  1. Unfortunately, i dont think i am. I am getting better but i am definitely nowhere near 64 fluid ounces and 60-80grams of protein daily:( Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Is it a hunger growl? Are you satisfied/full when you eat? Increasing fluids is hard but it helps with healing and weight loss. Do your best to try to get your fluids up. Try different fluids. I like the crystal light fruit punch. Also no sugar added hot chocolate. I add it to 10-12oz instead of the 6oz of Water the box calls for. It helps put me at my fluids goal. Somethings i can drink quickly others not so much. How much protein are you able to get? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App
  2. You gotta walk through the door or you will never know what is on the other side. My surgeon gives all his patients a journal - a way to track food, weight loss, exercise, vitamins, etc. On the front it says," As I'm getting smaller, my world is getting bigger." I never really understood it until I lost about 50-60 pounds and could be more mobile and pain free. Now my world can't be big enough! I feel no limits - only by my own mind. I believe I could hike the Grand Canyon now, or ride in the 100 + mile El Tour de Tucson (bike), or hike the 830 mile Arizona Trail, or take flying lessons. Or kayak without swamping the boat, or get on and off the floor with my grandkids, or walk up hills without being winded, or ride my mule, or buy SMALL size tops and size 12 pants. It's an unbelievable world right now for me - a world I would never know without walking through that door, scared as I was (crying in preop, wondering if I should just get up and leave.) Surgery has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is a whole new life!!!!!! A life I never thought I would see again. Yes, there can be complications (I got a blood clot in my leg), and yes, recovery is a bear. But there is a whole new world waiting for you on the other side of that door.
  3. You said you don't feel like you've lost any weight at all. How much have you lost?
  4. My starting weight is 286. I had surgery on Sep 16. The first 2-3 weeks I lost 30 lbs. Ever since I have been only losing if I'm lucky 1-2 lbs. What gives man. Am I doing something wrong? I only eat 3 times a. Day and its all meat and cheese.
  5. 60lbs since surgery, 75lbs since the pre-op. I wanted to lose about 108lbs from my pre-op or 100lbs from surgery. So about 60% weight loss which is considered the average for this surgery in the final count. If I get to 80%, I will be happy and consider myself at goal as I will be under a BMI of 30 and that is the "goal" for my doctors.
  6. Oh man. You are not alone. I'm newly divorced and hoping that once I've lost the weight I'll have to confidence to move on. Every one tells me to find my happiness and then happiness with someone else will come along. Don't give up!! It'll happen when you least expect it I'm sure. Just focus on your health and happiness and relax!! I'm sure he'll come along. Hang in there!

    Struggling so much emotionally

Unfortunately, losing weight will not guarantee easier relationships, some may say it will bring about the opposite. It might make starting one "easier" in the sense that we are more confident and put ourselves out there than before we were heavier. If you think it's insecurities and what you deem flaws than maybe take some you time. Focus on what you want to change. And, I agree with Kate here, when you are happier with yourself you will find that you will be more content in life. We can't be a good partner to anyone if we are not happy with ourselves. Just because you may be getting more attention now, doesn't mean that it's the perfect time for you to dive into a full blown relationship. Iv'e always found that the best relationships I've been in started when I wasn't actively looking for them. It also could be you are less willing to accept major flaws in others and will move on a little quicker. In the meantime, enjoy getting out there, it will happen. Good luck .
  8. Worry not! Your weight loss will slow to a more 'normal' pace after your initial large losses at first. The weight always comes off fast at first, then usually your body puts the brakes on in the form of a stall, then the losses even out a bit. It's actually pretty rare for people to lose 'too much weight'. Most of the complaints are they can't seem to get the remaining 10-20 off the closer they are to goal. You'll be just fine Good job!
  9. I had the band 5 yrs ago, I am 5’4 my starting weight 205, I lost 50 pounds…. Band slipped this summer and had to be removed, started to gain the weight back, and got up to 180. Had the sleeve 2 weeks ago. I have already lost 18 pounds. This so different than the band, I don’t feel hungry at all. I am a afraid I am going to lose to much weight
  10. hi, this isnt brought up as a criticism of anyone. it happens to unbanded people in fact it is why i want one in part, regaining weight. hitting your goal, something in your life changes and we start gaining again. what surprises me is reading about people who are banded that get an unfill and report gaining quickly 20-30 lbs or more. the apprehension i have a week or so out from getting my band is ridiculous, i'm not only afraid i'll overeat and damage the band but the really disturbing thought is i'll miss being able to over eat. i should mention the flip side of that thought is liberating, being free of that sick feeling and life revolving around food. so, with the band do habits really change, do some of us too easily revert to overeating when restriction is removed or is there a long term change to metabolism that results in weight gain if we return to eating normal amount of calories?
  11. you're in a stall. Almost everyone has their first stall during the first month or so after surgery. I had mine during weeks 2 and 3. It finally broke during week 4, and I dropped like 6-8 lbs practically overnight. Do a search on "three week stall" - it happens to almost everyone! You are fine - stop worrying! I started out where you are weight-wise, and I lost 16 lbs the first month. I thought I was never going to lose weight, but I lost over 200 lbs! Stick to your program and the weight WILL come off! Your surgeon is going to be delighted with your loss so far!
  12. Hi @GradyCat okay sooo I’ve just stepped on the scales again and it’s gone from 116.7 to 116.9 Kg. On the edge of a breakdown! How do I control this weight gain is it normal because I am seriously not even eating unhealthy or anything !
  13. Okay so I’m pretty sure everyone has a stall between weeks 2-4. Mine happened at 12 days post surgery and lasted almost 3 weeks. So here’s how it went: I lost 22 pounds in the first 12 days, then I lost 1.8 pounds over the next 20 days. There were a couple of times in that 20 days where I gained a 0.5-1 pound, then lose it, then regain. After week 5, I started losing again at the rate of 2.5 pounds/week average and 10 days ago I hit my 3 month stall (I was sleeved on 2-6-19). This time I’ve put the scale away and refuse to step on it for at least another week or two. Oh and during these last 10 days when I’ve lost zero weight I’ve managed to fit into a pair of pants that were really tight on me at the end of April so I’m not panicking. The weight will continue to fall off and the scale will continue to move down accordingly
  14. If you don't get an adequate answer from your PCP, I would suggest seeing a sports med doc, (especially if you are active). They will likely do x-rays to make sure you don't have a mechanical problem and may offer PT or exercises to counter the issue. I say that as someone with hip displasia, (presented 20 years ago, but is degenerative to the cartilage and has caught up with me, even with the weight loss). I needed help designing an exercise routine that challenges me without exacerbating the damage. And yes! Hard surfaces are MUCH harder now!
  15. I finally have the green light to eat pureed and soft foods but I'm really struggling. Anything I eat - outside of Protein Drinks - I throw up. I thought maybe I was eating too much or maybe too fast so I weighted out 2 oz of rotisserie chicken and pulsed it in my Ninja. I took 10 minutes to eat it. Still no go. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions on things to try? Is this normal?

