I waited about 4 weeks and had drinks on nye. Not many just a few. I have one maybe once a week. You just get buzzed fast. My doc said I could drink but didn't give me a timeframe to refrain nor did I ask. My NUT said I couldn't drink at all after the surgery with is total bs and unrealistic.

How many days off work ?
Mega_100 replied to Amayor85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told them I needed surgery (didn't say what) and took a week and a half off. I wish I would have taken a full 2 weeks or maybe even 3. I was just so tired and would have dizzy spells at work bc I wasn't concentrating on getting my fluids in. But you'll find that everyone will give you a different answer bc everyone recovers differently. Good luck! -
I absolutely regret having this surgery
280journey replied to kaydeemacc's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Let me tell you, I thought I was going to die too! I had excruciating gas pain, couldn't get anything down bc my throat felt closed, extreme fatigue, breathing issues, headaches, etc. Try hard with fluids bc I ended up with a bladder infection...and had to take antibiotics....no fun. -
Funny i had a breakdown an s cried one day bc i couldn't eat like i use to...i thought maybe im going crazy and I knew no one else was experiencing that. My husband told me to keep my mind occupied and keep myself busy while im out of work from surgery and i will not want to eat

My hands are always cold since I was sleeved, any suggestions
PageRN replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's funny you mentioned this bc I was just sleeved on the 12th and I notice I am always grabbing for my throw blanket. I guess I better get use to it. -
I absolutely regret having this surgery
280journey replied to kaydeemacc's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I understand how you feel. I'm four weeks postop and I was miserable for three weeks. I had the nausea and fatigue and couldn't get a lot of fluids down. Biggest thing that helped was my doctor told me to increase the nausea meds to every four hours. He also prescribed an inhaler bc I was so short of breath. Another thing that added to my misery was that I was constipated...milk of magnesium helped. Believe me, being constipated will make you miserable. Definitely talk to your doctor and nutritionist. I regretted this for three weeks, day in and day out. I didn't think I would get better...but you know what? Each day gets better. -
I'm gonna have to try and watch on my computer bc it has no sound on my phone but wanted to say.... DUDE! You are FIT!!! Looking good!

Anyone have RNY surgery done be Dr. Ronnie Keith, Norman Oklahoma?
CheriB78 replied to GBLady41's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Curious how Dr. Keith patients are doing, I am waiting from approval for primary insurance, already have secondary approval with BC/BS. If BC has to be primary, he is in network. -

How long after surgery did you feel like yourself again?
DeezJeanz replied to cocoa8utter's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
How are you all and good luck with your surgery and healing and congratulations. I had my surgery Dec 4, 2015, which was a conversion from the gastric sleeve to gastric bypass BC for 23 months following the sleeve, I suffered acid reflux, throwing up at night when I was asleep, I was just a sick person after having the gastric sleeve. So I was sent to two different surgeons who then converted me to gastric bypass n at that time I was 167 pounds. prior to sleeve, I was 236.8. I search this forum because now that I've had the surgery it's not been like the first one; I have no energy I am so tired and I feel like I should be exercising or something but I really am so exhausted. I am still very sore in my belly although the doctor has checked me over and said everything feels fine she is even told me to have solid proteins and of course increase my liquids which I am really trying my hardest to do. Mostly water BC of my first surgery, I can't bear to drink one more protein drink, disgusting!! There are some things that I cannot have that I have tried and I have thrown up, like one of the persons here said some things I can't eat and feels heavy in my chest and I have to stop because it doesn't agree with me or it throw up. I'm now 142 lbs, but for me, I just want to feel some energy back and since reading this forum, I don't feel as scared anymore and I THANK Y'ALL FOR SHARING!! I thought that because I had these two surgeries that it was my body rejecting it somehow, that I was going to be dying sooner than God had intended or something and then again I just might but it's good to know that it's not because of my two surgeries but it's because it's just the way the surgery is I guess. Again thank y'all and good luck. Lord willing, I'll be getting some probiotics tomorrow! Good luck all:) -
Well I never thought this would happen...
cookarue replied to Kspot42's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started my period after surgery, at the hospital. It was a very irregular period for me, because I'd just had one two weeks before. Body does weird stuff after surgery. Anyway, nobody was phased by the blood in my urine (they saved it to measure my output). Nobody was bothered at all, or minded. I used pads bc the tampon stance- to get out in or out- would've been impossible. No biggie girl, don't even worry about it. -
So I've had the balloon in for 16 days now and I haven't seen much change in weight. Maybe 1-3 lbs depending on the day. This is very discouraging. I don't get it. Is anyone one weight loss medicine as well as the balloon? What was everyone's starting weight? Just curious bc I feel like I just paid a **** ton for something that should be working better then this. Ugh

