Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

I haven't posted lately because I haven't had any NSV's until today. As I was walking down to the kitchen to put my lunch in the fridge, a co-worker from a different dept who I really don't speak to all that much stopped me and said that she noticed I was losing weight and that I look great. -

Ok, I'm in, although I have little chance to win anything. Gee, the end of March? Hell, I have a chance to lose a whole pounds in 3 month. Geeze I really am turning into a bitter old woman. Okay, my NSVs for the week... Last night I went skiing for 3 hours. Didn't huff or puff at all, and I didn't need my puffer either. So, that puts me at 3 NSVs. Wait, make that 4 NSVs, I'm not sore from skiing yesterday. -

I'm half the man I used to be before WLS and NSVs on recent holiday
omrhsn posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just came back from a short trip to Langkawi Island here in Malaysia with my wife and kids. This is my wife and I second visit after going there in 2013 for our honeymoon (time flies!). We all had a great time there specially my kids. The weather was nice and the island was not very crowded. I got to try a lot of things that I've never dared or was able to do before WLS. The trip was full of NSVs so I wanted to share some of those with you guys. 1. I didn't need a seat belt extension this time and had plenty of room in my seat! I was able to use the food tray without it pushing against my belly. 2. I tried parasailing (parachute on a boat), banana boat and even jet skiing for the first time in my life 3. I joined my wife and kids in playing all the rides and games in the water theme park. I was always the guy standing out of the pool cheering while my wife and kids were having fun. Not this time. My son was so happy that daddy was with him on the big water slide. Some of the rides had a weight limit of 80 kg (they even have a scale to weigh people who are close to that weight - I was not asked to hop on the scale haha). Climbing the stairs to the ride starting point would have given me a heart attack before WLS let alone sliding down. 4. We took a speed boat for island hopping which was awesome. In one of the islands we had to climb the stairs up to a beautiful lake (Unlike my first visit I was fine and not out of breath while carrying my bag and my daughter). We rented pedal boats and circled around the lake for 30 mins which was awesome. 5. We took some photos at the resort that we stayed in during our honeymoon 10 years ago. Left photo was taken in August 2013 and right one three days ago. This was also my first time ever wearing shorts in public and being at ease with it. Guess who bought 4 more shorts haha. The cherry on the cake was weighing myself after returning home to find that I've lost half of my weight on surgery day. A total of 74.5 kg lost which is my wife and daughter's weight combined! -
Congrats on your NSV!! I have never heard of the FAR Infrared Sauna, what is it and what does it do?

Oh! for my NSV I wore some new jeans that were NOT from the womens department . . . . no W or X on them anywhere!

Check them out if you have a Nordstrom by you. they were size 18 in the regular womens department, stretch material, five pocket jeans by Amber sun. I bought them in black on clearance so I don't remember the price but they are the most comfortable pair of jeans I've ever had on. They don't bind anywhere! Check them out especially if you are tall cuz they have long legs. My husband even said my butt looked small in them!!

Major NSV today. I need a swimsuit for lymphoedema physical therapy and was SO dreading going to try and buy one. However, once I got there, I loved the very first one I tried! First I took a size 16 top and a 14 bottom in and I almost bought it! Then I thought I may as well try a 14 top. Then I went and got a 12 bottom and finally a 12 top! My head is having a hard time catching up to my body (image). I went for a pricier Land's End suit (which adds another level of accountability), tankini top with the little skirt, and I just love the color. I honestly thought I might run out of the dressing room crying, but I just floated out...and I can't wait to wear it! Here's a link: Women's Solid Faille Lingerie Swim Top from Lands' End Thanks for listening. :-)

Morning! Maureen, how kind of your neighboor to say something about your weight loss! That must have been such a big encouragement! Hi Michelle, Don't get discouraged, just think, 30lb! That is wonderful. It is nice to wake up each morning and not have to squeeze into your cloths! I love the fact that I am getting to wear cloths that I havn't worn in so long. I slipped on a tank top this morning and needed something to wear over it for work...usually I would grab like a button down blouse to wear over it. This morning I grabbed one of my old real thin suit jackets and it slipped right on. It's even back in style after like ten years! These little NSV's really make my day. I just can't believe it. I am really going to be skinny. I am sure that we are all going to have to learn how to deal with the attention. I have noticed that men are actually greeting me now..yesterday..a sheriff that was sitting in the hall gaurding a patient winked at me and smiled real big. I am not used to that. So it will take some getting used to. One day soon there will be no fat to dissapear behind. Well, yesterday I had breakfast and lunch with no problem. I barfed my guts up trying to eat dinner. I tried three different things. I really did PB about 6 times. I am still feeling shakey and afraid to eat breakfast. It has been 2 wks since my fill and it does seem to really kick in after 2 wks for me. I am going to stick to soup today. I really was miserable last night. Well, blessings all! Weazer

