The only information on the bottom that leads anywhere is the website www.jarretindustries.com Unfortunately I got it as a set of 10 (all different colors) at the local thrift store. Sorry I can't point you in a more productive direction. lol. But they are absolutely perfect for portions! HW: 328 (02/21/17) SW: 271 (05/24/17) CW:

I never thought I would complain about ANY weight loss, but I can't help but compare my weight loss with others on this site. I am two weeks out and have only lost 10 pounds. I get in about 90 g of protein and 600 cal a day which is what my surgeon recommended. I'm 5'10". I feel like doing something wrong especially when I hear about people losing 25 their first two weeks. Also, I get in my fluids and walk 30 min daily.

ok, so I wear underwear from the Avenue which are sized like clothes 18/20, 22/24, etc. I wear 22/24 now and they are getting big, since I'm losing I hate to pay Ave's prices for panties when I can go to Walmart and get some but I do not know what size to get, 9, 10, 11, 12 and so on??? Call me dumb I guess.

Thank you guys so much! I'm doing a lot better this afternoon it kind of comes in waves. Sometimes I'm really excited then 10 mins later I'm freaking out. I m going to center of excellence and I know someone who had my surgeon and loved him. I asked him if I had any risk and he told me honestly no I don't see any complications with you. He's had one complication last year and it was a 600lb 65 yr. old with a lot of health issues and she had a leak. I feel like as surgeons go I have the best. My mom and dad have told me that I shouldn't worry about the surgery that its the surgeons job so I'm going to try that technique for awhile. He told me that when I come in on Tuesday they will start me on some anxiety meds almost immediately. Wish I could of had some starting Friday:) Thanks again!!

Ok so I will be 4 weeks post op this friday and because I was a cash pay patient, i wasnt really required to go through many classes before the surgery. It was kinda like, ok u made up your mind that you want the surgery, get surgical clearance from your doctor, take this physc exam, and then go to the 1 hr group nutrition class (which didnt really cover much) and then I had surgery. Im not complaining, cuz I know theres alot of people that have to jump through hoops just to get the insurance company to pay for the surgery, but my point is, not having to do so many things pre op, coupled with a surgeon with a seemingly more relaxed aproach than alot of other surgeons ( at my 10 day check up he cleared me to pretty much eat watever I wanted but to avoid startches and to take it slow) i wasnt really sure exactly what I needed to do/ eat post op reading on here it seems like post op people have very strict guidlines so that made me decide I needed to get a nutritionist. Well I went to my nuts appointment today and she went over what im eating (mainly protien and water intake) and pretty much said she had nothing to tell me, im doing it all right. She did say that she would like to see me incorporate more startches in my diet (bread, potatoes ect) and it just kinda confused me, I mean whos right? My surgeon or my Nut startches or no starches? Im wondering if i even should be going back to this nut she didnt really help me, if my surgeon gave me any instructions it was to be avoiding startches. Is there any of you that didnt have a nut and didnt feel you needed one? Or vice versa was there any of you that had/have a nut and found them important in your journy.

Outpatient Surgery
Swtnatured replied to Swtnatured's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm scheduled with Dr. Umbach on 11-5-10. He quoted me $11,000 for outpatient and $15,000 for in patient. I was told he performs his inpatient surgerys on Wednesday at the hopsital where you stay one night and his outpatient surgerys on Fridays at the surgery clinic and get out the same day. There is a big difference in price by going home the same day... and now I'm wondering if I should try to get that extra $4,000 somewhere so I can have it performed in the hospital. I'm self pay. I don't know the answer to your drain question. I am awaiting a response from Dr. Umbach's office on a few more questions, and one was about the drain. Do you live Las Vegas? -

Does anyone have BCBS of Illinois?
GraciesMom replied to jessress87's topic in Insurance & Financing
It did pay all the other appointments that I had to make, however I still had to pay the % it doesn't cover. i.e. $5.00 per surgeon visit, $20.00 here, $10 there, but that was how my husbands insurance has it written, I believe they pay up to a certain percent and then we cover the rest. PLUS my sureon has a add on of $300.00 that he charges that insurance doesn't cover. It does however cover the cost of getting a nutritionist ( he has one come in and give a class), he also supplys us with vitamines, and some other stuff, so it is a value. Nuttin my friend is free, it just ain't gonna happen, but having BCBS of Il is pretty great insurance and is truely the only way I could do this. Good questions, keep asking because these are great people here, but keep the actual medical stuff to ask to your surgeon. BTW, where are you going? I am going to Dr Lahmann in Joliet. -
Does anyone have BCBS of Illinois?
1SkinnyChick replied to jessress87's topic in Insurance & Financing
The 3month supervised diet is TRUE!!! Thank goodness. I attempted to go through the banding process 2 years ago with bcbs-il, hmo, near impossible. I then switched to PPO and was told to supply very extensive medical/weight history, which I could not do. I got very discouraged and gave up any hopes of being banded until I re-visited the board on a whim and heard about the 3 month supervised diet. I went to Day One Health, and on my first appt 8/3/09 met with the dietician who then scheduled me for two more appt 9/3 and 10/3 with her and the rest is history. Approved 2 1/2 weeks later, pre-op testing 11/23, banding 12/7. Yay!!!:smile2: -

