I had the same type results on my preop diet. Truth is, the preop diet isnt healthy real long term. For a few weeks its fine. Its a crash diet of sorts and you would probably lose interest in it and return back to your old habits. Thats just my opinion of course. I almost postponed my surgery but am glad I didn't. Its still your choice and I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.

Hi all, I'm scheduled for my endoscopy on Monday at 10:15am. I woke up today with a sore throat this morning and little bumps in the back of my mouth. I feel perfectly fine otherwise but now I'm really nervous that they will cancel my procedure. Did this happen to anyone? If so, did they still see you even though you didn't have any other symptoms? This whole process has been overwhelming for me. I found out last week that I need my gallbladder removed because of gallstones. I really can't afford a set back Thanks for listening and sharing your experience if you have one.

Post surgical circulation
James Marusek replied to nh-vsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to the internet, there can be several reasons why you feel numbness or a tingling sensation after surgery. https://www.verywell.com/numbness-and-tingling-after-surgery-3156878 Numbness after any surgical procedure is expected for several weeks to months following. As the nerves to the area are traumatized and will then experience a temporary neuropraxia, a transient loss of nerve conduction. This usually resolves over the next 6-12 weeks, but depending on the procedure performed, sometimes much longer. -
Update on my moms band removal / sleeve
amybaby33 replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank God your Mom has her band out! I'm so sorry to hear everything she has gone through, but it sounds like she is on the mend. When my band slipped it caused a total stomach obstruction and put into septic shock..I was also 38 weeks pregnant. VERY SCARY STUFF! I'm just so happy to hear she is better -
Met with the new surgeon yesterday and all went well. Waiting to be set up with an appointment with the nutritionist and start all the insurance stuff. Guess I'm starting to feel a little anxiety over all the wait. When I spoke to the insurance company a couple of weeks ago, they seemed more than helpful, but there are so many horror stories out there about denial, appeals and the whole insurance hell process. Keeping fingers crossed and waiting for the phone call!!!!

Hey guys! My surgery was 7/13/11 and I have been in AGONY ever since! Today was the first day the gas pains didn't kick my ass! Lol. I'll tell my surgery story in the post op section, but the good thing is that I'm down 10 lbs since Wednesday. I started at 248, now I'm 238.4 lbs. Just a forewarning, you really don't understand how much you CANT drink after surgery. I've had this one Water bottle I've sipped on for three days, and this 1cup of Jello, but I'm not even hungry! I dreamed about a bag of cheetos last night, lol! Good luck to u all!

Maybe. No maybe. get rid of them as quickly as you can. Do you still keep Cookies and cake in the house? You eliminated the unhealthy food, so do the same with all aspects of your unhealthy lifestyle. Maybe even buy something you can't fit into yet (if you don't already have some from time past). Most of my fat clothes were worn out cause I hated buying fat clothes and had very few items and usually wore them too tight in denial of my size. So I pitched most of them right away. I try on the smaller clothes in my closet about once a week as motivation. It's such a fantastic feeling fitting into the next size down. I want no reminders of what I am leaving behind or a security blanket to fall back on. -
August Sleevers first month post op diet and care
rln52 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved August 10. Tips for 1st 2 days in hospital. Take chap stick my lips were so dry. Remember toothpaste and brush i must have used it every four hours while awake. I slept most of the time. Try to get nurse to start IV on non dominant hand because you really need your dominant hand for lifting, drinking fluids and especially when going to bathroom. I found it was easier to stay out of the bed and in a recliner. Lifting forward using the arms of recliner to push me up was so less painful. I took a sweater I seemed to be colder than usual. My lips got swollen and my cheeks were red. This has gone away. The IV fluids kept me going to bathroom every 2 hours. I took my pillow to place over my abdomen during the car ride home. The staff wakes you up every so often to check vital signs. It was tiring but I walked down the hall several times. Also remember to do the incentive spirometer to help with lung expansion. Just remember the first week is only 7 days long and each day there is something that feels better. -

How to get over stall? Hair loss
Kindle replied to slocin12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a month long stall between weeks 6 and 10 ....in fact I gained 3 pounds. And this was while I was on a medication that made me very nauseous so I could barely eat or drink. As soon as I stopped the meds I pretty much doubled my calories and fluids and BAM I lost 8 pounds the next week. So you may try changing what and how much you eat to see what happens. I did, BTW, drop a whole pant size that month even though I lost no weight. I just came out of a two weeks stall but I didn't do anything different. Actually I don't really consider this last one to be a stall. I think my weight loss is just slowed down since I'm at my doctor's goal. I only weigh once/ week, so if there's not going to be much change going forward I may switch to 1-2 times/month. My personal goal is a normal BMI (right around 150), and I'm fine if it takes a few months. -

Backpacking and other high energy activities after sleeved?
VSGAnn2014 replied to willfish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a veteran backpacker. I think the idea that backpackers "cram calories" to backpack is not true. I've been on the trail for as long as 30 days at a time (have done that twice) and did fine while eating 3 meals a day and eating some trail mix and drinking Gatorade during the day. You should be fine post WLS. If you're just going out for a week or two, it's even less of a problem. After all, WLS never stopped anyone from grazing. P.S. You're also in for a big surprise if you think you'll forever after be able to eat only a few tablespoons at a time. -

some folks say the 1 or 2 weeks of liquid diet prior to surgery is your bowel prep. -
You're in bandster hell and will be till you get the fill that gives you enough restriction to feel satisfied longer. And the goal is not to stay full. The goal is to not be hungry for 4 hours. I still struggle with the hunger part and I eat a snack at 10:30 am and around 3 pm to make it through. And, I lost 12 lbs the first 2 weeks and not another lb till 4 months when I got the right fill and enough restriction. This is a diffcult time but keep going in for fills till you get the one that gives you the satiety you need. tmf

