  1. How long after your sleeve surgery did you have to wait to begin to eat mushy food? I feel like I'm so hungry. Today is only the 4th day after having my sleeve and I have yet to figure out the difference between head hunger and real hunger. I did start thinking about food today though and look forward to the day when I can take a bite or two of something. I've been told to wait for 2 weeks to start eating the soft foods. It seems so far away.
  2. Hi, I'm scheduled with Dr. Umbach on 11-5-10. He quoted me $11,000 for outpatient and $15,000 for in patient. I was told he performs his inpatient surgerys on Wednesday at the hopsital where you stay one night and his outpatient surgerys on Fridays at the surgery clinic and get out the same day. There is a big difference in price by going home the same day... and now I'm wondering if I should try to get that extra $4,000 somewhere so I can have it performed in the hospital. I'm self pay. I don't know the answer to your drain question. I am awaiting a response from Dr. Umbach's office on a few more questions, and one was about the drain. Do you live Las Vegas?
  3. Thank you so much for the information. It helps a lot. Maybe I should plan on at least doing like you did... I know I would feel better about the whole thing. Maybe I'll be like you and not have a lotta pain... but who knows anyway. And I don't care anything about going down to the strip and gambling the next day. I just want to be comfortable and okay before I leave the clinic/hospital. I've had surgery (not bariatric) before and it's nice to be taken care of in the hospital afterwards. BUT THE MONEY!! That's a problem.... well, I'll figure something out. Once again, thank you for replying to my post. By the way, how did you do with your weight loss? And when did you have your sleeve done?
  4. Hi, I'm scheduled to have VSG surgery on 11-5 in Las Vegas. It's going to done on an outpatient basis at 8am and I will be released later that day. Has anyone ever had this done? Dr. Umbach is doing the surgery. I'm from Alaska and going to be visiting my sis in Vegas for 17 days and decided to have the surgery while I was there. It's about $5,000 cheaper on an outpatient basis. Wondering if this could be a mistake, and maybe should go in patient. The person that works in the doctor's office said she has seen people get up go down to the strip the next day and gamble. Sounds a little too soon to me. But what do I know. Anyone got any experience with doing this on an outpatient basis?
  5. This is my first post. I'm scheduled for surgery on 11-5 in Las Vegas. I live in Alaska.... didn't want to go to Mexico although the cost there is by far less expensive but anyway, chose Dr. Umbach in Vegas. Anyone had the sleeve done by him? My sis spends about 9 months out of the year there from here so its a perfect time for me to go and take in some sunshine. I'm excited but scared too. Worrying about what could happen... I always said I would never go to this extreme to lose weight, the thought of it just freaked me out, but I've just turned 60 and my weight is so out of control now and just seem to keep gaining and not being able to take any of it off anymore. Would like to spend the rest of my years a lot thinner, maybe I could even meet someone, plus get rid of a lot of my aches and pains. And lord know I would sure feel better about myself. Well, good luck to everyone scheduled in November. Would love to read about your progress.
