  1. Congrats Shanda! I've been reading your posts and WAITING for your scale update. It is so encouraging. Sounds like you've been doing so well, with a few small bumps in the road. Have your emotions balanced out? Good luck and looking forward to joining you on the "losers" side in a few days. I will do my best to stay off the scale for the first two weeks so I can only hope for a scale victory even if its not close to yours it will feel great!

    Recovery

I sit down most of the day, I'm a receptionist..I was planning on 2 weeks so sounds good!
  5. Wow!! That's a long pre-op diet! I was just given mine ( for two weeks) and I thought that was bad! Well I pray for you, and just hang in there! I'm day two and it already sucks!!
  6. I don't see anything wrong with it, except the recommendation for packaged meals. My surgeon has 2, 4 and 6 week pre-op diets and I guess it depends on your current health as to what one you'll need to go on.
  7. I got my date yesterday its 4/8 n im so excited cant wait. . I wanted to do it next week but they were booked already lol
  8. Hi all I just wanted to stop in and say hi. I've been lurking for a couple weeks reading your posts and getting a feel for the forum. I went to my seminar last Thursday and I am scheduled for my first consultation this upcoming Tuesday the 18th. I'm a little nervous...not too sure what to expect. But I'm very excited at the same time to hopefully get this journey started. I'm going through the Bariatric Center on NJ for the procedure so I'm not really sure how long the process should take but I'm really hoping to be banded by the end of 2013. I look forward to getting to know all of you and also hope to be able to come to you guys when I need advice or the extra push I might need to stay focused!! So here goes nothing!!!
  9. I was sleeved in November 2013. Since then I have lost 54 lbs and have had mini stalls along the way. They come and go and can be so frustrating but keep up the good work and believe me it will pass and weight will drop. My doctor said that one pound loss a week is really what they expect for having the sleeve surgery. I too thought it would shed off faster but I'm really grateful it's going gradual way!!!

    Hair Loss

Yasmina, I have experienced quite alot of hairloss. I was starting to panic about 2-3 weeks ago, it is still falling out alot but I noticed some baby hairs starting to come back. You hear alot about hairloss, I don't think you can prevent it, if it happens to you. Many say eat protein, but I don't think that helps, personally. I do know though, if you are one who experiences it, it always comes back eventually. (within the year).
  11. I had great control the first few weeks but have only had one fill and don't have any restirction so my sugars have climbed. I hope to get better control when I get good restriction.
  12. Hello, I am on the 2nd day of my two week diet. I am drinking bariatric advantage meal replacement . The doctor recommended. Is it normal to gave alot of gas and diarrhea
  13. I'm only two weeks post-op, but for some strange reason, I cannot stand the smell of homemade popcorn! I used to make it often and the smell of it never bothered me. Now I just want to puke! Can't even imagine what it will taste like once I'm off of the "soft" diet...
  14. Almost anyone who has significant weight to lose and has started a new diet loses several pounds the first week of a diet. You've been doing this for several months, so it's not surprising you didn't get that initial exciting loss. Don't feel disheartened. Good luck here on out.

New Banded and was starving day 6

I was banded on a Friday and by Sunday night I was starving...lol. I had to wait until the following Friday before I was allowed to start mushy foods. The doctor said I was probably a quick healer and thus experienced hunger sooner than others. That week felt like torture, but I made it through. At any rate, just stick with the plan. There is a reason why you are only supposed to eat soft mushy foods and that is because you are still healing. meats, etc. may not be such a great idea right now because you do not want to disrupt the healing process....not trying to sound preachy, just dont want you to disturb anything. I found that eating a scrambled egg kept me feeling full longer as well as mashed potatoes because of how dense they are. Although eating yogurt and applesauce was good, I did find myself more hungry than when I ate the other things. good luck!

    Feb18 2010 2 weeks post-op

    From the album: Peggys Journey

  19. I am one week post-op tomorrow. I am lucky enough my mom (banded in 2009) is here until the weekend. She didn't think I should mow one week out so I made her dinner. Grilled handburgers and Mac and cheese. Didnt bother me at all to make it but she felt bad making me cook when I'm on purée food. Then as she ate half her burger and her Mac and cheese, I got full on just 2 tablespoons of my puréed Mac and cheese (mixed with protein powder). Couldn't believe how little it takes to fill me up. As we cleaned up the leftovers we commented about how a few years ago we would have devoured the Mac and cheese. The little things make me happy.
  20. I'm 1 week post op and am down 10lbs I'm so happy with this new tool! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm two weeks post op and just started getting the sharp pain at my sure. Same thing you described. My dic just said it's probably a strained muscle. I'm going back to work in 2 days so I hope that's all it is.
  22. Hi - I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow and the sipping of water and chunking of food going down sounds like exactly where I am. The softer the food, the easier it is to go down. The chunkier and i know I'm only going to be able to get in a few bites before I am full. The couple of times I knew I overdid it is when I could just feel it sitting in my esophagus. So my experience has told me: small bites. slow bites. It is frustrating because as you add more foods, more "normal" foods after the liquid phase, you just want to eat! And enjoy it! I've been cooking a lot, and it's hard to cook for us sleevers in small amounts. I invested in a lot of tupperware..small containers...for leftovers. As far as your pain changing or worsening. I know abdomen muscles take a long time to fully heal and they are involved in almost all of our movements, so it could be that you've just strained your incisions. I would definitely throw my doctor a ring and just ask what they think.

When I went to see my doctor at 1 week , I asked at six weeks what should I have lost by then he said 15 to 20 lbs. so I think your doing Great !
  25. I haven't been on forever! After losing and gaining the same bit of weight I was getting extremely frustrated. Then I stopped and stayed at 138 for a few weeks... So I thought something has to give. My husband was trying a low sodium diet so I thought why not try it out? He recently quit smoking and had gained a few pounds and wanted to get the pounds off before vacation. I have been doing this eating plan for about 10 days and have lost 5 pounds, he has lost 10. I stepped on the scale and it said 133! I stared at it probably for a full minute and my eyes filled with tears. I wasn't even this thin in high school! Not that it's just about the numbers, I can't believe how great I feel!!! Only 13 more until goal!