April 6 surgeries
bananabellyaches replied to Lucilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved April 4th & today is the first day I could have soft food. This morning tried 2 bites of cottage cheese & one bite of yogurt. Stomach made a lot of noises - but feel ok. First 2 weeks was Clear Liquids, 3rd week was liquids that run easily thru a strainer. I made homemade black bean Soup & put it thru the blender. Hands down best thing I've tried besides Campbell's soup on the go (not allowed tomato soup). Also, tried a frozen Greek yogurt bar last night & had no problems. Planning on trying a few bites of egg for lunch. Premier Protein chocolate shakes are the only ones I'm interested in now. Liked the strawberry & vanilla first 2 weeks, but now I'm sick of them. All other Protein Shakes just turn me off now. Shakes I used to drink regularly before surgery now are hard to get down. I do drink a whey "Nectar" drink in tropical flavor with my powdered bariatric Vitamins in it & it's ok for 24g of protein. I add spoonful of Isopure non- flavored protein to my soup & coffee (mix it w/bit Water first). G2 & Powerade zero taste delicious to me right now. So I drink quite a few ice cold drinks & my Fluid intake is very good. MyraLax is a must for me every day too. Painful spot next to my belly button that burns with a sharp pain! Drives me nuts cause I'm wanting to physically do so many things. Doc's office said its where they put extra stitch to prevent hernias. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
What happens at Post Op 1 week visit?

I also don't think you should wait until next week to get this resolved, or at the minimum stick to foods that you can tolerate without throwing up until next week (if you can identify them, and this isn't totally random). Hopefully, mushy foods are going down okay.

Just started my liquid diet today - Surgury July 22nd
losingitat41 replied to gouryella's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started mine today too and my surgery is the 22nd! It wasnt so bad. I am allowed 5 optifast shakes and 2 protein shakes from other protein powder. I did them every 2 hours. and drank a TON of water. Today was not so bad. I am curious to see how tmw goes. I am okay with just doing the shakes b/c i had "last supper" syndrome the last 3 weeks and gained 4 lbs. I think i ate everything i wanted so i feel like this is pay back for eating all of that! -
Pain under my large incision 2wks post op
meghan1983 replied to karri68's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't know where my port is... my surgeon told me it would be right around my ribs and I have a small incision there with a bump under it... I think that's my port... so I still don't know about the pain with the large incision. I see my surgeon this week for a fill so I'll find out where my port is I guess. -
You probably will not like this answer but stalls are normal. I would first make sure your eating and exercise habits have not changed. If they are the same then you body is just in a adjustment time. I have had several stalls. Some short and some as long as 1 1/2 months. The longest one was just recent and I had lost a lot of weight....I knew my body was adjusting. That being said I always lose inches during a stall on the scale. Try not to panic the scale will move again. Best Wishes to you...

I wake up, "Oh! its an awesome beautiful day! I have a great band and i'm losing weight and I'm exercising and in love with the world." Eat great all day, take care of new baby...husband works third, leaves at 9:30, baby is asleep for the night by 10. I think, "Now I can relax, piss around on the internet, wind down." And then I fall into this thing where at least 3 days out of the week I will go binging. And of course, it leads to nothing but puking and feeling like crap and finally falling asleep disappointed in myself...etc. It seems so simple, I know I shouldn't, I know I'm tired after being up with the baby all day, I know i'm bored and probably should go to sleep, an I know this behavior is wrong and could lead to trouble if not rectified. BUT KNOWING ISN'T DOING! So, if anyone has some tips on what they do to wind down, rather than falling into old habits late at night, please share.:ranger:

22 lbs.....in less than 2 weeks, I am loving my sleeve!
shanda7182 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey guys! I am so excited to give you all an update of my newly sleeved progress. Although, these last few wks have been challenging, when I got on the scale this morning, it was ALL worth it. I am down 22 LBS since being sleeved, I cant believe it! I have not lost that much weight before. I am 80 lbs before I reach my goal. Below are thing that I feel have been working for me: 1. Ive been working out everyday 2. Drinking at least 70 oz of Water for the last 5-6 days (im finally able to drink an adequate amt of fluid) 3. I have found a Protein supplement that I can tolerate: (pro to go's creamsicle protein drink- just add water and there ya go. It has 15 grams of protein in it, around 80 calories, around 7 carbs. I drink about 3 per day. Then for the rest of my protein I add the unjury's unflavored protein to my Soups, Jello, etc. Oh yeah and I have an NSV. I went to a restaurant to get some Soup (as I was tired of that ones that ive been having). They gave me an 8 ounce cup for my soup. I got home, took about 5-6 tsps full and WAS STUFFED! Can you believe that. That 8 oz will probably be my lunch and dinner today! What I am finding is that water easily goes down but when the item is thicker (such as cream of chicken soup, etc) I get full so much quicker. I just had to share my first scale and NSV's with you all. I know that its not likely my weight loss will continue at this rate but im glad that I got a good start with it. ONEDERLAND will soon be here in about 20 lbs, so im looking so forward to that! Thanks for listening to me rant.......:patriot:
