I have been putting off getting a new swimsuit for laps after my other one got too big, and I had surgery which has kept me out of the pool for quite a while. I couldn't find anything I liked in town (and the prices were astronomical) so I went online to Swimsuitsforall.com and found some cute suits. Got a size 10 per their measurement guidelines. Received them in the mail today and tried them on - too big!!! For the first time in my life I didn't have enough butt to fill the seat of the suit!! I am sending them back for smaller suits --- how sweet it is

jasjulesmom replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a great NSV. My daughters class was going on a trip and I was a chaperone. We ordered shirt for the group and I ordered myself a large. Which is a huge victory in itself. The day the shirts came she brought mine home and told me that mine was one of the only large shirts and everyone else was either an XL or 2XL. I couldn't be happier. I wore it for the trip yesterday and it was even a bit big. Loving my sleeve. Down 95 lbs since 1/16. 35 more to goal. -
First, I went to the doctors for mammogram today, and decided to step on the scale. It's been about two months since I've weighed myself, and I stepped on wearing my big heavy boots and pants and everything. But to my unbelievable surprise, I was in Onederland!!!!! And not just a little bit, I weighed 198! The second was later in the day when I went to The Gap to buy some clothes for my five-year-old daughter. Not only am I not wearing an extra large shirt anymore, but a large…. But I fit in a pair of their jeans!!!!! JEANS!!! I have never, ever, fit in a pair of Gap jeans. Because I have a really big butt! :-) Anyway, for someone who doesn't follow the rules very well, it's really really really nice to see that I'm still losing.

Well the 23rd was my 1year mark I went from 418 to 256!!!six pounds from my docs one year goal for me I thought. I wouldn't be able to make it to 230 that was my personal goal but hell I can do it!!!!!! It might take another year to get to 200 but that's ok anything is possible!!!! I've lost 162 pounds and I even went off a diving board and it didn't bend or break!!!!!! My kids were. So proud of mommy!! Nsv

I just done the math and if I live another 50 years I'll save $240,000 on food and beverage since having the LapBand. That's enough to put all my kids through college and still buy a new Cadillac!!!! I had a soda habit that would make fat bastard jealous. I usually ate out twice a day. Wow, that really adds up! Hot Stock Alert: If you own any shares of Pepsi-Cola you better dump it fast!!!

Stupid Stall!
BlessedBeyondMeasure2012 replied to Aries's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 9 weeks out on Monday and I've had two so far. The first one I hit at 10 days out and it lasted 2 1/2 weeks, the second was at about 6 or 7 weeks and lasted another 3 1/2 weeks. I think I am finally breaking it now. I count a lot of NSV's during a stall (I can now wear both of my wedding rings again and I haven't been able to do that since last June, I'm dropping in clothes size(s), stuff like that). Also you should measure yourself. My first stall I was able to drop a pant size and the second stall that I've been in has me almost in another size smaller too. I need to measure myself again but it seems like when I'm in a stall the inches are coming off more noticably but when the scale is moving my body doesn't change as much. Keep plugging along and it will break, it is just a matter of time. To break my first stall I seriously dropped my carbs. I had been staying between 50-70 a day and I dropped it back to less than 30 but closer to 20 or less a day. Or maybe my body got adjusted and it was just time for me to start losing again, who knows. This time I haven't really changed anything, I was losing, I stalled and then started losing again. I know some people will lower or increase carbs and/or protein and will change up their exercise regimen or really increase the exercise. You just have to find what works for you. Good luck! Don't lose hope, your sleeve isn't broken, your body just has to catch up! -
Biked to work for the first time this morning, 21.7 miles, 90 minutes, 1130 calories, 41.8 degrees average temp. The real NSV will be when I make it home

Why are so many people disappointed when they "only lose" this and that much weight?
cinward2001 replied to Sweetcarol238's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I understand it. Especially in the earlier days, when it's harder to just drink liquids and the surgery is so "fresh." I feel like the surgery was drastic, the results should be drastic. I know better...I took a year to lose 85 lbs with the band. It's also a bit about the worry, too. Worry that this won't work, worry that I'll stay hungry even after moving to solid foods, etc. So looking at the numbers on the scales is a way to offset some of that worry and the more they move, the more comforting. I've been frustrated that the scales haven't moved since I've been home. I'm going to try to let go of that today and remember that they ARE DOWN from pre-op. I don't know what I weighed on my home scales before leaving, but they're down at least 5-10 lbs (in about 2 weeks). So I need to remind myself that I AM happy with that, I'm HAPPY that I'm wearing some blue jeans that I wouldn't wear before the surgery, etc. Being unhappy just makes me want to eat more. So I have to focus on the NSVs of recovery, those jeans, etc. So I don't think it's negativity at all...I think it's worry and frustration..just plain ol' being SCARED. -
My program asks us to hold off for 6 weeks... Glad you're not in THAT program, I'll bet! Likely whatever is comfortable will be fine. NSV is "non-scale victory', like fitting (again) into favorite jeans...

will my brain ever catch up?
cupcakebabe84 replied to kristinc1985's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had this very thought just yesterday. I have been getting so many compliments at how thin I'm getting but right behind those comments are " and your clothes look too big for you to be wearing to work anymore" so I decided to head on over to New York and Company. I automatically head to the far right end of the rack to grab the biggest size that I would wear from that store which was an 18/ 20, Turns out I am down to a 12. I couldn't believe my eyes and had to re check the size on the tag. Yup, I'm wearing a 12! Yay... So putting on clothes that fit helps me realize the changes I have gone through. Hard work, sweat and even pain are paying off. It's like they say no pain no gain! Congrats to everyone on your NSV's.... -
Now that IS an NSV to celebrate! Not too TMI for this crowd. Keep Pimpin that Sleeve!