Surgery Day
going2servive replied to going2servive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital in Houston, off I-10 and Gessner. I have followed all my directions to the T. I've been up walking since 5 this evening and can feel the air(gas) moving to exits. I have not had anything by mouth yet, but my pain is minimal. I am on a morphine drip I can use if I want, but I haven't had reason to us since after my first walk at 5pm today. I have no regrets what so ever. I know I have a long road ahead and will keep you posted on how my first liquid goes tomorrow. I did need pain meds asap when I woke up in recovery, I was so soar. -
1/2cup of food
Threetimesacharm replied to sarahbethemails's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lets see, there are 3 tsps. in a tablespoon. Half a cup of eggs seems like an odd amount and a lot for 12 days out. I didn't have egg until 19 days out and then it was 2T(1/8 cup). Maybe your pouch/stomach is bigger, you have not put your information in, so no idea what surgery you had. My NUT list also states that the quantities are the MAX not to eat it all if you are satisfied and have your full feeling, maybe you are missing it? -
Good luck and I am sure you will be just fine! BTW, I change my mind about 10 times a day, good thing it will be awhile before I can get the surgery.

My BMI is 62.9 and I'm 5'1. However I started at a BMI of 67.2. So far, I've lost 24 lbs and plan to lose another 8-10 before my surgery in July. Like I saw the other day on pinterest, the weight didnt come overnight and it's not going to leave that way either. I'm in it for the long haul.

A little worried
healthyme1963 replied to racheld11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm rather surprised that your surgeon is releasing you to return to work so soon. I would think that, if your surgery was laparoscopic, you would have to be off work for a minimum of two weeks, and four weeks for open surgery. Eight days just seems too soon to go back to work. You're not even allowed to lift more than 10 pounds for a month. Maybe you should call your surgeon's office? Good luck; I hope you can get a little more time off to heal. You just had major surgery, after all. -

Would I Be Taking On Too Much After My Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
EmilyIsSleeved replied to EmilyIsSleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for all the responses! I will be 19 at the time of surgery, so that might help my recovery a little. The only downside is that I have never had surgery before, so I don't have any prior experiences to compare to. Since all of you say that you would do the classes and most of you are taking care of kids and working as well, I think I could handle classes and work. Thanks again for your responses and good luck to all of you with your sleeves!!! -

This is a great way to do it. My goal is 80 g protein, less than 60 carbs, less than 30 fat, and 10 g Fiber. This is from my nut. It works out to roughly 800 calories.

What happens to food after you eat it is extremely complicated (taking up most or all of a semester in a university biochemistry course). I'll try not to get too scientific here. I CAN tell you that the main way your body is powered is via aerobic respiration which, through a complicated process, takes glucose (sugar) and oxygen and turns them into energy (ATP), Water, and carbon dioxide (this is why we need to breathe in oxygen and breathe out CO2). Your body can take building blocks from any type of food and use it to make glucose (this happens in the liver), so in a way, the answer to your question is yes. However, unless you are on the Atkins diet or have not had a meal in a day or so, probably most of the glucose in your body comes from carbohydrates in your diet. Your body can take any carbohydrate and break it down more or less directly to glucose. Proteins and fats, on the other hand, must be broken down and then rebuilt into glucose (it is "easier" for your body to use carbs for energy). Plus, your body's cells are constantly growing and dividing and producing hormones, etc., and they need amino acids and fatty acids to do so. Thus the proteins and fats you eat are more likely to be broken down and used for these purposes. These are more or less the theories behind high-Protein, low-carb diets. When your body is carb-depleted, it is forced to use fat and protein for energy. This may cause you to lose weight, but is not the way your body is meant to work and thus can be dangerous. It can lead to a condition called ketosis (which can cause nausea, dehydration, headaches, light-headedness, irritability, bad breath, and kidney problems), and also causes loss of muscle mass. Plus, the high fat and cholesterol content and low-Fiber content of these diets can lead to heart and digestive problems. I know that is probably more than you wanted to know but it seems like most people, when asking questions such as this, would be wondering about the implications of different diets. so everything we eat eventually turns into sugar to fuel the body in one way or another....Look at what a potato can give you as far as nutrients and Vitamins...... My advice is to try everything and eat what suits your makeup and limit the carbs...as they are the ones that your body does not have to work hard at turning into glucose... I eat a little of everything I want....10 months out and 160 lbs. down I think it is working!!