HELP! Cant stop eating!
CowgirlJane replied to nn1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry I didn't read the whole thread...so here is another stock reply. I have been maintaining 150#loss for a few years by making choices to help control hunger. Hunger is real, I was morbidly obese most of my life with a drive to eat that never stopped. Sweet food (Water melon)triggers hunger. Snacking, spreading food out like that, you never get satiated and you wind up eating alot. The solution is exactly what people have said. Eat Protein, dense protein FIRST, folowed by green type veggies. Do that 4-5 times a day. If you eat chicken breast and broccoli, are you really hungry an hour later? Water load BIG time between meals. I never get thirsty, but if I don't get enough fluids, I am shockingly hungry...coincidence? Then, there is head hunger, that desire to eat...that is a whole nother subject but also quite real. I guess I sound like a know it all, but all I really know is I spent decades in the 250-350 weight class and now hang out in the 150s....I was sleeves 4 years ago and I have learned that this "stock BS" actually works although it is not always easy.... Hang in there, keep working at it, make a plan, journal, set yourself up for success..you can do it! -

please share the microwave in a cup protein recipe
jess9395 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
OMG! Just tried this exact recipe and it was AWESOME! I don't use non dairy creamer so I used fairlife milk and a splash of half and half. With the mint cookie Syntrax. Wow!!! I'm totally abandoning my other mug cake recipe for this bc it's so simple. I did it in a little glass ramekin I have. Now I want a splash of SF whip cream to go with it next time Thanks! -
Anyone have Blue Shield CA? question....
reachbree replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on having a great Surgeons team! seems that it just really depends on who you see, which i know. Here's what I was told by my surgeons team.... "The rep I spoke with says they do require 6 months, if you are insistent on 3 months you can but be warned they will probably deny it and we'll have to do the appeal process which can take much longer......" Even though I gave her a copy of the new policy and Auth form..... Now it seems that I am the only one who is having this issue....with BS/CA and my surgeons office. How are you guys (and others Ive read through the site) being told by BS/CA reps they no longer require the 6 months and had a policy update 7/31...and Im being told by BS/CA reps the total opposite? now i'm beginning to think that this just isn't for me..... I mean, are we calling 2 different companies..far as I know there is only 1 BS/CA...... Sorry for the rant, just very frustrating and disheartening. -
My goal is 200lbs weight loss. I refuse bypass. Has anyone lost beyound the 60% doctora expect with sleeve?
Munecagirl85 replied to Munecagirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha purred bigmacs!!! - well i think my main concern is not that i will not put the effort in. And do right its when i will put my effort in and see zero result and just maintaining! ..I see so many people say that they do everything correctly and. It woukdnd be physically possible for them to losse the rest with diet and exercise they have to get the bypass Bc the sleever is too small and you can only hold so much therefore, your ody after one or two years is comfortable and just maintains- i hope iam explaining my self correclty sorry if its confusing -

See -- this is what leads to long-term WLS success: Recognizing patterns and relationships between what you're eating and what happens afterward and, based on that, building a way to eat for the phase you're in that will work for you. Way to go, @@BCs 1000 ! -
My sister introduced me to them and is she warned me about the smell. My sense of smell is prob off bc I could hardly smell anything. Lol. I have tried spaghetti squash and I like it but like these way better. I'm going to be trying those zucchini noodles and also cauliflower rice. I've done the cauliflower mash and those are tasty. Gotta mix it up to keep it interesting.

Any 12/21/15 sleevers: How are you doing?
amandasue replied to mabarbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Major Comolications--more surgeries! I've been pretty depressed....to be honest. I felt SO SO SO good last week. Then Friday I had some discomfort in my side and hit a fever of 101.8. I assumed I just overdid it working so much with my business partner out bc her mom passed and the husband was in ATL so I was also flying solo with both kids. By Saturday I went to port orange for an inspection for My partner and my fever was up to 102.9 when I got some so I took a nap and then went back out to show property to a buyer (bad idea!)? When I got home it was back up to 102.8 and I was having discomfort in my left side and shortness of breath. Sunday I stayed in bed all day taking Tylenol hoping I just needed rest. By Monday i knew I hadn't declined this much in this little time unless something was wrong, I called the surgeon and when I got here he had ct orders and blood work written out stat for me with the complication insurance paying it all. As soon as I finished I went upstairs. He asked me to bring whoever I had with me in I thought...oh ****! Told me I had an infected abcess on my diaphragm-about 7cm wide.. They would put me under local anesthesia to put a drain in and they are checking for a leak again 1 more time even though first time looked like no leak. Anesthesia didn't work on drain insertion I cried like a b***h I felt like I was in some creepy Drs lab I've never met and he Kept telling me to keep quiet and lay still. Then came 2nd leak test. Radiology told me immediately there's was none and then dr Marema said I'd be going to the or for a stent. He's really been so nice the whole time. Then leak test #2 radiology says is good. Oh but wait here comes Dr M again with stent surgeon to say placement isn't ideal and in going back to OR yet again for a 2nd stent. In the middle of that infectious disease dr shows up to say my abcess is staff infection!!!!! So I'll be going home in a few days with a PIC line and 3 weeks of antibiotic ivs......that's the long of it. I've had a procedure and 2 surgeries since Monday---doc said I'm the poster child for everything that can go wrong. Although he usually only sees in 1sy week I just want to go home to my babies....as their healthy mom! ????