    Milestone

Well, I haven't been on the site for a long time and thought to check in. So far i have lost 83 lbs. I am in a state that I don't know where to buy clothes. I go to the plus size section out of habit and can't find anything. Then I go to the junior section and I am baffled about how I can now fit into a large or xl in junior size. Amazing?! I am now running on the treadmill which has shaped the body nicely so far. Also I have been doing weights: leg presses and shoulder lifts.
  17. well i have had fill and was so scared but was really surprized how simple it was and even though i really don't feel any restriction and still eating as usual and no weight loss , i am not going to let this get to me i know i just need another fill to get this right. i would rather have to little than too much, i wish i could tell you guys on how much weight i have lost but pray that once i get this fill stage right i will be on my way also. i had a large fill compared to others i had 2.6 cc and know i need more but i had that strange feeling of fullness when it was being done , so i know its in there and the feeling i will get when i get enough fill , i had the fill and went in to the doctor right on lunch time my tummy was growling with hunger as i hadn't eaten lunch yet and it completely stopped after my fill. (freaky) i was so glad just to know that my band was in there and the fill made a difference . i know it is trial and error and i would rather have to little than too much so i will return soon for fill 2 and hope this fill will stop me eating as much, i will let you know any results soon hopefully i will join all of you that tell your stories of how much you have lost !!
  18. The hot chocolate is probably fine. But Peanut Butter,, nope, it is very, very high in calories and sugar. Not worth it. I really would not mess with peanut butter at all during your weight loss phase. There is a product called PB2. Its a powdered peanut butter that you add Water and stir. For me it satisfied the peanut butter crave and has a fraction of the calories. I get mine at walmart. If you prepared it with a little extra water, small bites of this would probably be ok on full liquids.
  19. HW 253 CW 196. I'm so happy is been such a while since the scale stood at the hundreds when I went on top of it. I love the fact that I got this surgery done every where I go I tell people my story so they 2 can do something about there weight. I can now run around with my one year old and tire him out. I love my new life can't wait to keep shedding these pounds off.
  20. You still have the band and it is still working, but the only thing that can ruin your operation is getting it removed. The operation is a physical thing and is going to stay there. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight If you eat less calories than you burn, you will loose it. Shakes and Icecream and stuff that is soft and high calorie goes right through your band. If you eat good fish, or other good protien, it has more solid form and you can "pack" your pouch and little by little it goes through and gets digested. You feel full much longer, but if you drink while you eat, you rilnse it right through. You need to cooperate with the mechanics of the band, it is a tool, it doesnt strain our calories, it just makes it harder for you to continue to eat large portions. A shake or pudding or mushie cakes are just not going to give you the good nutrition you need to be healthy. Once in a while, we all eat something wrong, but it is a lot easier to get back with the program. Your band will remain, you can return to your good habits and continue to loose pounds. It wont ruin your operation.
  21. Gabi, it just shows that the band is a tool. It will not lose the weight for us, it will "help" us. However, we have to do our part and make wiser choices. If we drink milkshakes all day long, there is no way we will lose weight. If we have a milkshake every now and then, just on special occaions, it won't hurt us. But we just need to remember that we need to make right choices the majority of the time. You've done great so far!
  22. Ugh today I'm getting a sharp pain in my lower back on the right side. Wondering if its from my weight shifting around?
  23. Looking for some help. Got a fill approximately 2 weeks ago on 1-17. Last friday i began to get some back pain that radiated to my left ribs, above my port. I do not have my gallbladder. I know there is a possibility of it being cramps or gas because it does come and go but i am also worried something could be wrong with my band. I have been able to eat normal size lap band servings. Could my port be moving due to weight loss? Any other ideas? Thanks ahead of time!

    Low libido HELP!

I had a hysterectomy last year, but kept my ovaries since they were producing the right amount of hormones. I dont' know if you still have yours, but as mentioned I would get my hormone level checked. I know Gabapentin can be used for psych meds too and I personally know those can cause libido to drop. I don't know the side effects of the Gabapentin but with weight loss your system can absorb medicines different. My sex drive goes up and down, but my Dr's are messing with my psych meds. After I take them a while, it goes back up. And since we are talking intimate here, I have had issues with getting wet as well. I feel excited and if I touch myself or when my hubby touches me, it shocks me to know I don't have the wetness I thought I would. I am scheduled to see my ob/gyn on the 1st for my yearly, so now we've been discussing this, I will mention it to him
