I was banded on 3/12 and I've eaten regular foods already. So don't worry your not alone. I didn't vomit didn't have a problem. I'm back on liquids and creamed Soups and yogurt. I have lost some but not as much as I am sure I would if I was restricted. Remember we're not rstricted yet so not much has changed...we're healing. Some docs are more crazy about the diets at the beginning than others. We have our minds to change...you're fine...we'll all do it...it a process sharon;)

Ok, many of us have expressed a need or desire to be accountable for Protein intake, Water intake, food intake, calories, lots of stuff....SO I thought I'd start a thread for us so we have a place where we can come and be accountable! Just put in here whatever you want to be accountable, and we'll all help each other stay on track. I'll go first, I need to be accountable for the crap I'm putting in my mouth. So far today I've had a Fruit & Yogurt Parfait, 2 tbsp of tuna salad, 8 Triscuit thin crisps, a lite mozarella stick, and 1/2 of a New whey Protein bullet. (34 grams of protein) I've also had about 20 ozs of water so far today, too.

Congrats, I know I felt like I hit the jackpot once I started on the pureed/mushie stage. I am sure people will be able to give you some good ideas. I was boring and just stuck to refried beans/cheese and creamed Soups along with my yogurts, cottage cheese and such. But enjoy your next diet step!

Another "Am is too tight" question
Humming Bird replied to bayareanan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you followed the rule about sticking with liquids the first day after a fill and then move slow to the more solid stuff to avoid swelling and you are now having this feeling whith yogurt, then yes, I think you are too tight. If you did not follow the liquids only rule, then you may have caused some swelling. You would be suprised with the results of getting a very tiny bit of an unfill. I'm talking VERY tiny , like .1cc or .2cc . Yes, point one or point two. Not even a half cc. -
Oikos make greek yogurt dips that have good flavors. I used the cucumber dill in chicken salad. This way you could add more yogurt without that "yougurt-y" taste. http://www.oikosyogurt.com/greek-yogurt/oikos-greek-yogurt-dips.aspx

Protein and Carbs...Help!
MIZ60 replied to DesertGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use baked chicken breast pureed with a little bone broth and greek yogurt and that is 9 grams per ounce. I eat 3-4 ounces throughout the day. Cottage cheese is 3 grams protein per ounce and I eat 2 ounces per day. 1 PP shake with my AM coffee is 30 g protein. That is a total of 63-72 grams of protein. 2 grams carb for the cottage cheese, less than 1 total for the chicken, 3 for the shake. I also eat some garlic mashed cauliflower about 3 ounces per day (I carb) I do add some Land of Lakes light butter to the cauliflower and about 1/2 teaspoon Duke's mayo per serving of the chicken. I honestly am not worried about a moderate amount of fat and will not be using any fat free stuff....just nasty. My program does not allow any eggs, oatmeal, pudding, milk or soup at this stage. Liquid stuff just runs through the pouch and does not lead to satiety.....so they say. My surgeon is against eggs and I do not know why. I can have fruit but I see no reason since I am satisfied. My next things to try are tuna and black beans. count -
Protein and Carbs...Help!
jess9395 replied to DesertGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There’s debate on whether your carbs must be that low, what does your doctors plan say? I kept mine that low during my loss phase. Simple tweak is to get rid of the oatmeal. I didn’t add that back in till I was at goal. Check the carbs in your shakes, some are higher than others. I chose one with no carbs. Also check your soup, some have higher carbs than others. Does your Greek yogurt have added sugar? There’s another spot you could lower the carbs. -
I eat bananas every day too! no problems at all. Hey here is an idea for those have a hard time with bananas, put a banana in a mini food processor, scoop into a little cup, freeze overnight. You got yourself a healthy frozen treat! You can also get creative with this and add other fruits, yogurts, etc...

Yes...I'm down 30 from my BD 8/29, 21 from weigh-in at the beginning of this whole process and 12 from my surgery date. I am pleased with this and can see my face getting thinner... But I stepped on the scales this morning and am up .8 of a pound. This is the first time I've gone up. So now I'm adding walking to my day and throwing out my whole milk yogurt for the 1%...dang. It doesn't pay to daily do the scales thing but I knew the yogurt was a no-no though I only eat about 1/2 cup. I guess you do adjust. Don't fret...you've not had a fill yet. We are just beginning!! Take care.

Greek yogurt is also a great source of protein.

