Hi All, I'm new to this support site and wanted to start a new thread for those of us still a few weeks out from surgery. What's everyone doing to prepare mentally, physically, emotionally? My tentative date for surgery, assuming Cigna approves, is Oct. 2. It feels like it's so far away but I'm still trying to prepare now. How long does everyone plan to take off work? Have you told anyone besides spouse/significant other? Only my husband knows because the rest of my family is too judgmental and I'm doing it for me not them. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Ok, I know it's only been 1 week since surgery, but I feel like my incisions are healing and feeling good and my insides still seem to ache. Is this normal? I may, again, just be freaking out. I know it isn't that long since surgery. I keep imagining that my band has slipped or something has torn. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I just paranoid or is there something to be worried about?

Tell me your 6/7 week stats and what you're eating/ate! Would love to know. I'm in a stall right now. I've been in a stall for a while. I'm doing okay though! SW: 264.4 CW: 231 I'm tolerating everything fine. Can really feel restriction now to an extent. I wasn't the first 4 weeks which scared me. I'm tolerating all foods and trying all allowed foods. Which is everything right now. Minus the obvious. Today I went to taco Mac. Got three roasted wings down. Was stuffed as a goose. Crazy I used to eat 10! Tell me about where you were/are at 6/7 weeks post op Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I just started my third week post op and I feel really good. I get full really easy but I feel like I can eat just about anything. I realize inside I am still healing and I can't feel it, but I had some popcorn (dry popped) last night and it didn't seem to bother me. It only has 6 grams of carbs and 33 calories. It was just something because I wanted a "crunch" and figured it's a healthier option. I am not allowed to have raw veggies yet or I would have had celery. Tonight I'm going to try a little chicken. hey gang, I'll be in NY for a week, with plenty of free time on the weekend. Just a few meet & greet activities I have to attend. I'll be in Syracuse for a symposium in a couple of weeks. Let me know if that is close for any one. Cheers!

I know I see that most doctors put their patients on a 1-2 week liquid diet before surgery because it helps shrink the liver for surgery. My doctor only requires me to do the liquid shakes for 2 days prior to surgery. As I read all these posts I am feeling guilty that I have not done at least 1 week. My surgery is on Thursday so I am going to do it for 3 full days but I am wondering- did anyone else's doctor only require the 2 days prior of liquid shakes?????

Period pains?
ShrinkyDinkMe22 replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got, mine a week early I was 4 days post op. Other than lasting 7 days instead of 5 there was no difference from this one compared to past ones. I'm sure everyone is different but that is my story -
New years eve is here how can I get some caffeine? I'm 3 1/2 weeks sleeved

I'm one week post op yesterday and still very tired. I feel great but the exhaustion takes me by surprise. I'll get a little burst of energy and then have to lay down. I hear this lasts a while - give yourself plenty of time. It doesn't "feel" like a big surgery but it really is.

Thanks for sharing your story, Carrie. Are you having your surgery this week on Thursday? I will be thinking about you.

I love Gold Standard in the double chocolate (the vitamin shoppe). It gives 24g of protein per scoop and it takes really good. Like a milkshake. It's about $23 for a big container that should last almost 2 weeks. Good luck.

Thanks for your thoughts, Fran. First of all, we were not permitted to drink it for two weeks post op. I suppose we could use it after that, however, since we're both retired, I don't think it will be any problem eating at home.

I wanna know how people in my situation are doing??? I have lost 8 pounds since the operation I feel good, I get full by “eating” so little, I am in the liquid stage, I have tried eggs, beans etc.. all good, but my biggest concerns are: will my hair fall off?? Do I need vitamins? (My doctor said he doesn’t recommend them??) and my scars, would you guys recommend any good cream, oil? To make them go away?? And, will I ever eat solid food :/?? Thanks!

Just a few weeks after my 1 year Band-iversary. Exactly 199 pounds! -
Thanks so much Suzanne... I figured that was probably the case with not hearing from anyone but I really appreciate you taking the time to drop a note. That's a great idea about the photo. I actually have been chatting with Jubjub7 who had surgery last week with Dr. A... He was giving me "play by play" as he went through his week. It was great to have the information and sounds like he had the same great level of care that I keep hearing about from Dr. A and his staff. I can just keep my fingers crossed (and follow the pre-op diet!) Talk soon... Ron

That is awesome!!!! My NSV for today is that I took the baby to the Fall Festival. It was in a big field and I walked around for 45 minutes going to all the booths and seeing the games. When we got home she wanted to go for a walk. I was talking on the phone and didn't realize that we did 3 laps around the neighborhood! She was in her little car and I was walking. Just a month ago, I couldn't make it around the neighborhood once without my back and knees screaming at me. YAY for NSVs!!! It makes the stall a bit more bearable.

Sometimes you'll lose fast, sometimes slow and sometimes not at all. All part of the process. Stay focused on the protocol, stay active and stay away from the scales for a couple of weeks. You're gonna love the new you!!

I had RNY on March 15th. I lost 10 lbs during my pregnancy-op diet. At my two week check up, I had lost 20 lbs. Since then, I have only lost and additional 6 lbs. (it's been 24 days) it is too early for a stall? Has anyone else experienced a stall so early on?

I'm only 2 weeks out, but I already am journaling in details. I'm also writing in any reactions or feelings I have after eating. felt overly full, felt uncomfortable, felt good, etc.