Don't you wish Docs would spend a little more time listening to us, don't we know our bodies the best. I'd be frustrated too! A little just in time NSV...I was feeling a little down today. We were out of town this weekend and I ate pretty poorly (late night pizza & cookies etc...) The scale showed it this AM, my own fault, but still frustrating how hard we have to work for every pound now. Well, I'm at work, feeling bloated, and the mailman comes in and says "if you loose one more pound you'll blow away". No one around here has said one word about my weightloss (100#"s!). I work with all guys, and I think they are just scared to say anything about a girls weight (I guess that might be wise), how can you not notice!?! Anyway, Willie noticed...he's so sweet, I look forward to our 15 second converations! Sue

Hey Lizrbit - You are doing so great!!! all I can say is WOW!! Melissa - I am so sorry to hear about the tuff time your DH is having. It is so hard when the ones we love are struggling. You are in my toughts and prayers. I have not seen Sandra around here lately... HEY Sandra if you are lurking let us know how you and that baby are doing. We miss you!!! As I shared earlier I have been having reflux and heartburn problems lately. I went to the Doc last Friday, and he unfilled me, only left in 1/2 cc. All of the problems went away. He wants me to stay this way for about a month and let things calm down and then slowly refill me. Went on a motorcyle ride this weekend to Ashville,NC with a group of our friends, I did pretty good. Tried to eat alot of fruit and salads and drink lots of water. Have not been able to eat salads for a long time, so I enjoyed it. I still have some restriction, so I am trying to make good choices. It has just been wonderful to get a good nights rest and not wake up with acid in my mouth. Being overfilled is just not good! OH, NSV..... I needed a jacket to wear on the bike, and we stopped at this shop, I picked out this one I liked, got a size large to try on...... my DH looked at me and said "Honey, when are you going to see that you are no longer a large?", he then handed me a small..... yes I said size SMALL..... and it fit me perfect. My DH then looke at me and said "SEE, I told you so!" I never dreamed I would wear a size small. Of course I had to buy the jacket....... Oh, on a diffrent note, I have a grandbaby due this week. I am so very excited. It is a boy. He is due May 28th (my moms birthday)..... so we are on baby watch. She goes to the Doc today for a checkup, so we will know more of when to expect Ian Kenneth will be showing up. Hope eveyone had a great Memorial Day Holiday. Take it one day at a time, Laura

February 2024 Surgery Buddies?
NickelChip replied to NickelChip's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@BlueParis you're looking great! I'm impressed you can stand in those shoes. I think I would end up in the hospital if I tried. And congrats on finally getting below that magical 70kg marker. I'm happy to report that after 7 weeks of very pokey weight loss in which I only lost 4 lbs total and stalled out completely for 2 of those weeks, I have now dropped 4 lbs in 4 days. I cannot begin to express how relieved I am. I know it will slow again soon enough as a pound a day isn't sustainable, but I plan to enjoy it as long as it lasts. NSV for me this week! So, I had gotten down to around 205 lbs back in 2017 through my hospital's nutrition program. Naturally, I bought some clothing back then, though unfortunately I regained steadily over the years. Because I had moved house 4 years ago, I purged most everything in my closet. This included almost all the smaller clothing, plus the remnants of my old "professional" wardrobe that was also in smaller sizes from a good 20 years ago. (I should say, I don't regret that too much as the clothing was way out of style and I never have cause to wear suits these days anyway.) But I did happen to hold onto one springy sort of dress that I guess I must have thought was too nice to get rid of, just in case it ever fit again. Well, I pulled it out of the closet the other day to wear to my daughter's special event at school and not only did it fit, it was loose. I honestly struggle to see the difference when I look at myself in the mirror sometimes, but there's no denying how clothing fits, and I know this dress never fit me loose back then like it does now. -
August Rush in bandland!