The dietician told me that yogurt has too many carbs to count as a protein snack. I was crushed. -

Acid reflux vs pureed foods
sbg224 replied to hopeful_loser13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 25 days post op and still sticking with, chicken, fish, cottage cheese, yogurt. I am no where ready to try beef. Good luck -
Hi, I think beef is very difficult to chew properly, and frankly I think it may be even too early for you to experiment with steaks. You may want to get comfortable with the soft foods first. If you really crave beef then try the meatloaf or Salisbury steak instead. You will need to cut it into very teeny-tiny pieces like a green pea, if you want to eat a beef steak. I have been also worried for a long time that I ate more than I should have. people have reported that they can only eat one cup of food at a time. However, I could always eat 2 cups of food. As long as they are low calorie options (fruits, vegetables, low fat yogurts etc) you may be just fine. For me when I eat my lunch, (I still finished it very quickly, in 10 min), I have to sit and wait 5-10 minutes - I try to browse the internet or read a newspaper until I feel that my stomach is full. Usually, it takes 10-15 minutes for the signal to go from your stomach to your brain and let you know that you are full. If you can manage to wait 5 minutes between "meal courses" you may eventually feel full at some point.

I almost always have approx. 1 1/2 eggs scrambled with a little cheese on it and a small container of yogurt. Then, glass of milk midmorning with lots of water. Usually good for about 4-5 hrs.

I got my 2nd fill yesterday. I have a total of 3cc's in my band. (only 4 cc's allowed). I am having a hard time even drinking liquids. I wasn't sure if I was having a hard time due to swelling or maybe I am just not used to what restriction should feel like. One minute I have problems with eating yogurt, oatmeal or drinking water and then a hour later it goes down just fine. I know that food should stay in the pouch but if anything sits in there it is uncomfortable and like there is a weight on my chest. Is this normal? I was wondering if this is common for others and whether or not I am just feeling this because my fill was so recent and was wodnering if it would stop after swelling went down. Any advice is appreciated.

What to Expect During Year Two After the Sleeve
ProudGrammy replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@OKCPirate thanx for responding to my post always heard that max protein at a sitting is 40 gr i never heard/knew that too much protein can hurt your kidneys its soooo frustrating, upsetting for me to "know what to do"/who to believe (not talking about you @@OKCPirate) so many different opinions/advice of course everyone says "THEIR" rules are right - don't listen to anyone else but me Protein Shake 25 gr i usually eat my chicken, fish, meats with plenty of protein why or is it better to eat your protein, instead of drinking i enjoy drinking my protein shake for Breakfast not understanding why some NUTS etc say "that's" not good i am in a "mood" now that is bothering me about all the different rules/answers/opinions written in articles/computer boards, links etc. people, docs/NUT says their way or the highway venting now no smileys gotta get away and have my Fage yogurt kathy -
I'm still on liquids so puréed soup - either tomato with plain Greek yogurt mixed in for protein, or creamy chicken noodle.
-
Sounds like you have pretty good restriction already! That's great! Or your stomach can be a bit swollen from the fill. Maybe try liquids, yogurt or pudding for a day and then try again. Eggs should be a food that go down fairly well. Try to wait a minute or two between bites and see if that helps. Sometimes it's not just small bites and chewing well but giving your stomach a little time for it to register. I doubt if 1 egg was too much, you should be fine with that.

My favorites were, in no particular order: fat free refried Beans with a little sour cream cottage cheese with chives scrambled eggs (or eggbeaters) eggbeaters omelet with cheese Fage yogurt with a little honey tuna/crab/or salmon mixed with mayo and a little relish crabcakes baked ricotta (ricotta mixed w/a little eggbeaters and parmesan, topped with pizza sauce and mozzarella). The idea of pureeing meat kind of grossed me out...

For all of you eating mushies right now....
ccweeks replied to Soexcited's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with keeping your protein intake high, but you can do it without eating blended meat. I eat greek yogurt, eggs, thick Protein shakes and cottage cheese. Plenty of options to stay liquified meat-free!! -
Hi all, Just had my sleeve done on Thursday so am only drinking broth, propel Water and eating sf Popsicles. I'm hungry. Is that normal at this stage? Maybe I'll be less hungry when I progress to yogurt and Soups? I guess I just never expected to be hungry. Thanks for any info!

What are some of your favorite foods and what types of foods can you handle? How have your taste become different? I am a personal chef and am curious about the kind of food I will enjoy after surgery. Right now I do enjoy eating healthy food, I am mainly a volume eater. One of my favorite meals in pork roast with a spicy rub then greek yogurt as a cooling agent. How do you handle spices?
