Atl airport, 3 hour flight to texas, and then will be picked up and taken to Juarez hospital. My emotions are running the gambit right now! So much so that I don't even know if that last sentence is correct in any way! Haha! Just please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Taking our laptop so I hope to be able to post updates as they have wifi in the hosptial. I don't think my phone is going to work bc we are pre-paid (not on a plan) and it doesn't work out of country.
