    The Dreaded Stall

My first stall started at 2 weeks and lasted about a month. Then I stalled again at about 8 weeks for another 2 weeks. I have really decided to not let it bother me too much and focus on my overall loss and NSV. I just about only have 1 chin now and can feel my cheek bones again! I can make it up 2 flights of stairs without being out of breath. I started looking more closely at my fat intake and that seemed to break my last stall. I am eating more cream of wheat for breakfast and doing small lean cuisines at lunch. It is so hard to not get frustrated, but maybe you can find something else to measure by also to get excited. I had a pair of pants that I would make sure to put on and I could feel the changes more with that than what the scale said. Those pants don't even stay up now!

    My First NSV

<p>This is incomplete, but after reading Vinesqueen's complete list of NSV's, she has inspired me to start keeping track of my own. Thanks Vines!</p> <p> </p> <p>9/14/05: surgery @ 9am, home @ 3pm</p> <p> </p> <p>10/3/05: rings fit a little looser</p> <p> </p> <p>10/5/05: I had a pair of pants that I unintentionally bought a size too small. I was able to wear them, but zip them up only halfway. Today, I put them on (not wiggled into them), and not only was I able to zip them up, but I was able to button them as well.</p> <p> </p> <p>10/20/05: 1st fill & official weigh-in. New BMI is 39.3. I am no longer in the Morbidly Obese category.</p> <p> </p> <p>10/26/05: I have lost 10% of my starting weight</p> <p> </p> <p>10/28/05: My rings are really loose now. While I was typing at work, they wiggled their way right down my fingers, so I had to take them off to continue typing.</p> <p> </p> <p>11/5/05: I ran into one of my grandmother's sisters at Wal-Mart. She said "Looks like you're slimming down aren't you?" That's the first time someone in my non-immediate family has commented about my weight loss. That totally made my day!</p> <p> </p> <p>11/9/05: I tried on a pair of size 18 jeans and they fit! (previous size 22W)</p> <p> </p> <p>11/10/05: I was able to comfortably tuck a shirt into my pants.</p> <p> </p> <p>11/11/05: I visited my Granny for the first time since a week after surgery. She fussed at me about wearing my now too-big clothes.</p> <p> </p> <p>11/12/05: I played football with my cousins without getting tired after 5 minutes.</p> <p> </p> <p>11/14/05: One of my co-workers commented on how big my clothes look on me now. (OK, two comments about my big clothes within a few days of each other? Time to go shopping I guess.)</p> <p> </p> <p>11/20/05: I tried on a pair of size 16 slacks and they fit, but not the way I like for pants to fit. I didn't buy them.</p> <p> </p> <p>11/21/05: As my daughter was taking my pic for the End of 2005 Weight Loss Challenge, she said "Mom you're shrinking!"</p> <p> </p> <p>12/3/05: I went to visit my cousin, and I was sitting with my legs crossed for a long time before I realized that I can now cross my legs!</p> <p> </p> <p>12/17/05: Update from 11/20/05: I went back and tried on those same size 16 slacks, and they fit better. I bought them this time.</p> <p> </p> <p>12/28/05: Went home for Christmas & everyone, I mean EVERYone was oohing and aahing over how good I look. Even my Granny, who usually points out the negative, said that she can't get over how good I look.</p>

    focus on living, not the word S T A L L.

Great post, @@LindafromFlorida! Just the other day I was browsing the messages here, and it seems like every other topic was No Weight Loss/Freaking out/ HELP!, etc... I was even going to find a post I made offering encouragement and support and put it into a text file so I could cut and paste repeatedly. I'm in a stall right now, and all is good. One of the NSVs I've been experiencing lately is a level of joy that I've not felt for years. I have a ways to go to get to my goal, and that's fine. I trust the process. And for the first time in, like, ever, I'm seeking out help, and really listening to what everyone on my bariatric team is telling me. I mean really listening. Be well…

    NSV's for the Merry Losers

I know this is a thread for NSV's but I just had to share with someone my great news. I began my weight loss journed the middle of February last year. I didn't begin pursuit of the lap band until the summer. I dieted on my own from February until the end of May. I joined an Optifast program at a local hospital on June 1 and ate nothing for 14 weeks, just drank their shakes. Then I spent 7 weeks reintroducing food, losing along the way. I finished that program in the middle of October and didn't have surgery until December 6 so I continued to diet on my own. Prior to surgery I had lost 68 pounds. Today when I stepped on the scale I had reached 100 pounds. I could scream it from the rooftops. I would never have believed it a year ago. I finally have less to lose than I have lost already. I am halfway there.

    Intimacy Question!

About a week for me... And as long as you brought this up, I can share up a very private little NSV! Last night, the first time in about 9 years, I could see over my belly enough to watch. woo woo!! :-) hehehe... It was like my own little porn movie!