Beachbunny, So glad to read your post this morning. It's two weeks post op for me today and I am the same as I was last week; however, I started on mushies this last week and I think my body is acclimating. It's always disappointing to look at the scale and see nothing, but I figure I not only lost 17 pounds over the last three weeks, I also kept it to the same number for a week! That's a first. Usually when I am done with a diet I sabotage my efforts for a good week or two and put it all back on. So I'm looking for the NSVs this week and pretty happy about maintaining....besides, doesn't that mean next week should be pretty good weight loss!? -
Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?
Yasman replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
ok, now that I know an NSV is a non-scale victory, I have one to share. Fitting comfortably with room to spare in a booth at a restaurant when the last time you went you were (your belly was) hanging over the table, all squeezed in. Separately but the same, being able to swing up and out of the booth easily and smoothly, rather than huffing your way through a 3 step process to get out. -
February 2024 Surgery Buddies?
NickelChip replied to NickelChip's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dang it! Back up to 200 today. I could see the digital scale contemplating telling me 199.8, but it decided nope. I've had days with tons of exercise. Days with no exercise. Days with over 1000 calories. Days with barely 500 calories because what I ate made me sick. None of it does anything to move the weight. I get on the scale daily because I like to see the graph as a visual. But I'd like it better if the number went down. On the bright side, my blood work all looks pretty good. A bit low in Vitamin A, zinc, and prealbumin, but so far no one has said I should change anything. @LisaCaryl I love the NSV with the jeans! What a nice surprise, even if you did get stuck wearing them to your group. I have one more week of school runs and after school activities before my kids are out for the summer. At that point, I am going to make a weekly meal plan and try out some new recipes from the bariatric cookbooks that are gathering dust because I've been too busy. I've also found a workout video to try with my pilates bar resistance band set, so that's going to happen this week, at least once. -
Salutations, My Sleeve Family, Let's kick our day off with a Spiritual Vitamin. Today it's R: REJOICE Phillipians 4:4 says for us to, " Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice! " YAYYY!!! We are doing "It!" Winning the battle against our weight issues. So we should be rejoicing today in what we have accomplished so far, and wait in anticipation to see what surprises, tomorrow may have in store for us! Keep a journal of all our "NSV" triumps, so we can have them to reflect back on, when the day doesn't seem to be our friend, and then "rejoice again", praising God for His unwavering Love and support. We've spent enough time being down, sad, and feeling sorry for ourselves. No More! Stay on course, keep moving, remembering that "time waits for no one," so make it count everyday. Rejoice, your heart will thank you later! Praying For My Family Always, Diamond45 :D

Out With the Old--In With the New!
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Happy Saturday everyone! I have an NSV to report! Thanks to the long-suffering Mr. F, we went thrifting today. It was senior day at Goodwill! Woooohooooo! Anyone over 55 gets 30% off! So I finally found some stuff!!!! Yippee! Thah crahps ah sayuved!!!! And low and behold size 18s were already loose enough on me, that I said to myself, "Self, you will spend $3-5 on these pants and get to wear them exactly 3-4 weeks before they are "pants on the ground" like the rest of your sad-monkey pants in the closet!" Sooooo I braved the 16's!!! Ha! And guess the fu*k what???? They fit! Whahhhhhh? For $25 bucks today, I got 3 pair of pants, a shirt, and a black thin cardigan to throw on at restaurants or in movies when I get chilly (which is always). It will fit me in about 10 lbs. 1 pair size 16 black pants - Jones of New York 1 pair size 16 black and white tiny print pull on cotton capris (can't remember brand, but think it's a good one) 1 pair size 16 denim jeggings by Lane Bryant's slutty sister, Ashley Stuart 1 gap batiste cotton pin tucked shirt with these cute little beads around the neckline 1 thin acrylic black cardigan. Ha!!!! OMG. I swear, I'm still way big, but I'm wearing a size 16. I completely breezed past the 18s in my magic pants! *snort* Now I can safely relinquish the big clothes in my closet at the clothing swap at the support group at the first of June! Bahahahaahaha! So dang cool. I don't even care if the jeggings make my ass look big! -

@fadstabora that is a win! Social situations can be a minefield. It must have felt really good to walk out of Wingers having made good choices@chiquitabananaz14 focus on little consistent steps...getting on the scale is up to you... don't feel defeated, you've reached out for support and it takes guts. Bravo! Not everyday is about the # on the scale we all have areas to work on to make ourselves stronger and more resilient...Just look at this thread...you started with honesty and openness and as a result we all found a place we can come for support and encouragement while we work towards our personal goals... your current choices have had a positive impact on others, that is an NSV if I've ever seen one!! Stay on your path:)