I was banded 12/3/13 and had revision 2/8/13 due to kink in tubing. I am happy to say I'm 58lbs down. I am having trouble seeing the changes just yet but I can feel the changes. My knee hasnt hurt in awhile, I have more energy, and NSV was when we went to Disney 2 weeks ago and kept up with my 5yr old daughter without even breaking a sweat. This is the first time I have attached before/after pics and I am nervous about doing that lol.

I'm back to my old eating habits ;-(
mistysj replied to mocanitanj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you think back and remember why you wanted the surgery! What were your goals, dreams, plans? What are your NSVs so far? How do you reward yourself? Maybe think really short term and each time you eat on plan or exercise, give yourself a small reward like buy an app for your phone or a track on iTunes. Also maybe you can make a list of pros and cons about eating back on track vs staying the same. I find that if I write it down, it is more powerful for me. You took an awesome first step by coming here to get support! Bravo! -
Hey all... Wow time has really flown by! I can't believe how long it has been since i have updated my little blog here. I am sorry I have been so busy and distracted. Well for my numbers! I am 10 weeks out and have lost 62lb! I have gone from a 47BMI to a 37BMI. I am very happy with my results. I don't think I would call my self a supper fast looser, but I am keeping it steady. Other thank a 3 weeks stall somewhere in the middle, I have been loosing about 3lb a week. That I can live with I have gone from a size 22/2X to a size 18/XL I am so happy! And everyone is really starting to notice the changes. I think that is one of the most encouraging things... I have also begun to really like exercise! I have started going to Zumba once or twice a week depending on my schedule... I just love it! For all of you girls out there who hate exercise but love to dance, this is for you! The friends you make at these classes are supper awesome! They keep you motivated, and wanting to come back. Its like a little support group all its own. At least that is how mine is, I really hope they are all like that... I know My Fitness Pall is my life saver and best friend lately... All of my friends who are on there supporting me every day are just wonderful! Thanks so much! You keep me going! If any of you want to follow me or need a little extra support of your own you can friend me on MFP my screen name is the same. amberlydw8 I have some new NSV's over the past few weeks... I can cross my legs!!! It has been forever since I have been able to cross my legs! Awesome! I can run for and not feel like I am going to die! (not very far, but its so much better than before!) My knees, feet and back don't hurt anymore! I don't feel like the "fat girl" in the room anymore! I know I have a ways to go yet, but its amazing the change in my confidence levels... I can walk miles with out getting tired! I have a waist line! Its awesome! Well, That is what I got so far... Everyone keep up the good work... Let me know if you have any questions I am an open book or if any NSV's of your own you want to share!

NSV for me today! Putting laundry away and on a whim tried on my 14 yr old daughter's jeans. They fit! She's 2 inches taller and 25 lbs lighter-no idea how that works... I'll never tell her though. She'd be HORRIFIED (eye roll!)

57 and waiting fir July 15th
anncharlie replied to soumahoro551's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
are you really 57??? omg... if you are...you look good girl... I am 55 and I had the sleeve ... I am down 32 lbs too... and at a stall ... I think my friend is coming... yes I still have that friend... lol I think our bodies drop the weight so quickly ... it needs time to regroup... there are so many NSV right now though to compensate for the slow down... like... fitting into smaller sizes in pants and tops.... OMG.... plus MORE ENERGY.... I am a happy camper at this point... -
I have similar feelings. After having lost 57 pounds since Jan all I can see is my new turkey neck, bat wing arms, saggy stomach, and jelly thighs. I am ecstatic about the weight loss but still have 43 pounds to go and hard to picture what these areas will look like then. I never realized how much gravity can affect us. I am already saving to take care of these side effects . The good is that I have had a lot of NSV's. Can now take a bath without getting stuck getting out, I can sit in a chair with arms, my clothes are all falling off, I have a lot more energy, can walk up my stairs without getting winded, the list goes on.

stalled and overly emotional. aka - it's been a rough week
mamamareli replied to makemyownluck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat as you-- weight wise. I lost 13 preop, 12 since surg on 5/8, nothing hit past week or so! Don't get discouraged! It's still so early, we will lose the weight. How could we not with how little we are consuming? Lets make a pact to put our scales away, weigh only once a week, and enjoy the NSVs. I'm thrilled to feel more in control of my food intake and have fewer cravings. Don't worry, we got this!!! PS: your profile pic suggests you are a beautiful, positive, happy girl! Be proud of yourself for starting this journey!