    New NSV's

*****HI JACK***** Julie--rather than turn it in, why don't you ask around here and see if any other frequent flyer would want it. It can be like a baton in a relay, as each person shrinks out of it, they can pass it on!!! ****Back to GREAT NSV's*****
  9. (1) Research the band, but don't spend 3 years researching it like I did. I'd be at goal now if I had just gone on and pulled the trigger. (2) The WL journey is very rewarding. Even if you have 200+ lbs to lose, it's not very long until you start having NSVs and start feeling a whole lot better about yourself. I thought, at 358, that I'd have to get to 199 before I felt better. That's just not true. Every step of the journey teaches me something.

healtwhip you always remember the first time (you hear a compliment!!!) or 1rst time of anything important there is nothing like being told you look great you'll read/hear of so many great NSV's that people have experience i think one of the common, wonderful NSV concerns our new clothe sizes, clothes being too big!!! one of my latest NSV's???? being able to use a normal size toilet and normal size fitting room instead of the larger handi-capped congrats on the first of many many more NSV's in your new healthier, happier, longer life keep up your great job/work!!! kathy

    NSV tonight

My size 22 capri's from Stein Mart are falling off of course better quality of clothing. Tonight I try on my cheap pair of jeans from walmart size 22 and they fit, woohoo, excited. doin the happy dance.
  14. Hi All I think I like the NSV over the scale victories yesterday I put on some size 16 jeans that use to be tight they were so loose I could put them on and take them off easily without unbuttoning!
  15. Had my port revision yesterday. Glad it's over is all I can say. But here's my takeaway story for the day. So I'm wearing the horrible hospital gown with the sock thingies on as well and waiting with the BF for my surgeon to come in to see me. Already got alot of comments from the nursing staff about the weight loss and was OK with it knowing it would stop once I went home. So as you likely know, the surgical floor is kept fairly cold and while waiting for the surgeon, I tucked my legs up under myself to keep warm. The surgeon walks in and first thing she says after good morning is 'well...look who's all curled up in the chair there.' Figures she would spot that right away knowing that was an impossible position for me at one time. A NSV is a NSV no matter where it happens...

    Interesting, what people notice.

NSV is non scale victory. Something good that happens that has nothing to do with the number on the scale. Examples are fitting into an article of clothing you didn't think you would be able to or using the seat belt on the plane without an extender....or tucking your legs under yourself in the chair as I noted above. Something most of us who are/were obese couldn't do.

    Scale

I'm 11 months out and still don't own a scale. I just weighed at the doctors office. You will be a lot less stressed not worrying about the numbers on the scale. Just follow your plan, concentrate on healing and establishing new habits and measuring your success with NSVs and clothing size.

    6 monthers....

@@cuchas hmmmmm i was 6 months 3 years ago at the time i think i had lost about 70 lbs it took me almost 6 more months to loose my final 35 lbs (reaching goal) if your stats are different (they probably will be) nothing to worry about we all loose lbs in various time periods never, ever compare your weight loss to me or anyone else people have been shot for less don't worry about the time period it takes to loose the weight some people think they will go to bed one night weighing 235 lbs and wake up at GOAL doesn't work that way 11 months or one year, or whatever to reach goal whats the big deal?? you will be looking/feeling better month to month smaller clothes sizes many more wonderful things will happen (NSV's) not sure if you are pre or post op either way good luck kathy

baby did a bad bad thing ...

someone didnt work out today ... someone ate a ton today ... :scared: someone had dessert with dinner (not a bite, a whole piece) EEEEEEEEEEKKKK ... yup ... someone=me.. i was just way too tired to get up early to go work out this morning. i planned on leaving work early and going after work ... not so much ... i was asked to prepare a report that is going directly to our CEO's office (i work for a mAAjor airline...) double eeeek!!! so i was at work until about 630 finishing it up. so much for working out. sigh ... so i have a kick boxing class tomorrow morning. it is with the best teacher and should be fun. i may work out after that as well. we'll see what my weight is ... if it is above 339 7/8 i will spend a lot of time there this weekend. i did have a sorta NSV ... i have to dress up for work Monday (big meeting) and i pulled my skirt & jacket out of the closet - the one i bought last year and it never did quite fit and hasnt been worn - well it is big ... like really big. not sure if i will be able to pull it off Monday. i hope so cause i am tired of buying new outfits and them not fitting soon after ... :scared: oh damn, i am SO full from dinner. i cant wait to get my fill. i need it so bad. for dinner i had chicken fajitas ... all of the chicken, some queso, 2 tortillas and lots of onions ... oh and refried beans ... way too much ... dont forget the dessert!! i will do better tomorrow.

    NSV and SV!

I am beyond ecstatic. I am now below 300 pounds! I started at 540 pounds on October 29, 2015 when I started this whole journey. I had surgery on May 29, 2016 at 480 pounds and Now, 10 1/2 months later I weigh 297.8! I have not had a 2 in the front of my weight in FOREVER. I only have 98 pounds to go until I hit my goal! (Which may change, I'm more going for a clothing size goal now more than a number goal ) I used to have to be on oxygen all the time because I was so fat I could not breathe properly. Now I can walk for over an hour with no break and not be out of breath! I am so extremely happy with my progress! I used to HATE getting my picture taken, it was the WORST. Now I love getting in front of the camera, I ASK for pictures to be taken! This is the craziest thing for me. I feel pretty for the first time in a very very long time. I started out at a size 6x (36-38) and now wear a an 18/20 on top and 22 on bottom. I even wear leggings now! I have a large hanging skin on my stomach which I am having removed on June 5th! I will need a revision surgery when I get to goal but I am very excited for the surgery and the relief it will give me. Here are some before and after pics for you guys!
