Thanks so much for the website direction AND the vote of confidence! I'm putting myself on a pseudo-preop diet in preparation for the big day, since my surgeon doesn't require it. Surgery is two weeks from tomorrow (*nervous twinge*).

It's almost here!!!!!! I know you're excited, nervous and READY. Dr. Hart completely fills the band to test it before he puts it in and drains it. Mine had .6 cc left after the testing. That's almost nothing. But you will have some swelling so i'm not convinced it's such a great idea to do a fill at surgery. I've read too many posts from people who had to have that fill removed not long after surgery because they couldn't drink their liquid diet. My first fill was exactly 4 weeks post op and they put in 4 cc (had had to take 1 cc of that out because it was way too tight). They really aren't stingy with the fills like some docs.
I'm so excited for you! Keep in touch. I'm always glad to answer questions if I can. parr0thd51@aol.com

I saw a couple of your posts and wanted to say "hi'. I am also starting this journey with a 70 BMI and I just noticed that we were born just weeks apart. Looking forward to updates from you.

Dear Aurora:
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. This morning when I stepped on the scale I was 189.3 - didn't take a picture, but I must say that I'm amazed -- I would have killed a year ago to know that I would be a little over 50 pounds lighter. This surgery was the best thing I have done. In fact this morning, I was thinking that on prior "diets" I would have probably lost my resolve by now, or because I now look o.k. in clothes, I would have gone back to my old eating habits. Now, that's not an option for me. I'm a very slow loser compared to others on this site -- I don't know if it's my age, or what, but I am losing. I do follow, for the most part, the bandster eating rules, and I exercise like crazy (boot camp 5 days a week). I guess I am proud of myself. Good luck on your journey!

Hey! I got banded last tues... I did good on the next day. But then yesterday I felt awful! nauseous, & stuck. This morning I felt a bit better, but then when I started to drink down the liquids, I started to feel the same way as I did yesterday- stuck. Felt like there was no air in my stomach, it made me nauseous & dizzy! I called my nurse, she kept saying keep drinking - you need 64 oz of liquids a day... I cant keep drinking if I feel like throwing up
did you go thru this in ur first week?

tzn, I just read your message from July 28th. I am not too good with computers and didn't even know you could do this until I just got a private message today. To keep you updated I have now lost 125 lbs and am at goal. I had to be rebanded on Oct.29th due to a slippage. No problems with that but I have to start over with the liquids, pureed foods etc just like I have never been banded. I get the "1st" fill in another 3 to 4 weeks. Other than the post op diet, I can't tell any differences except I can get hungry which is kind of a new thing for me but it hasn't been hard. Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner.

Thanks. I'm at my doctor's goal weight for me, but I would love to be 10-15 pounds lighter. I'm hoping next year, after I get my foot fixed and can run again, maybe I'll get there. I'm having surgery this Tuesday, the 17th. I have found that running is the ONLY exercise that reshapes my body, including my stomach. As soon as I stopped running my stomach poofed back out. I did the Couch to 5K twice now, I LOVE that program. It takes a 100% NON-runner and gets you running a 5k in 9 weeks. There are a couple of podcasts out there to help you through it. I'm going to start it again after the first.
You should feel a little better after your fill. You're entering bandster hell. It's short lived, don't worry. If you have a good doctor who keeps up with your fills, you'll do great. It's all in the aftercare with the band.
Keep up the good work and keep in touch. I love to hear about your progress!

hey girl, I dont believe u caused damage. Cuz I was 1 week liquids, 1 week mushies, and 1 week normal food. Im fine so I think ur fine. Maybe u r eating 2 much or need 2 chew more. Remember the more solid the food more chew chew chew u have 2 do! Listen 2 ur body and stop right b4 ur full. Then in 20 minutes u should b full. If u keep eating untill u have the full feeling then ur over eating. and u have 2 get use to eaing solids from mushies. Best of luck =)

Oh WOW! Tomorrow is the day! Everything will be great. You'll be uncomfortable for a few days, but it's such a small amount of time in the scheme of things. Make sure you take a pillow to put across your stomach for the car ride home (and you'll like it as you sit around the house). I posted the message Nov 2nd - so I'm down 70 pounds since pre-op diet (15 was pre-op loss).
At times I don't realize I'm changing so much until I see pictures of myself. I just feel and look better and I love it. And the great thing is, I know this is permanent. Sticking with it will ensure success and my band has helped me IMMENSELY!
Best of LUCK and don't hesistate to contact me if you have any questions (even though you won't feel like a computer for 3 or 4 days
. Call your doc when you feel weird about anything at all. This is the start of something wonderful and I'm so happy for you! Take care and hope to hear from you!
